      @@gb.2006with us, our issue was that the moment I tried to put him down he wakes up or only stays down for 3-5mins before waking and crying. So yes, sometimes I rock him to sleep and when placing him down, use this method. It’s faster that way but sometimes when I want him to fall asleep in his cot, usually at bedtime, after bath and story/some singing and I can see he is really sleepy, I don’t rock I just put him down and kinda lay on his chest (like a hug/embrace sort of 😂) sometimes I humm or shush or pat gently as needed. Hope it helps and good luck mama 😊

    Today was my first morning trying out these tips and it worked!!!!! My daughter was back in her crib fast asleep in LESS than 15 minutes!!! • @LM86-
    @LM86- Місяць тому +1

    I find it helps if I swaddle my baby in dark room, hold then against me upright and walk and sway and while I sway I sssshhh this really calms my baby. Then I move to cradling him so he’s in the lay down position but in my arms. This whole time I’m ssssshhhhint in a dark room and gently swaying. Then when he’s super relaxed and yawning I lay him in the cot and I crouch down out of eye sight and continue to ssssshhhhh while gently rubbing his tummy. Works a charm but baby needs to be relaxed and nice and full for it to work. If he’s a bit hungry he just cries so I stop and feed and try again xx

    How does this apply when you have a refluxxy baby that needs to be kept upright for a while after a feed but in that time she’s kept upright, she falls asleep in my arms. I can get her down in her bed for a while but she tends to wake after a short sleep and will vomit and stay awake. Doesn’t wake and vomit at night though. It’s a real battle, any tips greatly appreciated. Reflux is making lots of things hard Eg. Tummy time, feed/play/sleep. I feel like I have to hold her all day or she will spend the day spewing and miserable!

    • @littlezsleep

      Hey there! Reflux is tough! I would offer the feed at the beginning of the wake window, that way you have time to hold her upright. I would also touch base with your pediatrician and see if there is anything to help her keep milk down a little better!

And as it’s said in the beginning of the video I feel like it’s my job, at least baby girl has a good rest ( she can nap 2-3 hours on me). I feel guilty wanting to put her down but I also feel that it’s not going to work much more longer so I am seeking for tips everywhere what to do.
    At night she is doing perfectly in her crib next to my bed since around she was 5 weeks old. She sleeps through the night , sometimes she wakes up once but 99% she sleeps from around 8:30 pm till 5:30-6:00 am. Only the daytime naps are difficult. I hope I will be able to do something.

What if my 4 MO is still crying and awake after 30 minutes? Should I resort back to the usual way of napping or skip the nap? • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Emily! That is a great question! At 4 months old, the goal would be to have your little one take two naps in the crib and then two naps on the go (you don't want to be trapped in the house for 4 crib naps!) I would start with the first nap of the day and work your way up from there. 30 minutes is a great amount of time to try this, and if baby isn't having it, then switch to a way you know they will fall asleep.

    AAP recommends all swaddling to stop at the first signs/attempts of rolling over. And, Dr. Moon from the AAP goes on to recommend swaddling also stop by 8 weeks of age. Can you explain why you suggest 12 weeks?

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  2 роки тому

      Hey there! I recommend getting out of the swaddle between 8-12 weeks (taking in adjusted age if baby was premature) UNLESS baby is starting to show sings of rolling then you will want to stop swaddling immediately. Many babies start to roll back to front after 8-12 weeks old, but some do roll earlier.

    Thanks for the advice. My LO is 4 months, besides having the room dark can I use a hatch to add some light or will it be to distracting? If she cry’s should I pick her up or leave her and continue trying to put her to sleep?

      Hey Jessica!! No need for light as the baby doesn’t have any concept of being afraid of the dark at that young. And I have a free course you can check out for more on solving nightwakings!! www.littlezsleep.com/4steps

    No matter how tired my 1 year old is, every attempt to put her down (even in a king sized bed, laying next to her) she pops up FULLY awake if she's not laying on top of me in some way. Doesn't matter how many times I try. She stopped being able to sleep on her own at around 3 months. Putting her *down* into a crib is just not going to happen, it's impossible.... Are there videos for impossible cases?

    Thank you SO much for posting this video. I have been contact napping and nursing to sleep which I loved doing until baby got to be 5 months old and got heavy and I couldn't get much done! I just tried doing the 1st nap in the crib with me next to him rubbing his head and tummy and he fell asleep within 20 minutes!! It's so exciting. My only question would be, what do I do if he wakes up after 30 minutes? Do I go back in and sit next to him and help fall back asleep? Also is it ok to wear him for naps when I'm not home or is car seat better for that?

    My baby is 5 months old, and when he was colicky he slept in a bouncer. And now he won’t fall asleep during the day without being rocked in the bouncer. I tried rocking him less and less but as soon as I pick him up to transfer him, he wakes up and we are back to ground 0. How do I teach him to fall asleep on his own without being bounced to sleep? And no CIO method. I don’t have the heart for that!
    Also, is the black out room absolutely necessary? Our rooms have a ton of windows and it would be super hard to get it that dark 😅
    And how would I adjust later if I’m not able to put him down in a dark room - say I’m not home or whatnot?

    Hi there! If I make the room completely dark, wouldn't that affect my baby's way to distinguish between day and night? Or is it just until they get used to falling asleep in a crib and then it's back to light room?

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  2 роки тому

      Hey Loredana! A baby's circadian rhythm is established around 8-9 weeks of age! Darkening the room at nap time will not affect their circadian rhythm because they are exposed to daylight all throughout the day! A dark environment is the most ideal location for them to take long, restorative naps!

    Hi, started using this method this morning but my baby started crying after 10 minutes of trying, is your idea to let them cry till 15 minutes and then soothe them or soothe them instantly and when they are ok to put them down and try again for the rest of that 15 minutes? Thank you

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Рік тому +1

      You will offer the nap for 30 minutes, soothing your baby periodically during that time! We recommend letting them fuss/cry for just a few minutes and then help to soothe and calm them when necessary. If your little one just won't settle after 30 minutes of offering the nap in the crib, then you can move on and rescue the nap outside of the crib!

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  2 роки тому

      Hey Alicia! I count daytime starting no earlier than 6 am, so for that feed around 4-5 am you would change diaper, feed, and put back into the crib. Then when baby wakes up after that, you would count that as the start of the day.

      Get them used to not falling asleep when feeding by playing music or watching tv and feeding in a bright room then after rock them to sleep and when you notice they start to fall asleep, put them in the crib and do as she said. But do your best to keep baby awake while feeding!

    Hi there, first of all, thank you for the video and the method. I tried this method this morning for my nearly 12 weeks old and it worked for us. Took me 30 mins kept picking up and putting down, then my son went to sleep for 40 mins, he woke up, did not cry, stayed in the bassinet for 10 mins and started crying. I picked him out and calmed him but it took 20 mins to settle him. I ended up holding him to sleep for the rest of the nap
    May I have a question please? When he wakes up after that 40 mins nap, should I keep trying to put him back in the bassinet like the beginning or just do everything like holding /rocking for him to sleep the rest of the nap and try thr method again at the next naps? I want him to have a good nap so he won't wake up unhappily and tired. How many time do you recommend us should do it a day? Many thanks

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  2 роки тому

      Hey there! I am glad to hear that this helped to get your little one to nap in the bassinet! Newborn naps are all over the place, so it is totally normally for them to have some short naps and some long naps. You could try to rescue the nap, but if it is taking a long time, you could just get him up and start his next wake window.
