    Already have a stack of Ryobi stuff and was very pleased to add this for our caravan trips and general use in the workshop/garage where I have a shortage of sockets atm!.
    Great overview, thank you… 👍🏻

    Nice. 150W continuous and 300W peak. A key is the efficiency determined by the heat losses. Would have to measure.

    One of these and the right Badapter (about £20) and you could get 240V or USB from Dewalt, Bosch Professional or Makita 18V batteries, which are all much cheaper than Ryobi.

    For £44 it seems to be a nice piece of backup for light essential loads. I’m thinking it’s ideal for keeping a wifi router powered during a blackout. I don’t have a power wall yet, but this could be a useful stopgap until such an investment is made.

      I think they represent good value for money if you already have Ryobi gear. If you don't have any gear already, then there may be better alternatives but I think this is worth considering.

    So with the biggest battery 9Ah with no losses 162Watts for an hour is available, so how much is usable, how efficient is the inverter?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  Рік тому +1

      No idea on the efficiency I am afraid, just know its a handy bit of kit around the workshop, when camping, etc.

    Is it true you cn plug a solar panel into the USB C sot & charge the battery?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  Місяць тому

      The model I reviewed does not support the solar panel, but the new RY18BI150B does.

    I got one. It ran a 32 inch TV....powered a soldering iron ..no need to buy a ryobi battery soldering iron now...any heaters it runs could someone let me know. Definitely getting another one.👍

    I want to buy one of these and i see on Amazon that there is now a second generation of this tool available and its still 150watts but is double the price..do anyone know any key difference between the 2 and is it worth paying double the money for gen 2 thanks

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  Рік тому +1

      The key difference is that the Gen 2 version can also work to charge the Ryobi battery by plugging into the mains via the USB-C adapter at the rear (you can also use the Ryobi solar panel via the same port to charge the battery).
      Aside from that everything looks the same.
      In my opinion I would save the £50 and get the Gen 1, but depends on your needs.

      @@SpectrumGeeks Ah okay so pretty much the same..I think I will get gen 1 and save the 50 then as I don't see my self needing gen 2..good review and thanks for the info

      @SpectrumGeeks  3 роки тому +2

      I am a massive fan of Ryobi tools (check out my Ryobi playlist on the channel). I think they are well priced and work well. I have bought mine of the years in the UK from Homebase, Amazon and Direct Power Tools. Hope this helps.

    This device wouldn’t be able to charge say a power tool battery? Or power a corded power tool?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  2 роки тому

      It would depend on the draw of the device. Its its less than 150w when this device can power it.

      They restocked and I got hold of one, but beware, they are not highly powered. Couldn't charge my macbook pro. Might be because of the modified sine wave.

      @@DavidLee-cw6ci I got all the alerts when they finally came into stock, but I already bought a JACKERY 1000 Explorer for my off-grid power needs. I’d be needing it for MacBook charging too, so… ahh well.

    can you use a kettle on it or what can't you use on it can you do a video on this thanks

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  2 роки тому

      A kettle is typically around 3000w, this inverter can supply 150w, so it wont work.
      Anything that has a max draw of 150w or less can be powered by this mini inverter.
