A little recommendation: if you're going to leave the background music at that level, also raise your mic volume level or your voice channel during post processing. Aside from that, good video.
Thanks Hazma. Yes wasnt the best sound in that video. Was my first. I am hopefully getting a little better in newer videos. I have been using iMovie to edit but I think i will change to something that gives more control over sound etc.
Thankyou for the kind comments and I am glad you liked it. The sound levels were not right and music definitely was too loud. I hope I am learning and getting newer videos a bit better!!
One of the cheapest on the market and i have read reviews of a short life span with this product would like to see an update at this point to see how this product has gone for you , thanks.
A few major mistakes.... 1st of all, i would never apply that permanent thermal glue to the ram chips instead use thermal adhesive, it will be a PAIN IN THE ASS to remove them after they cure (thermal glue)... 2nd Put heat-sinks on the VRM's as well, even if they don't heat up that much and have that fan blowing towards it, ensure they are properly cooled... 3rd DON'T tighten with a screw driver the back screws of the back plate as you RISK TO CRACK THE CHIP DIE
If you mean "no matter which manufacturer" in regards to the graphics card then no it doesn't make any difference and will be actually the same. If you get an AIO from another manufacturer may be a bit different but the card will come apart the same and I'm sure it will be very similar to fit .
What do you mean Aio from another manufacturer ? Im looking at Frostflow 240g from ID cooling like the one you got yourself. Idk will kraken g10 fit. Is there any other aio for gtx 1070 that you know about ?
I think the frostflow is excellent esp having a 240 rad but i know evga do 120 rad HYBRID Water Cooler (All in One) for GTX 1080 and 1070. It fits their founders edition card so should fit any founders edition as it states its compatible with all "reference" style graphics cards www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=400-HY-5188-B1
Yeah... I saw that cooler too. But i dont think i cant find any of those 2 coolers in my country :((( There are only ID cooler for cpu and gpu ( hunter Duet ) and i cant find anywhere Hybrid AIO too. My only option is to get some bracket like Kraken g10 and some AIO like x31 or some other... Hows the temps on your gtx 1070 while gaming and which games you play ?
HEHHEEHEHEHEE that background music I can't bloody hear you mate! Mate deffo mic volume up and music volume way down. And not the mad mouse music at the start :) But other than that pretty good vid production and thanks - very helpful to make it less intimidating to others.
Hey man! Super cool video, I liked and subbed, I was just wondering if that silicone paste came with the cooler or if that was something I'd have to get myself
One more question if you don't mind. The pomp and the cooler that cools the VRM did you connect them together with the FAN SPLITTER or separated? thaks!
little question here... what set up you used to test this gpu mod. I'm interested in mob, cpu, ram and hdd/ssd? Regards nice vid, a bit too much music. lol
In that build we used an intel 6700 (non k) 16 gigs of ram, 512 gig ssd, msi 1070 founders edition, and an asrock z170 matx board. Sorry about the music !!! :)
Is the silicone permanent? if so, does that mean you can't remove the heatsinks any more? have you tried trying to remove the heatsinks after this build?
no, the radiator fans don't plug into the GPU as does the original air cooler fan, originally on the card. You have to connect the rad fans to the motherboard or PSU.
Hey thanks alot of the sub. Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes the wiring quality is good. The overall quality of the kit is good better than we expected to be honest :)
Got mine today, I'm using it on a 1080 ti. Working wonderfully, got the same temps as you do (Superposition benchmark for 1 hour, temp stayed around 50 °C. The thing is, their website says the pumps max rpm is around 2500, mine only goes up to 1300. Just wanted to know if yours is the same, or mine is deffective.
Yes the VRM were cooled fine. The fan that cools them is very quiet. But the radiator fans we decided to change (for Noctua fans) as they were not as quiet as we wanted.
Yeah, that thermal paste is all over the place. Are you sure you put enough? Maybe more should do it, for at least some to remain on the gpu die after all that wobbling around.
The original back-plate was never meant to have that sort of watercooler back-plate torqued down on it... Those thermal pads on it do transport heat, but are also required to stand the back-plate away from all the electronics... That is why there are the 4 holes in that plate for the actual mounting screws around the GPU itself, and all the other screws that actually hold it on are tiny... Putting that water block mounting plate on with the original back-plate between will result in either not enough torque to do anything, or if you actually do torque it down tight enough you are going to short out all the electronics on the back of the card... Not hating on you, love your other videos because they have helped me a lot, but if people actually follow this one to the letter they are going to fry their card, and the manufacturer wont cover this under warranty because this is clearly user damage...
Hi man I ve got an nvidia gtx 1080 and playing, my gpu touch like 75 degrees, I would like to go for liquid cooler for my gpu, but I do not know what is the best for me, what do you suggest? I've got already a liquid cooler for the CPU too thanks
Make sure that you don't make the music louder than yourself in future videos, also buy a tripod or put the camera on a higher place, because in the entire video I'm only watching your hands and I can't see the card properly
Yeah we worried about the same too. But the heatsinks and fan do a good job.The airflow from the fan, even though not directly over the vram, keeps the airflow moving enough to cool the vram well.
I just fitted an evga liquid cooler kit for the 1080 to a 1080ti and it worked really well. Had to do some small mods. Video will be up in a few days I will edit it over the weekend
Its always safer to ground yourself so not to have any static. We work on a wooden table and floor. So its not reaaly a problem. If working on something touch your computer case ir similar with your hand before picking anything up and working on it to discharge any static that may be present. That should cover it
Its fairly quiet. It has 2 radiator fans which are sometimes a little noisy when in a quiet environment. We changed those stock fans to Noctua and it made a big difference
Not really unless like myself you have a Founders Edition with the terrible jet engine and high temps causing the boost clock speeds to throttle. I've just ordered myself a Kraken G12 with a Corsair H55 water cooler as I want to build a near silent while low temperature system and the GPU is the last thing that makes very audible noises even with earphones in.
Spaceinvader One But it looks like 240L equiped with gpu bracket + fan. I mean head pump looks same, then i figure it out can be replace with another frostflow aio. Is that true?
Yes the backplate needs to be removed. Unfortunately it is only possible to put half of the back plate back on. As the other half was held on by screws/bolts which screw into the front casing.
why do you and just about all video reviewers feel the need to have annoying music 10 times louder then your voice, complete and total turn off, no matter how good the review is the music drives you away.
Don't get me wrong, as much of an annoyance the music is the content is very informative and I'll be watching it again when I get ready to install my frostflow (it's sitting on the sidelines waiting for the rest of my parts) of course I'll have sound off LOL :)
Hi James.I hope yes but Im not sure. My brother is waiting for a 1080ti at the moment which we will be liquid cooling with the frostflow or another solution.
Hi Angelo, I know your right, it is too loud. This was my first youtube video. I thought making it would be easy but it was much harder than i thought! Hopefully my newer videos are a bit better!! :)
Yes, your right, that would definitely be a good idea to use heatsinks on the vrms. Unfortunately, the kit didn't have enough to cover all the vrms. The 1070 has 4+1 vrms and the 1080 has 5+1 vrms. There were an extra 3 heatsinks left over after installation that could have been used but extra ones would need to be purchased. So if you did use this kit you would need to buy an extra 2 heatsinks for the 1070 or an extra 3 for the 1080 :)
Spaceinvader One Thank you considering getting this or this RAIJINTEK MORPHEUS to replace my stock ASUS gtx 1080 turbo, thermo throttles at 2GHZ load around 70-84C depending on the game.
If you change your gpu thermal paste every 5 months this should be easy for you. I already ordered 120vga which is the single fan version of this with no rgb lighting for $50 from Ali Express. I'm going to use CM AB 120MM rgb fan for this radiator.
for the love of all that is holy, RE-EDIT this video to remove the fucking intro music, it is HORRIBLE and if that isn't bad enough it completely over powers your voice over. Hey, Daniel. If you have a look at the other comments you will see the sound has been discussed before. Can you tell me if the VRAM heatsinks were included, and if not where you got them? Thanks again!
yes the heatsinks come as part of the kit along with everything you see in the video :)

