nice work Trent. Plasma cutting is good content. Welding is good content. Fab skills are good content. We watch because you're doing. If anyone put a camera on me while I was welding, I'd be banned from the internet!
You have a unique aspect to your building process that has to be extremely helpful. It is something that Tom Silva, Richard Trethewey, and Norm Abrams of This Old House have mentioned. Because you are building to an audience you have to explain what your plan is and then do your work knowing that there are experts watching your every move. Explaining your plan in detail is something that can only help you to be more confident in what you are doing. I don’t have to do this and make mistakes because I don’t have to explain my every step to an audience that will scrutinize my efforts. You have gotten so good at telling your audience what you are doing from Trent & Allie, which I call This New House, and you are Tom Silva (my favorite master craftsman).
Building a rock crawler is like building a home, it’s the little details done right in the beginning that make a huge difference later. Take your time and we’ll follow along.
Trent, this is what your channel is supposed to be! It’s refreshing hearing you second guessing yourself as we all do but very informative at the same time! Love this channel!
Trent, your videos are always informative and not boring. you let us know what you are doing every step of the way and that makes it so much more interesting than just watching someone welding without knowing what they are trying to do
Tech tip: Install a Zerk fitting in the center of the tube that holds the urethane bushings so they can be easily greased, especially when they’re used for suspension pivots. They squeak like crazy.
Not boring at all: I love the fabrication videos, a lot better than just bolting on after-market kits. This is why I watch Fab Rats and Matt. Last thing I fabricated was a double swing gate from two steel fence panels. But that was with oxy-acetylene a couple decades ago. Still working fine! So is the replacement section I had to splice in after my wife got impatient with the electric opener. One thing I notice is that you skip the first step in most fabrications: Cardboard, a Sharpie, and a box cutter. Cardboard mock-ups can save a lot of time.
Tip from an old welder. If you want to make a super strong weld, you have to make a second weld on the same weld seam. Do the test with two strips. Good luck.
My Grandpa was a machine for the Ohio State Garage. From a little girl until now I have always fixed things myself. I'm 62 years old and my husband still calls me a Tomboy. 😊
Need longer episodes of Trent’s garage. I do understand you have a lot on your plate but hopefully we can see longer content in the future. Happy Father’s Day.
Don’t sweat making it more entertaining, this is great to watch! Also Trent do yourself a favor and buy Walter zip discs and flap wheels , the flap wheels are embedded in plastic and work awesome! The orange flap wheels.
Including us in these seemingly little things is what matters a lot-good job and be encouraged that your content is always interesting, informative and the fun factor never gets lost.
You’re doing fine Trent. Keep doing you and your subscriber count will demonstrate the interest we have in this. Could even work the tractor repairs into this series.
Oh gosh Trent all this work on your truck is never boring and you are getting so much better at completing all of this work and so glad that the hole you drilled fit that bolt perfectly and once you got everything all welded together it looks so awesome. Thanks for sharing this video, have a blessed rest of your week, sending love and hugs, bye! 😂🤗👍👏💜💜💜
trent I hope my motor mount build for my 1926 speedster comes out this good and yes I can see why this takes so much time , I thought it was just me , chris
You did a grand job don’t pull your self drown buddy iv been a mechanic nearly all my life and I still love 90% of it your doing great carry on doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks it’s great
Trent, love your video's. They are very educational. Just some minor criticism which is not intended to be negative, but watching your explanations is like seeing you wave your hands and talking in detail for 90% and actually seeing what you do for 10%.
Trent I’m sure I don’t speak for only myself when I say this. But wether or not you have the most epic content or a video like today people are going to watch it because they enjoy you. The way you love it or explain with passion makes me want to watch whatever is going on in your life at that time. You and Ally are fantastic don’t stop making videos. I look forward to watching every one. And Happy Father’s Day!
Trent, please wear safety glasses when you are using your drill press. Those shards were flying and I was screaming for you to put them on. An eye injury would be horrible. Let's keep this channel eye pain free. Scared my dogs they left the room. You and I are so much alike. We down play or discount what we have done even though we are excited and proud. We need to be proud of what you have done not what all you still have to do. We are awesome.
Like I said before, I have no idea what you’re doing… But it’s fun to watch! Hearing you say “ this is making me nervous”, It’s like you saying ” I hit the lottery!”. I think you thrive on impending disaster and that’s also fun to watch! Come on Moab!!!😎
TRENT, you should buy a digital calipers to measure thickness or diameters and get a chart that shows drill diameters and tap size and tape it to your toolbox lid underside for easy access. This will help so their's no guesswork at the right size.
I don’t know how you can explain away the “natural talent” in Trent ;it 19:28 serves so many purposes! He’s learned to be a STAR! By being a TEACHER! (Not a teacher)!
