Dean would certainly agree! And I can't really disagree. I AM building a 2nd/3rd Ed inspired Bloods army at the moment. Cross compatible with HH of course!
upon rewatching this and the other legion building vids, I'd love to see some more discussion focused videos. it worked really well in this and I'd love to see more.
This was really helpful. My Blood Angels force has been a bit ad hoc, adding Mk VI marines to the Heresy appropriate units from my firstborn army. This really crystallised that I should lean into Day of Sorrows and I probably need some Crimson Paladins in my life. I've also dispensed with the idea of kitbashing a Moritat as my usual opponent runs Alpha Legion (who feel like a really hard counter to BA).
Iron warriors when? :). Just getting into HH. It would be helpful. :). (No, I only play narrative. But this stuff is relaxing. So throw s dog a bone eh? Iron warriors in January while I’m off? Got 140 iron warriors to paint. Help me out here.) Really like the content brother. Keep it up. :)
Since the Angels of Death codex I have been enamored with the sons of Sanguinius, even if I never heard his name spoken and mis-pronounced it in my head for 20 years 😂
Ahaha how did you pronounce it? I came across the Angels of Death cover while scrolling the other night. And just felt it. Pulled out my copy. Got excited. I'm now building a 2nd/3rd Ed Blood Angel army 😁 Metal marines just feel so right.
For the Dreadnought Jump pack you mentioned in the beginning, I found one on Shapeways from Eastern Fringe Forgeworld. It's for a contemptor it says but i've yet to figure out how to mount it now that I have it in hand... And thank you for this! i've been waiting months! new the HH and your videos have been really helpful
I'm struggling to come up with a Blood Angels list that isn't the same as the 40k version (all jump packs all the time). That's why I lean towards Day of Sorrows.
Thank you, these videos are a great help, I have two age of darkness boxes and would like to make maximum use of one for a loyalist and the other a traitor legion without having to source other parts. Would you say Dark Angels, Ultramarines, Death guard, and Imperial fist are probability the best legions for this boxset
All these choices are great! The only reason I'd personally avoid Death Guard is that I don't love Mk6 for their aesthetic. But if you're into it. Then you do you!
@@blackbriargaming5483 Yeah, I agree it's not perfect for DG . I have bounced back and forth with just doing a raven guard and alpha legion force or doing like a siege of terra blood angels or imperial fist and death guard force. I will keep watching and maybe I will get some inspiration
@@ristanraw9321 choose a colour you want to paint and go for it! Sometimes that's the best way to choose 😅 They all have fun rules that will interact with the AoD models.
Great Video. I'm very interested in Day of Sorrows and am thinking about starting a BA DoS army. I was wondering if you could let me know our opinion on Crimson Paladins since I have very mixed feelings about them. They are relatively cheap, WS5 and the rule of the shield + the FnP when outnumbered is nice BUT the weapons are really bad imo, especially against dreadnoughts and other Termis + S8 weapons instakill them, same as normal terminators. I was thinking about giving them Powerfists but then they cost quite a lot and the Legion trait doesn't really do anything except gainst dreadnoughts. Are paladins really worth it, even in DoS lists? Wouldn't it be easier and more points efficient to take Indomitus Termis for around 50 P less per squad, maybe add in 1-2 Thunder Hammers and give them a Land Raider? With the DoS RoW, they will get the same benefits.
Hey guys, awesome video thanks. Can I ask, I've got a squad of Angels Tears with the grenade launchers, and they're like 200pts, I don't know if I've worked that out wrong or if there's something I'm not getting but that seems crazy expensive? For 1W models. Am I missing something?
Mixing and matching weapons is actually a great idea! A couple of rotor cannons to add pinning into the mix isn't a bad idea either. Just remember that it's only in subsequent shooting attacks that the -1T comes into effect, not at the same time as the rest of the unit's shooting in the one phase. If that makes sense?
Sadly the grenade launchers -1 T effect is on a model by model basis, so if you for example wound a gal vorbak with a grenade launcher, only that specific model is T4. That means that you are very rarely going to lower the majority toughness of a unit to make your ACs more effective
In your opinion how well would a day of revelation army with supporting squads deep striking via drop pods work (I’m currently working on my army list and Im hoping I haven’t wasted my money)?
Just fine! As long as those units in drop pods are shooting based 😊 Though not much can take regular drop pods without the RoW. And Dreadclaws are horribly overpriced. And dangerous for those inside 😅
Zephon can't join assaut squads as he has bitter duty He can only join destroyers or his command squad destroyer when he is the warlord I fnd paladin to be quite bad they lack punch in melee Plus they combine badly with days of sorrow as they already have a pseudo fnp in their rules
Whoops! Did we say he could? Yes, of course, all those bitter lads have to hang out together. I think Crimson Paladins are just fine. Especially for only 40pt. They're very much a defensive terminator build. Throw in a Perdition axe and a couple of Power Fists and they'll do JUST fine. But yes, you have to pick their target. There's a shift in this edition with not all melee dedicated units being good against enemy units with a 2+ save. Gaining Line and having Deep Strike natively is what makes them worth taking, not necessarily their damage output. They win games through objectives. Not killing.
@Knekt I would not be so sure I agree it can be read like this but you can also read it the other way around. Plus with this reasoning moritat can also join any kind of unit, which is not how the lore of the unit works
@@blackbriargaming5483just go at your pace. It’s all good brother. Take this kind of thing as enthusiasm. They’d not hit out if they didn’t want more. Odd. But still a compliment. :) 😅
Dawn Breakers are so broken cheap. Most under-costed unit in the game, easy (outside of Dreadnaughts). They should be 40 points at least. The new BA unit in the pdf is 40 points, same stats, worse weapon, no jump-pack, worse rules. Durrr...

great vid as always

Good to see you back making your regular content, hope everything's been going okay for you :)
Things are going great! Back into it after a lovely holiday with the family (that was NOT conducive to creating content!).
Love the video. I didn't think Encarmine Paladin fear stacked with Set The Sky Aflame if the warlord is embedded with the Dawnbreakers?

Nope. You've got it right. Squads with special/heavy weapons gets pretty expensive. Just look at a full 10 Man squad with Lascannons... Not cheap!

On angels tears, mixing in 2-3 grenade launchers really ups the effectiveness of the assault cannons
