That was in someway interesting and i'm curious how it would have been for u in front of ur eyes! Well i waited for sooooo long for this vlog😭😭😭 i love your vlogs a lot❤❤
I’m a nursing student and in my first semester clinical I got to see a great toe with necrotic tissue that was going to be amputated. The patient was so cool about showing us and talking about it.
One of my favourite med school vlogs so far. Thanks for showing the realities of death in medicine but also how fun surgery can be- Keep vlogging Kian, we
Ahh Kian you nailed it with this vlog! hopefully many more to come as you document your medical school journey with us. I love how you give such detailed insight into your experiences so that we can get a grasp of what med school really entails. Can I just say that I absolutely adore your channel and have been subscribed since the beginning. Please upload more vlogs and good luck, you'll be the best doc ever!!
Oh my gawwd I’m so vibing with all of this.!!! Midnightsurgeries are my favourite, you get to learn so much more do a lot of active work because there’s very little staff at night! And when you’re a nocturnal being it just works out perfectly.!
I love how much you love surgery, that’s so cool! I’m in school for healthcare administration and I love watching med students find their specialities.
So good to see you back Kian! Great vlog as always, my surgery rotations were where I got the least sleep as a med student for sure. I hope your next rotation is more chill.
I’ve been watching you since you started medical school and the fact that you’re actually in the hospitals now is amazing!! I’m so proud :) I’m a paramedic student in Ontario! I just have to finish 3 months of riding with a service until I can graduate! Unfortunately Covid is super bad here so no service is letting students get the much needed experience right now! Just a waiting game until I get in there. I have been thinking a lot of how I will be handling death and although I have already had my first death in the clinical setting in the ER. I think it will be much different when I am in someone house, surrounded by all their things and the constant reminders of the life that they just had. Any tips ? I’m sure you’ve dealt with quite a bit of death already. I know what I’ve signed up for and I’ve prepared for it I am just curious if there is anything you do specifically to help stay detached :)
I am between doing general surgery or GI . Like both very much ... But maybe surgery more but the amount of work hours .. kinda make me a bit rethink ...if you have an advice or just give me your point of view .
@@joystudy7907 now im still in school and am not at the point of my life of having a job rn but yes i do wanna be a general surgeon and i think of it as getting the opportunity to experience surgery...going through all that learning all the interesting things about it, if you are worried about the work hours then try and look for a less houred work catagory in medicine there are many like cardiology and etc, but if your really passionate about being a general surgeon then do it! I did that everytime when i am about to make decision and study!! i asked myself "How do i want to live in my 60s and 70s? Am i willing to work this job for 30 yrs? Will i still be happy if i did this? Will i be excited as i am rn, where i am at the age of resigning?" Happiness is the most imp, and also giving time for yourself. And thats how i make decisions. How many 24 hr call shifts do you do per week during clerkship? How much time do you have off in between or do you have another 6-8 hr shift after the 24 hrs?
Hi Kian! I love your videos you produce:) It seems like you’re having a fun time in each specialty you went through. So far, what specialty do you like the most? I’m thinking about becoming a physician, but I have a long way to go before I graduate from undergrad. Hope 2021 treats all of us well.
I am new to your channel, and I gotta say, I really enjoyed your gen surg vlog... 😊 Not sure if you already answered that question someplace else, but is surgery a specialty you are considering?

BTW, I'm a PT student and because of covid, we can't really go to hospitals to interact with the patients but hopefully, we will be able to do that next semester. Okay, I will progressively write my thoughts while you tell the toe story; "this toe was so disgusting *takes a sip*" me laughing hard in excitement. The pus you are talking about is something I have seen before as a vet student and vet assistant. I know exactly what you are talking about, it can be disgusting but once you get used to it its not that bad 😎
Heyy your vlog is amazing, beautifully presented! I have a doubt medical students work in ER, give consults and be work in OR? Or is it a resident? When do medical students attend college classes?
What were your thoughts on the toe story? do you want more medical stories like this?

It’s so cool that you get to have such a hands on experience with general surgery in med school (and amputating the toe must have been so cool omg!)
I liked it when you said , staying human but not getting attached balance ... I had a little hard time at the first of my career
THIS IS PROBABLY BY FAR MY FAVORITE KIAN VLOG EVER ✨✨✨ U radiate positive energy when talking about surgery, it definitely makes us smile too
Think that's so true!
Your blog was very well done. Not too much talking and straight to the point. We’re just nosey and wanna see what’s going on anyway lol. Thank you!
As soon as you said “necrotic toe I got to amputate” I was so excited to here what happened lol
I REALY LIKE THE WAY SHE TALK.....SO CALM AND CLEAR...
Don't know what to say, tears of happiness on how far you have come, tears of sadness on some of the content, well done .....
Me to hubs: "She got to amputate a necrotic toe! I'm so jealous!"
