- A short Documentary on the life and work of Luther Burbank.
I purchased most of the old film footage of Burbank from the National Archives thanks to a grant from The Exchange Bank here in Santa Rosa. Here is some footage I shot of Burbank's Birthplace, Lancaster Mass • Luther Burbank's Birth...
Here is some additional information for aficionado's. Burbank would taste all of the cherries in the local markets. Then he would buy a case of the best. Then he would eat all of the cherries which he shared with his Mexican labourers, and save the seed in sawdust till spring. He then planted the selected seed in rows like corn. He let the trees grow until they showed their general health and strength, colour and so on. Then he would pull all of the less desirable cherry trees out. He let the remaining trees stay in situ until they formed some twigs, which he then grafted unto a bearing cherry tree. That season the tree would set the new cherry twig graft and the graft would produce the new fruit. If the fruit showed promise, the parent stock would be allowed to mature. He might get only two or three trees out of three hundred sown.
One of his cherry trees had hundreds of different grafts, so the tree bore hundreds of different cherries, and this method proved the fruit in the least amount of time. Utter simple genius at work, which is why Paramahansa Yogananda called him the Buddha of the West. He grew marijuana for his Mexican crew, who he obviously loved, and there is a colour lithograph of Luther standing in front of a four or five metre pot plant. This picture can be found in his encyclopedia of plant breeding.
Another interesting thing is that Helen Keller was mad about Emmanuel Swedenborg, who will prove to be the greatest human being that ever lived when his genius is finally recognised, so Luther was certainly acquainted with the stupendous work of Swedenborg.
Great video, he also became a great friend of Paramahansa Yogananda.
I found his name in a book named " Biography of a Yogi" where the writer Swami Yogananda mentioned him as a " Saint of rose garden " . Love 💘
I came here because of the book Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. There is a dedicated chapter for this good man.
A man in totaly in tune with nature. Thanks for making this video available.
bleeder 9 years later I scoff at you for saying that. A non selenium melinated man who was intuned with nature? LMAO. He toyed with nature like the devil he is. Lemme guess you had no idea that he studied the science of Islam huh? He is the father of genetically modified food and therefore a devil by nature

A good documentary but didn't mention the location of the "small farm" where Luther developed his famous potato. It was in Lunenburg Massachusetts and the house and barn where he lived with his mother stands today.
Thank you very much..👍👍👍👍🙏

Thank you.
This is fantastic. Thank you for making this. I am curious, you touched on Jazz music but did not talk about Luther's interest in Cannabis. It's hard too imagine a man with so much interest in plant medicine not utilizing one of the most potent plants on earth.
Blessed to live across the catwalk from this gracious space he created 💜🫡 Santa Rosa 707 #originalgranddaddypurp #djignitegenetics
