Jess, thank you so very much for this video. I had read so many horror stories online proclaiming Emgality was hideously painful to inject. Your calming video helped allay my fears, and I'm now on month 3 and getting great benefit from the drug, because the pain and frequency of my migraines have markedly diminished - especially this past month. I revisit your video every month when it's time for my dreaded date with the injection needle, review your instructions, and inject at the same time you do in your video. So you don't know me, but you're my migraine buddy, helping me through the monthly injection challenge. I truly appreciate you.

@dowobrien7281 Thank you so much for the sweet message, I really appreciate it but more importantly it warms my heart that the video helps you 💛 I am so very happy that your migraines have diminished in the past month and that you are thriving. Wishing you only the very best in this journey don't get discouraged and remember you got this!!

Hello girls, I join your conversation. I'm glad it helped you...that's horrible, I'm also a migraine patient. I feel like I haven't had much progress with Emgality. I've already tried everything 🥺. But I am encouraged to see several comments from people that it has worked for them. I hope it helps me the same.

Thank you so very much, after 2 whole years of taking this every month, I finally learnt how to do this myself from your video. In fact, I was always too scared to do it myself as I'm scared of injections/syringes. I'm so proud today to have done it all by myself, all thanks to your amazing wonderfully explained video. Much appreciated.

I take emgality as well. I was prescribed by my doctor last month & it took me a whole month to start the injection due to my fear of needles and pain afterward lol. I want to be completely
honest and I'm not trying to scare anyone that's a first-timer like myself. But it does hurt a little to avoid burning. Allow the 💉 to sit out for 30 mins. Also, I totally recommend that you have someone to help you with the injection for comfort and guidance. Or if you feel that you can manage on your own then do the instructions with Ms. Jess in the video. That's what helped me to face my fear, comfort, and gain confidence.

Thank you so much for making this video. The instructions were easy-to-follow and your nurturing voice helped calm my nerves. When you said, “1,2,3” and then injected it on yourself, it gave me the courage to follow suit. I appreciate you doing this for us and pray you are getting relief… ❤

Jess, I want to add my thanks for this video. I was so nervous for two weeks to inject my Emgality, I live alone so no one can help, and my doctor's office would've charged me for a full visit ($300+) to do it with them. You helped so so much showing an actual injection and being honest that it would hurt a little but that you could talk through the pain! I did my two loader injections (in my belly, on either side) and feel so relieved, I can't wait for them to start working and free me to live my life!!
For me, the actual injection didn't hurt so much - it did burn, but less than three minutes later and the burn has mostly dissipated. I've gotten a small tattoo and in comparison, the pain of being tattooed was a bit sharper and more drawn out, this was much easier to handle. I bled a little at the first site but not more than a few drops altogether, and my second site didn't bleed much at all.
Again, thank you so much!!! This video made a world of difference for me.

Thank you immensely for making this. I also have fibromyalgia so some parts of my body have become more sensitive to pain in the past few years. My left upper arm was horrible (but right upper arm more manageable). I don't know why but the stomach injections have been scaring me, though someone just told me it wasn't that bad. I wanted to find a video of someone trying it to see where would be a good spot and actually watching someone do it. This helped me feel a lot better for my injection today.

I know it has been three years since the original posting of this, but I was just prescribed this medication and have been putting it off for weeks. Just decided to do it been sitting here for a half hour trying to work up the nerve to push the button, I watch some other video. The guy totally freaked me the heck out but watching this video, give me the courage to push the button as you counted and did yours. The needle prick itself wasn’t painful, just some burning sensation.
    Thank you❤

Hi! I controlled my NDPH with Nortriptyline for a while and had a semi good control of those when I started Emgality so it’s hard for me to pinpoint what I can say is that it did help my overall case with everything all together and in conjunction with Effexor for my vestibular migraines. I had a really complex case and I am living a full life now so I can honestly say that it gets better! Wishing you the very best! I was also able to quit Effexor and Nortriptyline after a while too! So there is hope lots of it! Wishing the same for you!!

I don't think i ever could. I'm ok with needles i just can't willingly cause myself pain. and yes, it's painful BUT the pain only lasts ~30 seconds then goes away completely. just whack an ice pack on and bear it for those 30 seconds, you will be ok soon afterwards!

When I asked the pharmacist at Riteaid how to use the autoinjector she didn’t know. Thanks for the video! Do you have any side effects from it? How long have you been using it? Do you still get migraines and do you take anything else to treat them since Emgality doesn’t help with acute migraines. Sorry so many questions but my migraines are debilitating and I’ve tried so many different treatments! Unfortunately, I’m very sensitive with side effects so I have to be careful. Imitrex just put me to sleep and slurred my speech so I couldn’t take it at work or while I was driving, plus sometimes the migraine would come back even worse! 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🤕

I know your struggle and feel deeply for you as it took me a long time to get mine under control and many medication trials but eventually I found a good route. @jessuncharted  Рік тому

Hi! It’s because some people have some really hard to manage migraines and one treatment is not enough so they have to supplement the injection with other treatments to try and get relief. The most used one is the emgality injection with Botox or also maybe nerve blocks depending on the person’s needs but not everyone needs it only those with hard to manage migraines that happen very often.

The pain for me is almost unbearable seeing you hold the emgality pen give me extreme anxiety :( the first shot I took my dad nurse did it in my arm and I passed right out and hit the floor. Had to do the next shot in my leg after that too. I do the injections in my legs now and I have anxiety the whole day knowing I have to do it and the pain is unreal. My dad still does it for me. He says the pain is because it’s a lot of liquid being administered at one time, the way you did it in your stomach I might try next!!

Oh no I am so sorry it hurt so much! Honestly I think the stomach and buttocks is so much better and hurts way less than the arm or leg hopefully that helps and it eases your anxiety a bit and helps make it more bearable for you. Anxiety for me can truly intensify pain in my personal case so I try to take a deep breath and remind myself that’s a brief period of discomfort and pain in exchange for a better month and that I can do it and I will be okay so I am in a better place when I do it. I hope that helps! Sending you so much sunshine ☀️ and peace.

    • @jessuncharted
      @jessuncharted  3 роки тому +1

Hey! On your first double dose make sure to do one dose per leg if you decide to do the belly then do opposite sides. It does sting but is not too bad and totally bearable and it will go away briefly! Honestly I didn’t have any immediate side effects right after injection I went about my business for the day. FYI I think the leg is more uncomfortable than the belly but that was just my experience. Good Luck with your first injection remember you got this!

I left it out for 30 minutes to get to room temp, and it still hurt and burned. What's crazy is I have a full arm of a tattoo sleeve, lol! Yes, I am aware of that hence why it was never instructed to shake the injector at any point nor do I forcefully shake it to mix it, I do handle it a lot to talk about it and then place it on the table for a while to settle just in case before being injected. As you know videos are edited and your time frame is different to actual real live time. I recommend you to watch the emgality official instruction video, I think you might find that a bit more descriptive including things like don’t microwave, freeze etc, you can find it here on YT under emgality galcanezumab.
