I studied CAD and Inventor for 4 years in highschool. Practiced at home too. I feel like such an idiot for getting lost 2 minutes in playing half speed and rewinding several times. Total newbie to blender, downloading the CAD free trial this software is bananas
yeah, Blender can be a little intimidating to a CAD newbie. Mostly because its an art and animation package vs proper CAD. you have to learn some tricks to treat it like CAD, and do a lot of math manually since it lacks most of the design tools needed for mechanical design work. But it CAN do the design work just fine for 3d printing.
Great tutorial, thanks. Btw, you can press dot (del) on numpad to focus on currently selected object instead of dragging with your mouse across the screen = )
Thanks for you work. I am an absolute beginner but a little bit overpowered by all the things you show us. Fast and for a beginner like me, i am 70, way to difficult. But i like the way you explain.
Hey, um I wanna ask, how did you flatten the round? I followed all the parts but I can't flatten the round UV, my middle scroll just zooming in and out
Hey! For some reason when I add array and assign it to the empty box the duplicate that appears is huge, but for you it's the same size and also you are able to locate it correctly, whereas for me the location of it is random. Maybe something has changed with the new Blender version? Because I followed everything correct (I think).
9:25 Should we apply scale to the cylinder for it to bevel regularly or is it actually a practice to go for unapplied scale beveling? (since it provides the wanted result anyway)
Nice tutorial but what about baking diffuse diamond and metal texture if I want to use this ring in video game like Second Life for example? I struggle so much with this as those textures came all black or extra noisy as a render preview, apparently modeling was the easiest part :(
I like tuts like this, but for Jewels render i prefere 200% using Octane or LuxCore (i have Octane for example). Gemstones in Cycles looks like fake gems because of the simple glassa material, It Need a lot of tweaks to achieve a realistic result with separate RGB for create the dispersion effects (that Octane have integrated in his materials) and working with the light paths. Overall the result Is good thanks of the lighting u did, especially in the First example that have the gem a Little bit smaller (and it's Better)
@@adrianfels2985 If u mean Cycle to Octane no. Once u switch from Cycles to Octane u have to change all materials because cycles materials are not compatibile with Octane. U have to change lights too because Blender lights are not compatibile with Octane, u have to use Fill lights as Emission body to work as lights. Plus u have to tweak some settings because Octane settings are a Little bit harder and various than Cycles

when I click on the object offset to select the "empty" something really weird happens, the object duplicates on a totally different rotation and like 5x bigger than the original object, I followed instructions completely step by step up until this point, now sure what I could be doing wrong! help!
Hey there! I was having this issue too. The fix for me, I realized my claw/ holder shape had object transforms and scale nonsense. When making it I didn't go into edit mode and stayed in object mode to move the parts around. So I had to select the claw/ holder and then in object mode click object -> apply -> all transformations. or CTR+A, apply all transformations. Hope this helps!
You go waaaaay too quick for a complete beginner to follow you! Slow it down with your clicking and explain things a little bit more in depth and this would be a perfect tutorial!
my first project :) very helpful and quicker than that 16 part donut tutorial

thank you for making these tutorials, I've learned so much from you
2:33 if I didnt joined the sphere with the other part the object offset would make gigantic arrays of the object.
Why is that so as I dont know why?
im having the same problem :(

Hi Pixxo, Love his one. Thanks

You need to turn on x-ray mode. It's a double square icon in the top header bar.

Those add on come with blender.

That's a built-in addon that comes with blender. What he meant was not needing any 3rd-party addons.
