Really nice effect but missed some things tbh. firstly, black values do affect the time displacement. The values get shifted in the opposite direction to white values, similarly to displacement maps. 50% gray doesn’t affect the timing. Also is there a need to render the thing out and then apply the effects? i’m not sure and i’ll check it for myself but i imagine that the effect would look less pixelated if the time displacement was made on a direct precomp of the text.

Thanks! Those circular gradients are made by photoshop. I drew shape tool with black color and applied 'gaussian blur'.

Have another question and hoe you can help me: Do you know how i can extract a distorted Text as an Vector File? Saw some people using normal text with the cc circular (that the text is rounded) and used this for other things? I do not know how to extract or export a frame as vector... would be really dope if you could help.

Fabitalism I don’t know about how to extract as Vector File, but if you want to make some motion graphic with alpha channel(which is transparent like .png file) I could help you.
I’ll make some tutorial about that as soon as possible :)

How come you exported as a video and then import it? Rather than not exporting, and just creating the displacement comp alongside the text warp comp?

​@@inigoropner7511 I'm not sure if this is how the tools lab did it, but I added an additional "Form" layer after the "Time" layer but this time with the anchor point at the right side just like the other two layers. This way you have the "Form" layer scaling up at the end of the timeline and scaling down at the beginning of the timeline. Does that make sense?
