As a fellow jazz guy, Jonathan is one of my personal favorite players that comes in to Norm's. He is truly an inspiration and Norm always seems to have some incredible arch tops for him to play on. I can dig it!

The bow tie is a striking reminder of how the line between super hip and complete dork is a very thin one indeed.

This is the stuff I come to America to see and hear! What a celebration of Music your country has to offer, and even the antique guitar shops are a worthwhile focus for a whole holiday there! Maybe you could get rid of your congress, and install a big jazz band instead eh???? Love you guys!!!

Jonathan Stout is one of the best and most versatile pre-bop jazz guitarists around. He can do it all: Allan Reuss-style chord melody, Charlie Christian solos, wonderful 4-to-the-bar rhythm guitar, gypsy swing…. He’s putting out great records with Campus Five, solo, and as sideman (e.g. Keenan McKenzie, Forged in Rhythm). He is also one of the most generous in sharing his vast knowledge and insights in fora and his blog (www.campusfive.com/swingguitarblog). Go Jon go!

Sure is nice to know that music is so broad and varied that a player can start out on Metallica and even end up playing swing on an acoutic archtop guitar! Never thought I would hear such a story in my lifetime?

Wasn’t this the same type of guitar that Carmen Mastren played during his time with Glenn Miller’s AAF Orchestra from 43 to 45?

Chord melody is my chief area of interest on guitar, and Jonathan is one of the finest players I've heard in this style. His biggest influence, clearly, is the same as mine -- the great Allan Reuss, who played, most notably, with Benny Goodman's orchestra.

Hey, are any of you guys down in the comment section professionals when it comes to guitars? Cuz I have a Guitar from around the early to mid 90s, but it's got the neck of a Epiphone Explorer and a Floyd Rose Bend Master. I have no way to determine the manufacturer of the guitar. It's definitely on an Epiphone, whatever it is. Also, do something epic for guitar of the day. Like another PRS. those are awesome!

Slayer and Metallica I could not believe it was acoustic. The tones are better than those 2 groups with all their amps and with (those damn) pedals. One other funny thing until Jonathan played those riffs I seriously used to think he was a sort of a time traveler who actually lives in the 40 s and somehow appears at Norm s every now and then. Seriously. :))))
