    What a pretty effect! Wouldn't mind seeing the finished page sometime. ❤

    I love the way the effect came out. Definitely need to try it -- I always go for orange/yellow/red combos on jelly fish and have been wanting to try something softer.

      I tend to go more pastel, but the orange yellow red is certainly pretty!

    Omy gosh I’m so excited to try this combo with the white paint pen❤🎉 thank you for saying that about the gel pen on prisma, I thought my pen was the problem. Now I know, thank you very much. Thank you for the tutorial, looks great!❤

      Nah just too waxy. You can use a fixative then do the white gel pen so it has something to grip on

    That was super useful! Thank you! I have used the pastel colored pencils with a glitter top coat to color in some seashells but I didn't in the iridescent effect I was going for. Now I see that in order to get that effect, I need to add the white lines with a white paint pen. Just what I needed to know.

    I love this and hope you’ll post it when you do the blue background.

      I did do the background on my livestream. Just needs a few finishing touches and it will be in my finished June pages I'm sure.

    Love this since I love Jellyfish and never know exactly how to color them! This is the perfect tutorial thanks!
    Curious if you have plans to finish coloring this page. I'd love to see how the jellyfish end up looking on a dark background!

    Are gel pen water disoluble?

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  26 днів тому

      that would depend on which type of gel pen you are talking about.

    Beautiful! Idk why, but every time I use white paint pens or gel pens, it really looks fake or odd. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

      If you find that the white is looking too stark, you can gently go over top of dried paint pen with your coloured pencils to slightly “tint” the paint and have it look more seamless. I’d suggest using softer, “smudgier” pencils (like Prismas, Derwent Drawing, Luminance etc) and making sure you don’t sharpen them too sharp. Also wait until the paint pen is completely dry. You might have some scrape off but that’s an easy fix, since you can just go over the line again (which is why I suggest doing this with paint pen instead of gel pen).
      Another thing I found that helped when outlining with white gel or paint pens was making sure I got ones with an extra fine tip. Then, practice making your lines thinner and more precise. The better you get with creating finer and more precise lines, the less obvious and stark they look. I hope this helps at all.

      I usually use the white paint pen, but if it looks funky sometimes it's the heavy line I'm covering so I will actually erase the line art then go over it with the pen.

      @@ColorfullyOptimistic Oh! Interesting! Do you use any eraser or would something like the Derwent electric eraser work better?