The first part of the disassembling is useless, you just need to start with the backplate of the 1070, and leave the old stock cooler as it is.
Great... Im planning to put some AIO too on my GTX 1070 Zotac Founders Edition. There should be the same no matter which manufacturer you get, right ?

thank you very much!

Very useful. Thanks
how about the fan's db?
....audible form 0 :38 to around 3:39.....good info when I could hear.
Did you use one or both fans on the radiator?
Hi, Badrstech. Yes used both fans on the radiator. Changed the fans to noctua in the end, as were quieter.
Nice idea! Do you set the fans at 100% speed all the time or less? What are the max RPMs of those fans and have you overclocked your card?
Appreciate your instructional effort but you really need to proof your work. Music is to loud !!
Also is there a way to check the fanspeed of the radiator fans and control it?
no i think you would have to add a fan controller to it for that. By default there isn't :(
really? thats weird. Cos right now the fans are SUPER quiet but the GPU is like 65 degrees when playing GTA V 144HZ G-Sync..
what about grounding yourself? is it needed?
Its always safer to ground yourself so not to have any static. We work on a wooden table and floor. So its not reaaly a problem.
If working on something touch your computer case ir similar with your hand before picking anything up and working on it to discharge any static that may be present.
That should cover it
Great vid. Struggled to hear you though pal.
Hi, mate,
My question is how noisy the water cooler is?
Its fairly quiet. It has 2 radiator fans which are sometimes a little noisy when in a quiet environment. We changed those stock fans to Noctua and it made a big difference
you don't have do water cool if your not over clocking, do you?
Not really unless like myself you have a Founders Edition with the terrible jet engine and high temps causing the boost clock speeds to throttle. I've just ordered myself a Kraken G12 with a Corsair H55 water cooler as I want to build a near silent while low temperature system and the GPU is the last thing that makes very audible noises even with earphones in.
Can it be replaced by frostflow 240L?
no, unfortunately, the 240L is a CPU cooler only and so will not fit. Also, the 240L doesn't have the fan that coolers the VRAM chips etc.
Spaceinvader One But it looks like 240L equiped with gpu bracket + fan. I mean head pump looks same, then i figure it out can be replace with another frostflow aio. Is that true?

lol....ahhh dont ask! It was my first ever video and the microphone was the one built into my laptop!! :(
