Best album of 2021, hands down. It's so full of LIFE. So creative. So many different moods and tempos... so MUSICAL, and creative and well-executed. Big shout out to Chris for the stellar interpretation of the lyrics (went from "never heard of this band" to my top 5 favourite singers of all time). I listen to this at least 3 times per week now.

Has anyone here or Azure themselves ever heard of Mechanical Poet, the Russian prog band? Especially the albums Woodland Prattlers (2004) and Tales for Freaky Children (2007), Azure sounds exactly like the sequel to this band in a lot of ways, both in concept and in musical style, both bands playing a sort of hard edged modern prog and having giant conceptual, thematic albums with emotional, heartfelt vocals.
If anyone wants to see a baby band to Azure of sorts, Mechanical Poet is like the prequel to Azure. But I should probably be clear, Azure are a step above. 😊

The most excited I've been about a new musical discovery since discovering A.C.T and Moon Safari almost 20 years ago. I also got excited about Barock Project and Thank You Scientist about four years ago, but not like this! Bravo, guys! I've never heard such a blending of the melodic with dissonance! Genius!

I don't remember how I stumbled upon this album, but wow it is excellent. The songwriting is creative and full of ideas, the vocals + melodies are catchy, the chord progressions are interesting (the first-half-major second-half-minor thing happening in the chorus of Self-Crucifixion is very cool), and the musical soundscapes are layered and rich (A Sailor Will Learn + Lustre especially). All in all it sounds like a less-heavy BTBAM or a more sincere Dream Theater. I eagerly await your future works!

I just found you through an ad on Insta. I normally do not click on them, but i did. You guys have impressed the crap out of me. It's like you guys took a bit if Dream Theater, Rush, Saga, Animals as Leaders and you added a dose of "for the hell of it" and came up with something BRILLIANT!! Very friggin' impressive!! LOVE IT!! This is quickly becoming one of my favorite albums! Is there any chance we could get instrumental versions of these songs at some point? They're all super fun to sing, it would be nice to be able to sing along karaoke style.
Hey, thanks so much for the support! We don't have any plans to release the whole album instrumentally, but perhaps at some point we will put a couple of instrumental versions somewhere just for vocal covers!
@@azure2176 That would be fun. I can't match your vocal quality, but can hit all the notes on 'Ameotoko 1 The Curse', just about :). I couldn't sustain nor add the vibrato on the top notes well however :( Kudos to you. Get it on a vocal coach reacts channel if you can. I bet Elizabeth 'The Charismatic Voice' would love the music! I still get chills on those wails... Going to recommend she does it on her video.

Give me a few more days and listens, mates. I've a feeling I'm going to be writing you guys a five star review at progarchives. This is exceptional! I know Chris has said that you're like Genesis, Iron Maiden, and Yes being squashed into one band, but I'd also add that I hear a nod towards A.C.T and perhaps Native Construct as well. Yeah honestly in retrospect, same.
The reason at the time was that the album was finished and we were pitching it to labels.
The whole process was taking ages, so we wanted to write something that we could release separately from the album that wouldn't impact any of those negotiations that were going on.
Nothing ended up coming from those negotiations, hence the indie release. By the time we'd completely abandoned the idea of releasing this record on a label, we were so close to the release date that all the assets for the physicals and stuff were kind of done and set in stone, so it would have been a nightmare to sort out logistically.
Either way, we're onto writing the next one now! The time gap between writing this one and writing mistress was pretty wide and the sound we've got going on at the moment is probably closer to what we were doing on Mistress. So that's the direction we're headed in musically anyway! Very hyped about it!
The album is a great discovery ! Perfect melt of light and dark, joy and melancholy ! A Sailor will learn in particular gives me goosebumps :D hats off to everyone of you !!
While other listeners underlined prog rock and metal bands as influences, I feel like there is some japanese rock band L'Arc en Ciel taste in the singing for example. Am I wrong ?
Wow, you've definitely got us sussed! We definitely take a lot of influence from our favourite J-rock bands - not just in the vocal style but in some of the harmony and the manic, hyperactive energy we love to channel sometimes. A very accurate comparison, totally stoked that you can hear that in us

I've been listening to this and Redtail for the last 2 weeks and love everything except the tweaky vocals on Outrun God. Is there any way to get a version/ alternate mix with unedited vocals on Outrun God if I buy an album from you?
Hey Mark - we don't currently have a way to easily remix and remaster an individual song from the album, but I'm sure at some point in the future we'll put out some alternative versions of our songs. Also, when we play Outrun God live, it'll sound far more like the version you're describing.
