Watched a lot of this competition. I think he in a league by himself in his musicality. I am a little surprised he did not win. If I could play like any of them, it would be him! What a talent. Brings music out of the piano right into my heart and soul. I am so thankful to hear him perform. I will keep watching him going forward. Bravo!!!!!!

Wunderschöne Aufführung dieses romantischen und perfekt komponierten Konzerts mit klarem doch zugleich elegantem Klang des technisch perfekten Soloklaviers sowie gut vereinigten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen der anderen Instrumente. Der zweite Satz klingt außergewöhnlich schön und echt lyrisch. Der intelligente und geniale Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Orchester im gut betrachteten Tempo und mit sorgfältig kontrollierter Dynamik. Faszinierend vom Anfang bis zum Ende!

From the phenomenal Ballad 4 in the first stage to the beautiful Concerto in F minor (Plus the best sonata prize given by Krystian Zimmerman). Alexander Gadjiev has been so so solid in every stage and the second place is totally well deserved! Definitely my personal favourite pianist in this year's competition. Congratulations and Grazie Mr Gadjiev!!!

Exactly! When he plays, he doesn't distract from the music. He doesn't make distracting facial expressions, doesn't sing, doesn't use exagerrated body movements. He is there, but just as a means of conveying the beauty of the music he's performing. I love him for this!

Yes, indeed, no ego and very relaxed in appearance. If you notice at the award announcements, Alexander is hugging a couple of the winners and seems unconcerned about who wins what, just very happy for everyone placing... !
He is my favorite from the first second I listened to him, because he has "something different" - something you meet once in 50 years. Ok, some mistakes, but his spirit is so strong that you forget everything in one second. Kind of Glenn Gould of the Chopin-World.
I like Gadjiev and Shigeru KAWAI's performance, or rather their sound. The sound is passionate, sweet, beautiful, and melts into the air. It was a really beautiful and colorful performance. He is the No.1 for me.
He's like an acquired taste. At first he didn't catch my attention, since he is more "down to earth" compared to some of the other more charismatic contestants. But after listening to his performances I find him to be the most interesting artist in the competition. I'm really looking forward to listen to future concerts and recording by this young man.

I don't know anything about the technique of piano, but how he plays this concerto simply directly brings me into my heart and makes it glowing, sending at the same time shivers along my spine, quite literally. A deeply moving performance from within. It really makes me enter this music body and soul, not just observe it with my hearing as with some others - truly brilliant - performances. And even there seems to be some harsh piece of sound: it is totally in its place!!!
Favorite performance of this round. You can see the maturity and easy nature shine through in his expressiveness and fluid play. The piano isn't bad either. So much color and variation.
This young man plays with an elegance that I have not often seen. He has an amazing ability to draw one into the music until one almost feels as if the music has become a part of their soul. I could listen all day. Best wishes to you Mr. Gadjiev.

How to play that you don't need strength. It's a performance that pushes delicacy and emotion to the front. I feel that these pianists will survive in Europe. The second choice seemed to be true.

I love this man's playing and style; very eloquent, poetic, a bit mystical, and the fortes never sound forced like others do.. ... he is technically brilliant without sounding 'techinical'... am I right that he sped up a little too much right near the end and was 'off' briefly and out of syc with the orchestra, thus costing him first place for concerto playing? He reminds me most of Chopin himself and what I imagine Chopin to sound like and the mannerisms...
This is most electrifying performance of the competition, he is very charismatic and he is like a young rock star with a lot of character, I think you either like him or you don’t. Without a doubt I e will be one of the most interesting young pianist to watch for sometime. Very refreshing and he makes very interesting choices. First prize or not I am looking forward to see his future performances anyway :)
