There are thousands of landless and unlanded courtiers in Crusader Kings 3 and many of them are unique, historically relevant or contain an easteregg related to CK3’s development. In this video we will explore the top 10 most interesting landless and titleless characters in game and play them by landing them with a title and swapping characters. Landless characters cannot be played in Ironman mode but are fully available in normal mode via use of CK3’s menu screen (future DLCs and mods could change this). This was recorded using the 1.4 Patch and the Northern Lords CK3 DLC.

where is hrolf de normandie in the 867 start date?
Wheres the new vid at?
It would be nice being able to play as unlanded and picking a court to go and then influence your way into having land, similarly to mount and blade
It would be cool. Might even be in the plans for CK3. They changed the way unlanded characters work compared to ck2 and they now actually ''do'' things while being unlanded. Also you do not game over when you cheat your way to an unlanded character and if you get landed game continues as normal.
That was a mod in CK2 called Rise to Power. The guy who made that is currently doing a version for CK3
@@gregorm6605 sweet!
Loved RtP for ck2. Hopefully Pdx unlocks the stuff he needs to finish it
Even just being able to switch a ruler with non-generic unlanded characters using something like the character designer so we can play these characters on Iron man would be really nice.
Holy. A future German king in Ulm? Ulm truly is powerful.
gott mitt ulm
Ulm is playable? As in the home of the legendary house von Ausfern-schplenden-schlitter-crasscrenbon-fried-digger-dingle-dangle-dongle-dungle-burstein-von-knacker-thrasher-apple-banger-horowitz-ticolensic-grander-knotty-spelltinkle-grandlich-grumblemeyer-spelterwasser-kurstlich-himbleeisen-bahnwagen-gutenabend-bitte-ein-nürnburger-bratwustle-gerspurten-mitzweimache-luber-hundsfut-gumberaber-shönendanker-kalbsfleisch-mittler-aucher von Hautkopft? @@BastiatC the very same
I am very distraught that ck3 has a character limit for names
"Happy little accidents" is basically the motto of crusader kings
If it works for Bob Ross it can work for anyone.
Sad big mistakes fits better
You kind of forgot Hrolfr de Normandie. He's a landless courtier in the Trondheim area.
The ancestor of William the conqueror.
@@nillman Yep :) Technically you can still play as the guy in Ironman since the ruler there has a son that has the same first name, and in history Rollo is either the son of that ruler or someone else, so we could technically still make the de Normandie dynasty but we won't be able to have the cool ass coat of arms though :/
I think you mean Rollo the man who will found a family that, albeit through female line members of his family, will conquer a third of the world
@@inadequate558 yeah his name is Hrolfr in old Norse and Rollon in old French and Rollo in modern French or Norman. Though interesting to hear the line lived on matrilineally.
@@Torag55 well, of course they are, all british monarchs are his descendants, they just switched names of the house because line continued through females.
There is one more. Leonardo Theoderisian in 1066. He is the only character of german culture in the entire game. He is not the best stat wise but a good character for interesting playthrough.
Where's he at?
Yeah where is he
Where
WHERE
We'll never know
I captured El Cid accidentally after defeating a small Castilian army he was commanding. I was playing as Matilda di Canossa going for the Give a dog a bone achievement and was in my independence war from HRE, who had called Castile as an ally. I recruited Rodrigo and he went on to be my best commander. I eventually made him the Duke of Corsica in gratitude of his service. I didn’t know he was a historical and rare I landed character, but I recognized his super stats and put them to good use!
You Mean Rodrigo “El Campeador” De Vivar The Best Marshal You Can Get Playing As Sancho II Of Castilla?
He’s Really Easy To Find As In The Game He Starts As King Sancho II’s Best Friend.
Yes, his historical wife is Ximena. The daughter of Count of Oviedo.
"Don't worry about him sleeping with your wife, you'll have giant genes after all"
Friedrich von Hohenzollern is actually a playable count now after the Royal Court update. He holds the county of Zollern in the Dutchy of Swabia, Germany. 1066.
There is also a Hohenstaufen count in that area. So you can recreate the Hohenzollern, Habsburg, and Hohenstaufen's respective rises to power within the Holy Roman Empire.
It actually varies which court Frederich Hohenzollern starts out in. In my first game, he was hanging out with Werner von Hapsburg of all people!
