  • Dad using the excavator to take the flood off our cranberry beds after the berries are all picked up. We have to do it this way because we don't have bulk heads yet.

    Those Detroit 2 strokes are unmistakable when you hear them. Is that a 71 series in a 20-H ? I know the big 1266 Koehring excavators had 2- V-12 71s I think 😳 what a sound coming out of those things all day. And the Bucyrus 40-H had a similar setup possibly. BADASS MACHINES

    Good old machine and brilliant idea putting the GoPro on the boom. Nice!

      +NgtFlyer Thanks, the camera on the boom is actually a cheap spy cam I have. The video on that camera is almost better than the GoPro.

    Nice video. Your dad has a knack for running that old girl. Nice job. How long does it take to drain the bed? Also will you be sanding the beds this winter?

      sony1998 He has been running it a long time. It has built the whole cranberry marsh. We plan to sand if we can get enough ice on the beds and our equipment will run :) It doesn't take long to drain the beds this way. Maybe a day to drain all three beds.

      justfakeit888 It hasn't been run a lot this year.

    • @TheMetalButcher
      @TheMetalButcher 9 років тому

      Yeah. Might you consider doing a history and overview video on it sometime?

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381  9 років тому

      justfakeit888 I could do a walk around when I get some time. Dad bought it around 15 years ago. I have only been on youtube for 3-4 years now. I don't have any old video of it. My dad might have a few pics of it when he bought it but that would be it. It came with some land that dad bought. We don't know where the guy before us bought it.

    Just a "little" play in the bucket pins. Lol. After operating current model excavators with the boom on the right, I think with the boom on the left would mess with me.

      That's pretty much normal. My used to operate an Insley excavator and it sounded pretty close to that. And it had 10,000+ hours when it was retired.

    would be faster with a back hoe or mini excavator. sell this and and invest in a small back hoe. useful tool. just a 3rd person point of view

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381  9 років тому +2

      Green Knoll Lawn Care We have a CAT 416 backhoe. I don't think it would be any faster. Plus a backhoe or mini excavator wouldn't do the job this excavator can do. This thing will never be sold. Dad built the whole marsh with this. It will probably get retired on our gravel pile loading gravel. I know this machine is not very fast but it does the job. It has paid for itself over and over again.

      You kids and your new/fast garbage. Older bigger louder is better. Machines should be heard a 1/2 mile away.