Goooood morning! Hope all had a wonderfully blessed Fathers Day that carries you happily through the week! Running behind on EVERYTHING! Sciatica is not a visitor I needed!!🤦 The sheetrock whooped me😤😂 Have a great day! Thanks for sharing KNOWLEDGE!! Something we need a lot more of!!
What you’re doing today reminds me of when I used to quilt. Only a passionate quilter would buy perfectly good fabric and cut it all up into little pieces and sew it all back together. Seems you’re doing the same only with metal. I get it. 😃
I agree with you on the motor mounts for rock crawling but I would use 2 pipes together to form the frame to the motor for extra strength under the high vibration and less chance of cracking the engine supports. The stronger the better as the engine is the heaviest part of you truck. Welding cast iron the best way is to weld and set in kitty litter and heat with torch to slow down the cooling.
Happy Father’s Day, Trent. Hope you get some time with Joel and that both he and Leo fill your day with joy and laughter!i I think you are already enjoying this day! I never knew that transmission jacks existed. The song 😊that should be running through your head: “Slow Down, You Move Too Fasf, Got to Make Your Morning Last”…
Trent, very beefy welds. Those motor mount adapters are bomb proof. You should have no trouble with them. I thought Brandon laughing was funny. He does a good job with the camera.
Trent, I really enjoyed your videos, I know nothing about what your doing, but your so informative, by the time you are done and rock crawling, I will know the build from one end to the other. I love it when people explain, I'm learning too. See you Friday on Trent and Allie. Have a blessed week. ❤
Trent quit over thinking the problem. Use the 3/8th plate and it will hold better with less possible stress cracks. Also I would suggest heating the complete motor mount after your done welding to cherry red and submerging into sand & oil mixture to cool off to anneal all welds and steel.
For your safety and Brandon 's I would like to see fire extinguisher mounted to shop wall and handy when working with sparks.Remember what happened to Jay Leno.
Not so critical for ferrous metals: The ER can use a magnet to pull the fragments out of your eyeball. Aluminum or other non-ferrous metals are nasty. A lot of stainless is not attracted to magnets, either.
No boredom at all watching you make the motor mounts. We get to see the details, which are crucial. Good choice on using 3/8 steel. That extra support for rock climbing is needed.
Trent, bit by bit, some things take a long time to do, if you do a good job. Welding is a job you have to get correct the first time. Best wishes from Mike. 👍
Great setup with the Bluetti! I would go one step further and make a male to male power cord 😱 to plug into the shop's power whenever the grid goes down. Of course, this is not even close to being in compliance with code. The main breaker on your breaker box must be disengaged and the power in cord to the Bluetti must be disconnected, prior to using this McGyver hack. The Bluetti's power would reverse the flow of current, back to the main breaker box, which would give you enough temporary power for lighting and to use some tools from any of the sockets that are on the same phase that you're Bluetti is plugged into. Perhaps a DPDT transfer switchbox could disengage the input power to the Bluetti, before engaging its output power to the shop. Just switch off the main breakers (don't forget!), then switch on your Bluetti's switchbox, and "Bob's your uncle!". OR you could just install a proper UPS that would achieve the same objective, automatically. But of course, you already know better than to video doing what I'm suggesting, in case the local inspectors are watching. 😎
This was again a clear and very instructive instruction video, thank you very much for sharing this video, greetings from the Netherlands Hans. And keep it up.👍👍👍👍👍👍🍀💯
I thought this was a very interesting episode. I don't build rock crawlers, and have never welded anything. Those were the most beautiful motor mounts that I, and I bet the majority of your viewers have ever witnessed being made!
You're doing great job and very informative on what you are doing great job Trent. Round your corner edges were want have a sharp edge after your install
Hi Trent, just an FYI most likely the factory motor mount is cast STEEL which you can weld with you mig welder. Cast IRON needs to be welded with NI rod or stainless steel rod and a different technique. Keep up the great job and have fun.
Welding question. Why doesn’t he just have a bucket of water that he can cool those hot pieces down in? They ARE the most beautiful motor mounts I’ve seen. Of course I may have seen other motor mounts but as I could never have recognized them 😅 these are beautiful!
wat helps getting the cast iron and other metal at about the same temperature and makes sure it cools down slowly so it doesnt crack is lay the whole thing on the outdoor grille and leave it there for a bit before welding , so it piping hot than after welding put it back in the still hot grille pull down the hood and leave it to cool down
Don't under sell yourself man.Your rocking it.Not everything in life is a roller coaster ride. There's a lot of boring shit that has to be done to make somethiing awesome.
We appreciate whatever you share with us Trent, 👍👍 heck yeah enjoyed this video I’ll be watching for the next one until then peace and chicken grease 😁👍👍😎
Nope, another great Trent's Garage Video. The only change I'd ask is more Brandon. I'd call him Robin to Trent's Batman, but Brandon is Batman level as well. Trent you make the building journey most interesting and informative.
Love the attention to detail, and showing us everything.
Keep on truckin' Trent, keep on truckin' 🙏
Trent, what you do is not boring. It is very informative and I like how you talk to people so they seem on a level surface.
nice work Trent. Plasma cutting is good content. Welding is good content. Fab skills are good content.