Quite ironic, reminds me of the time Karl VI of Habsburg saved Friedrich II from execution (by Friedrich's own father!), later Friedrich "thanked" the Habsburgs by waging war against Karl's daughter Maria Theresia right after Karl's death, taking Silesia from her. Friedrich died in 1786 and got finally buried in 1991. This is no typo.
He was hanging out with an Hapsburg?!
Wow.
This Yeshua healer guy reminds me of some guy 2k years ago, but I cant think of who.
Next on AlzaboHD: From a vagabonding homeless man to the Roman emperor in a single life
Thank you for helping us reach 100k subscribers! The time for our horse dynasty is almost neigh - we're returning to CK2 later this month!
Congrats!
YES! I love horse play throughs! Shame ck3 doesn’t have them.
Oh sweet didn't know you hit 100k.
See you at 1m next year 🤣
Congratulations, and huzzah for another equine episode!
YES-
I mean, congratulations!
But also
YES
A woman with the dynasty name of "frostwhisper" (yes, high intrigue skills) and with a black spider as a dynasty shield can be landed and played from the Polish court in 1066.
There are also a few other cool chars with custom dynasty shields in Poland at that start date...
these are easteregg characters, with that definition in their ID, they actually represent the DEV team or some of them
Please please please do a Rodrigo “El CID” CK3 campaign!!
I would love to see that playthrough
One day I'm gonna do a El Cid campaign and eventually create a religion that mixes islam and catholic to refer El Cid work for both sides
@@alphagamer9505 mozarbisim
You can find the ancestors of Henry Tudor in North Wales in 1066, their dynasty is called "Brynffenigl" and their coat of arms is the modern day Welsh flag, they're unlanded so you can't play as them without shenanigans unfortunately.
My first time playing CK3 as a female I married El Cid and our son became emperor of Francia.
Not gonna lie, was not expecting two Paradox employees to be in the game
There is this really interesting character in 1066 called charna frostwhisper, I think you’ll enjoy finding her
Didn't 'Let's game it out' get married to her?
None of these people are as good as horse rulers in CK2
Swear to you on my life that I’ve seen one on game, my ck3 was bugging out while loading and for about a second I saw a horse man in full on emperors clothes staring at me
@@miffed8887 same happens to me when I finally select a country to play as
@@CARILYNF yeah i think they put that on purpose
This is scary @@miffed8887
> Bishop of Ulm
Wait a second... the origins of the dynasty that created Prussia and Germany... comes from ULM?!
The memes are true!
The pronunciation of von Hohenzollern is very funny.
El Cid! Saved my army from demise repeatedly when doing a Sancho the Strong campaign. Eventually made his descendant the king of Valencia after creating the Empire of Hispania within the next four generation. Good times. If I might add, there's also Robert de Brus that appeared in 1066 start in William the Conqueror's court,if you fancy to try and put him and his house at the throne of Scotland more earlier than the historical timeline.
Hopefully they'll let you play as these unlanded characters one of these days on Iron Man Mode
I’m shocked Ubbe, son of Ragnarr, didn’t make this cut since he has fantastic stats and starts landless in the court of his brother, Halfdan. I also read many comments and didn’t find a single comment talking about the Ubbing dynasty. Y’all sleeping on that Viking, he’s got fantastic martial and prowess!
Oh wait I found someone in the comments brought him up XD had to scroll a lot though.
You forgot Tatikios Tatikid, the only character with 8 traits who was a famous general of Alexios Komnenos. Also, that "Frostwhisper" woman with a cool spider coat of arms
I am a greek and i have never heard of him before!
@@nickpapadopoulos9978 i randomly found him and googled thinking that this must be a historic or easter egg character. His parents probably were turkish slaves to the Komnenos family. Alexios and him grew up together and were friends
@mortaché same as John Axouch, a turk slave who was gifted to Ioannes II Komnenos, son of Alexios I Komnenos. They were best friends during the reign of Ioannes, and he became the main commander of the Byzantine army
You should do a campaign with some or even all of these!
This is amazing. I was looking for content on this but couldn’t find anything. Thank you for producing this 🖤
According the the credits screen, Joacim Carlberg is the art lead of the game
There's also the Famous Viking Rollo of Normandie! He's in the court of the count of Niďarøs! I played a game as him and tested the limits of the forn Normandie decision. Which actually can convert every ducky bordering the Sienne River into Norman. Paris included.
