I have never thought about quilting with flannels but then said why not to myself. it would be warm and soft. I have only so far just quilted with cottons. I am so into quilting right now and have made 8 quilts completed so far but the last two years have been learning new blocks and need to finish tops with them. Thank you for keeping me motivated. I really appreciate you and Missouri star quilts
Holy cow, Misty aren’t you up to one million yet? You keep saying you’re almost there. Update yourself please. The flannel quilt is great. Looks super cozy.
I love the Woolies flannels! I have a jelly roll and some yardage but can’t find a pattern. I would think all those seams would be difficult to manage since the fabric is so bulky. What would be a good pattern to use besides just sewing the strips together. I had thought using yardage to cut squares and surround the squares with strips to border them but even that seems like a lot of seams. So I just put it away until I could find a pattern to use. Too many seams….I do like this pattern but I don’t think it would work with 2.5” strips. I’ll have to think about it. It might work. The numbers would have to be adjusted for 2.5” instead of 3” strips. But it might be ok. Thanks Misty for sharing a pattern with flannels.
Just curious why in the last few months you have been using the Bernett as opposed to the Accomplish straight stitch? I don’t care for all the delay on a computerized machine. The plus is they have a lot of other awesome stitches. I don’t ever remember Jenny using computerized machines. No criticism just wondering. Great video Misty. You are as usual a great teacher.
Jenny DID use the Bernatte for a bit, but I noticed she stopped using right before she left for Africa. Probably drove her crazy also. I almost can't even watch the tutorials because of that machine. I'm sure MSQ signed a deal with Bernatte to tout the machines. But they do seem to drive everyone crazy just to watch them.
Does flannel need to be pre- washed? Someone may have already asked this, but a scroll pretty far down didn't see it as an opening question. Any tips for flannel layer cakes appreciated.
The pattern is already unavailable and it’s Monday evening here in North Carolina! I love MSQC but why don’t they even have enough patterns available when it’s still the same day of the program???
@ of course I know that it is not a MSQC pattern - I can read - but many times they have used patterns from other designers and the pattern was available on their site! And yes, once again I’m not stupid, so I know I can purchase it from other places, but I prefer to make my purchases with many other items from MSQC. They sell patterns from many other quilters and almost always will have them in stock for more than a few hours!
I worry about flannel shrinking. Always wash! I've had it shrink as much as 2" over a yard. Can't prewash 10" squares. It might be nice to do a followup post washing.- it could be done as a Short
I've been looking for the right pattern for my daughter and this one was it. Unfortunately, it's out of stock and never will be coming back! Why, why, would you make a tutorial for a pattern that we cannot get????? Just plain mean.

Think about a flannel rag quilt!
Great tutorial Misty!! Thank you so much!!❤
Love it Misty. I love the way you work. You make it look easy and everything is so neat. Cheers. Jan-Maree Warne
Maywood Woolies are the best flannels, so very cozy. I’ve backed a couple of quilts with that flannel.
Great use of the Aztec block. I like them because the blocks are large and it’s easy for beginners even if you have some experience.
I love everything with a Southwest flair! Great job!
Was thinking the same thing. Remind me of a Navajo rug.
What a sweet pattern. Thanks for sharing.❤❤❤
Really enjoy your tutorials Misty! You are doing a wonderful job!

Toasty warm with flannel

Does this flannel shrink when washed?
Question about the 10" flannel squares. Are they or were they prewashed?
Probably not. Flannel will shrink a lot when washed.

Nice ❤
What did you put on the back of your flannel squares?
Could you do this with a jelly roll? I know it would make the pattern smaller.
How many 10” square you get from a yardage?
Does flannel need to be pre- washed?
Someone may have already asked this, but a scroll pretty far down didn't see it as an opening question. Any tips for flannel layer cakes appreciated.
You sure wouldn't want to prewash a layer cake - right?
I want to know how to sew with different fabrics. My machine won’t work on anything but cotton. I end up having to handsew.
could this be made in regular quilting cotton
There are NO quilt police. Make it with whatever fabric you want. Directions are the same.
The pattern is already unavailable and it’s Monday evening here in North Carolina! I love MSQC but why don’t they even have enough patterns available when it’s still the same day of the program???
Google the pattern. This IS NOT a MSQ pattern and it is available at other outlets. There are a lot of other quilting sites besides MSQ.

I'm making it from Misty's directions. Not using the paytern.
Great pattern for the flannel I've got stashed. But WHY IN THE WORLD IS MSQ USING THIS CRAZY MACHINE!
I worry about flannel shrinking. Always wash! I've had it shrink as much as 2" over a yard. Can't prewash 10" squares.

Is the background flannel, too?
Yes
Good design for male quilts.
Fun
Can you use cotton packing?
Is there a lot of shrinking on flannel precuts?
There are no quilt police regardless of what everyone thinks. Use what you want.
What sewing machine is Missy using. I see it is a Bernette but can’t see the model number.

Always loved that pattern. Easy pattern to sew with a high wow factor. 🩷