Kudos to “camera man” Brandon. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
I love seeing this side of your life! Not just building structures, but doing something you love!
Not boring at all: I love the fabrication videos, a lot better than just bolting on after-market kits. This is why I watch Fab Rats and Matt. I ❤ your “camera man’s” snigger/guffaw when you said it was the most beautiful mount.
My Grandpa was a machine for the Ohio State Garage. From a little girl until now I have always fixed things myself. I'm 62 years old and my husband still calls me a Tomboy. 😊
Happy Father's day Trent. Enjoy your day!
Fabrication takes time plan it re-think it re-plan it re-fit it there ain't no instructions 😁👍
Happy Father's day, Trent! People who made things in the 1800's were the greatest innovators! Nothing wrong with that!
Need longer episodes of Trent’s garage. I do understand you have a lot on your plate but hopefully we can see longer content in the future. Happy Father’s Day.
great day, time that you get away from worrying about the 1 percent but taking step by step is the best way....love how it compliments Trent and Allie
Yay! U got some oil for drilling!
Don’t sweat making it more entertaining, this is great to watch!
Also Trent do yourself a favor and buy Walter zip discs and flap wheels , the flap wheels are embedded in plastic and work awesome!
The orange flap wheels.
Just a hair out of square! Love it! You’ve got this Trent!
Including us in these seemingly little things is what matters a lot-good job and be encouraged that your content is always interesting, informative and the fun factor never gets lost.
Trent, Consider wrapping the headers now with heat tape before they melt something of value. Now is the time. God Bless
You’re doing fine Trent. Keep doing you and your subscriber count will demonstrate the interest we have in this. Could even work the tractor repairs into this series.
What you showed is that all this takes time, so if someone wants to pay a mechanic… well, now they SHOULD understand it’s not fast. Nice work!
Since Surfshark was the first sponsor on Trent’s Garage in the past, Bluetti would be next. 🌊🏄🦈🔵
Trent great job that is something you don’t want to screw up it is good to see you take your time.👍
trent I hope my motor mount build for my 1926 speedster comes out this good and yes I can see why this takes so much time , I thought it was just me , chris
We all want to see what you do every step of the way in building this awesome rock crawler.
You did a grand job don’t pull your self drown buddy iv been a mechanic nearly all my life and I still love 90% of it your doing great carry on doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks it’s great
I know nothing about anything automotive and I love watching these videos.
You made progress Trent, small parts take time to build, you did great.
Trent, love your video's. They are very educational. Just some minor criticism which is not intended to be negative, but watching your explanations is like seeing you wave your hands and talking in detail for 90% and actually seeing what you do for 10%.