Alzabo's narration is just so relaxing. Love it.
Love the videos, this one was fun with all the easter egg characters. Cheers!
Did NOT expect to see my hometown of Ravensburg represented in Crusader Kings :D
In 1066, Merwan, the chancellor to the Wali of Dvin (modern Armenia), is the great-grandfather of Saladin.
My mom: Go to bed, son.
Me: Everything a-boat them.
my mom: GO TO BED!!!!!!
6:05 Ulm: "I am inevitable."
Restoring Assyria (at least culturally) would be absolutely amazing to see.
Hey, you got what you want
Probably my favorite campaign ever was as El Cid.
Ubbe Ragnarsson is another one, he starts in the court of Halfdaan Whiteshirt
Woah! This video takes on a new meaning now that you can play unlanded. Can you make a follow up video after the DLC drops?
Translation
"These are the people you want to invite or Capture and Recruit into your court, and then marry into your family."
Man I love El Cid, learnt so much about him from AoE2.
Honestly, thank you, this seems like just the thing I need to actually getting an engaging ck3 campaign going again.
Thanks for the support!
CONGRATS ON 100K!!!!!!
Can't believe Ubbe Ragnarson wasn't on this list. He's the only unlanded son of Lothbrok.
Now that lowborn characters will be now playable in the upcoming DLC this vedio has aged very well!
I literally screamed when I saw that you had uploaded! 😂😂
I learned a good amount of ck2 commands, and I think they work here
Do charinfo in the console commands, then find the character with the character finder (if ck3 has one) and you get the ID
Do “play” in the console commands, a space, then the ID
Can never go wrong with an Alzabo ck video, snacks out ladies and gentlemen.
Video aged like wine
Awesome to know El Cid is in the game. I'm currently playing as King of Navarra but I started in the 866 I believe it was. I wonder if he will show up anyway by that time.
I’m a new subscriber but I fell in love with your CK3 timelapse campaigns ❤️
i was going to write a huge commentary, but no matter. awsome work, friend.
An interesting and challenging start would be count herbert of vermandois since he is the head of the house karling in the 1066 starting date. I think it would be interesting to see a karling restoration in 1066 challenge.
sub'd. love your content. thanks!
You forgot Hrolfr of Normandie who is also known as Rollo. He starts in Norway in the middle (forgot the name of the dynasty), but he is a marshal there.
Have you noticed that Ximena, El Cid's actual wife is also in the game as the Count of Oviedo's daughter (as it is IRL). But they''re not married yet :)
Dunno if they are in CK 3, but in CK 2 I remember seeing William Wallace as a Quick, Brilliant Strategist marshall of some duke in Scotland, and Tomazzo D'aquino with some italian count. Saint Thomas is rather interesting, because while his highest stat is theology, his educacion is martial, so he's a perfect candidate for an unification of Italy while forming the warrior-philosopher bloodline
I’m surprised we’re seeing not many, if any Byzantines on these lists. Given how powerful they’ve been/are currently you’d think they’d have noteworthy characters for the lists.
I would LOVE to see you play as Ivan the Lowborn Giant and see how his dynasty fairs as a landless lord!
I’ve searched all over Bukovina and Bulgaria, I can’t seem to find Ivan the Giant… is he one of those that generates when using the find champions option? Or is he only in the PC version?
Yes I know it’s lame playing CK3 on Xbox… No I don’t have enough money to get a decent PC at this time… it was free on the Game Pass. Also it stinks that the Xbox version doesn’t have the search character function so I can find some of these “hidden gems”
i noticed in my slightly modded game that Hrolf af Normand was my courtier (that i had made into my marshall).
When i noticed this i used a mod to refuse him to travel and made him my concubine, best partner i’ve had all game
Great video!
Do you plan to post in the future a walkthrough as Daurama Daura and destroy the patriarchy?
In pretty sure in the 867 starting date. You can give land to the Normandie Dynasty. I’ve only ever found him once after capturing in battle. And I’ve never seen it again
lol I just finished playing world of warships and then watched this video. Now I want to play it again.
Cool video!
Kinda sad we didn’t see Hrolfr de Normandie in 867, he’s a courtier under the chief of Brandheimer
Also an honourable mention, you can find Hereward the Wake sitting around in Harold Godwinson’s court.
Can you do an updated video on this with Characters people have mentioned in the comments?
Gruffudd ap Cynan is another one found in Dublin Ireland, Historically he went on to become king of Gwynedd and his son was Owain The great of Gwynedd. though at the 1066 point he's only 11 and he doesn't take charge of Gwynedd until 1081
I did a cid Iberian campaign and I really recommend it
You missed out Roussel de Bailleul playable in the 1066 start in either Normandy or Sicily.
Can you do a tutorial how to copy dna? I cant get it to paste into my character designer, great vid and thanks
I ended up giving el Cid the duchy of Leon after "inheriting" the kingdoms of Leon and Galicia.
I’m glad to see Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar as last one. The guy is pretty OP in CK3 as the book lol
I wanna play as a “start from the bottom” play through, is it possible to play as a poor low born and work my way up to becoming royalty??
Unfortunely no
I've seen playthroughs of that, but they're done with mods.
Okay, thanks for the info guys. I’ll make sure to check mods on steam
I mean, I think you could grant a lowborn a county in non-ironman mode, then switch to them and slowly conquer land to found a kingdom, but there is no vanilla mechanic that would enable them to create an actual dynasty, though if you married them to a character with a dynasty you could have the character's children be born into that dynasty, or possibly keep the entire royal line lowborn if you wanted to. Take my words with a grain of salt though, as I've never actually landed a lowborn character in either of my campaigns
CK2 had a mod exactly like the one your wanting. I think I saw on the workshop that someone was trying to bring it over to CK3, but nothing has released as of now besides a page existing.
Edit: The person doing the CK3 mod is the same person that did the CK2 mod if I saw correctly.
i’ll literally let you talk about anything i love the sound of your voice
Paradox characters with the greedy trait sounds about right :)
My favourte Ck3 channel...
Finally the second part
When they revealed the game they said that pretty much the entire dev team have in game avatars, it'll be fun to find them all
Where do you have to be to find ivan? Is there any specific court?
I’m having difficulty locating Ivan the lowborn Giant… looks all their out that area tried to find him using marriages and checking the local mercenary bands… I’m in the 867 start but I can only find the 9 other giants like Janko, Timotei, Afansiy, & Eustachy. Is there an event for him? Do I have to have my marshal train commanders? Is he only findable during the event where your hunting? I even tried to start a new game where there was no limit to how far you could interact with someone… I’m not sure what else to do
my horse prayers have been answered
Quick question: is that eunuch from ck2 in ck3?
@@AlzaboHD of course!
I'm surprised they made Johan landless.
You'd think they would make him count of Jan Mayen.
let's have a crusade and then another one, every crusade need a friend.
I don't know if this is still a thing. When I play this game long ago, probably version 1.0 to 1.1. I remember Yeshua came up everytime I do search for physician decision. I remember this because he came up multiple times and has Renowned Physician.
Has anyone played with Ivan the Lowborn? I can't find him does he appear later on in 867?
I just figured that everyone overlooked Hassan-I Sabbah (in the game it's written as Hassan I-Sabbah) in 1066 starting date as an unlanded character. If you don't know who he is well, assassin's creed might ring a bell.
YOU FORGOT THE CHANCELLOR OF MUNSTER AND THE DESCENDENT OF MATILA THE HUN!!!!
A comment to bring the algorithms attention to this channel!
in 876 there Rolfr of Normandy in Norway, in court of the count with the holly site,
Nice
The irony, the first Hohenzollern was a courtier in Ulm
I'm looking at you EU4...
Came out of boredom, stayed for El Cid.
now this is interesting
Friedrich von Hohenzollern is landed in the Tip Vol. II mod - count of Zollern.
I'm pretty sure that Ivan guy is a randomly-generated (seed) character. I dunno why you've included him.
@@AlzaboHD Yeah, I’ve recruited countless times the many times I’ve played in the Baltics
@@AlzaboHD Trust me, he's randomly-generated. He doesn't exist in the characters folder - there are no Russian giants. The game generates characters based on seed number; this means you can restart and get the same characters until the game version changes again. He isn't a scripted character, just a result of RNG in 1.4.0.
I really want rise to power to come out for ck3
It is honestly fascinating to see the Habsburgs and Hohenzollerns go from the German lions we know them as in EU4 into their irrelevant positions in CK3.
Dad posted again!