great job !
Good video. All of life isn’t super exciting and action packed. It was educational.
I love your ability to share your fears .... but you always power on!
I don't really understand half of what you are doing, but l love to watch and learn!
Trent, please wear safety glasses when you are using your drill press. Those shards were flying and I was screaming for you to put them on. An eye injury would be horrible. Let's keep this channel eye pain free. Scared my dogs they left the room.

I’d be proud AF if I did those welds .. don’t be so hard on yourself! Great job Trent.
@Scott prentice
Yes I agree Trent’s welds look great 👍🏻
TRENT, you should buy a digital calipers to measure thickness or diameters and get a chart that shows drill diameters and tap size and tape it to your toolbox lid underside for easy access. This will help so their's no guesswork at the right size.

Love each post, always informative and enjoyable
Trent that was entertainment enough for the video thank you
You did a great job small projects take time just like when I chrome plate parts for antique cars
High School Shop Class 101, Safety Glasses when using the drill. I can hear the teacher yelling now!! That being said, good video.

totaly agree
Good morning Trent and happy Father’s Day Yep I’m here watching
I have seen many professional welds that aren't half as clean as yours. Also, keep the stache. This is your best look.
Great setup with the Bluetti!
I would go one step further and make a male to male power cord 😱 to plug into the shop's power whenever the grid goes down.

My car dealer is charging $900 to replace my car engine's motar mounts. I had no idea it was this labor intensive. Thank you for the demonstration.
Trent, we will watch anything you record for us. We can't wait to see the finished product!!!
Keep making the videos! Learn something all the time!
This was again a clear and very instructive instruction video, thank you very much for sharing this video, greetings from the Netherlands Hans. And keep it up.👍👍👍👍👍👍🍀💯
Hey Trent! Happy Father's Day! Have a great day!
Your videos are fine and informative! Thanks and stay dry!
Trent, it’s like making sausage. Sometimes it’s difficult to watch the process but the end result is always fine. Enjoy your problem solving skills.
Trent enjoyed your excellent demo of welding up motor mounts👍👍👍👍
I thought this was a very interesting episode. I don't build rock crawlers, and have never welded anything. Those were the most beautiful motor mounts that I, and I bet the majority of your viewers have ever witnessed being made!
Baby steps young man, oh Happy Fathers Day...!
Love Sundays cuz trents garage is on. Missed y'all Friday.
Good morning Trent you are doing awesome Job 👌 Happy Father's Day. Enjoy your time together with your family 😊🎏🎏🍺🍺👨👩👦👨👩👦👨👩👦🚗🚗🚗🍺🍺🍺🍺
Happy Father's day to you and Is Brandon🥃🥃🥃🪛🛠🗜🔨🛻
Your selection of tasks to film, in this build is excellent!! Keep on keepin’ on😊
Definitely some good info there. Just the kinda stuff I was looking for to watch.
I need you for my mechanic.Because you know what your're doing.
I wanna see you make a tube chassis buggy next! Hahaha
You're doing great job and very informative on what you are doing great job Trent. Round your corner edges were want have a sharp edge after your install
Personally, I enjoy watching you make a few motor mounts out of several motor mounts.
Hi Trent, just an FYI most likely the factory motor mount is cast STEEL which you can weld with you mig welder. Cast IRON needs to be welded with NI rod or stainless steel rod and a different technique. Keep up the great job and have fun.
You’re right i goofed by calling it cast iron
That's good news. I was hoping it wasn't cast iron. That would be a disaster.
I've been waiting for this one to see the process. love these videos
Happy Father’s Day to you and Branden
Thank you so much Jen Jen!!!
Looking great Trent
Wow, you two are coming right along on this part of the rebuild! Very cool.
good welds dude, you've become a decent welder.
🎉❤ Congratulations!!!! You did a great job 💯
Great video! I was a mechanic in my past life but not to the extent you go into. Enjoying watching you build this crawler!!
Welding question. Why doesn’t he just have a bucket of water that he can cool those hot pieces down in?
They ARE the most beautiful motor mounts I’ve seen. Of course I may have seen other motor mounts but as I could never have recognized them 😅 these are beautiful!
Trent, Just want to say that I have enjoyed every one of your Trent's Garage videos so keep'em coming.

Just a hair out of square won’t be too bad for a Crawler. You are doing a great job Trent. So don’t sweat it. Lol
I like this new channel, thanks Trent for posting weekly, I enjoy seeing the progress on your truck.
We appreciate whatever you share with us Trent, 👍👍 heck yeah enjoyed this video I’ll be watching for the next one until then peace and chicken grease 😁👍👍😎
