The soft white pencil in the Holbein set is a true PASTEL pencil. That is why it's the most soft and why you were told not to use a regular sharpener. I bought a little pastel sharpener for it. Other sharpeners work, (but take off too much color, I think.)
I am so jealous of your holbeins. I wish I could get a complete set. But alas, not enough money. My hubby did get me the Lyra Rembrandt colored pencils for Christmas. I have not tried them out yet.
I need to invest in stickles!! 😍 Glitter brings the bling to life!!! 💖 Glitter glue has long been a favorite!! Glitter that stays where you put it!! My favorite color is rainbow glitter!! 🌈🌟 I have the pencil sharpeners coming. My main set is prismacolor and I don't want to deal with a lot of breakage! 👍
-I bought the Inktense pencils and blocks and looking forward to 2023 videos to help me learn how to use them...especially to create gorgeous backgrounds. -I LOVE the jarlink sharpener so much that I bought one for my daughter as well -I LOVE Premiers and Polys. I cannot pick one over the other, one is best for detail and I enjoy coloring in small coloring books. The other is creamy and oh, so easy to blend. Comparing these two is like comparing apples to oranges. -I have to add Pentel Sparkle Pops to add a little bling to my creations. - CretaColor Mega...they are great for doing pencil backgrounds or coloring larger areas and come in a great set of colors. The more I use them, the more I love them!
Love this video! Very helpful indeed. About to buy Inktense and a Dahle pencil sharpener. I see the sharpener comes in two sizes - 8mm and 11.5mm. Which should I buy for Inktense and Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils?
My favourite pencil brands are mainly Derwent but I have recently branded out to Faber Castell polychromos and are loving them. My top pencils are Derwent Lightfast, Faber Castell polychromes, Derwent procolour, Coloursoft and lastly Artists and sometimes Derwent metallic. What Derwent brands have you used?
I have discovered Pentel hybrid brush pens…the 6 I have match the hybrid gel pens…I love them…Have more mono erasers than I should but how can one live without them?🤣 I have just bought the Ohuhu add on Brush alcohol markers to make my set up to the full set after using them for the first time over Christmas…I have just discovered Happy Planner and have one just to scribble in…🤣🤣🥰
These are all great art supplies Pamela, would love to seen a review of these Faber Castel bloc inktense because i plan to bought these but i haven't seen any tutorials or colorists using them so ya that would be great and for myself the TOOLI-ART Acrylic Paint Pens, love these very much and Art Alchemy Metallic acrylic paint, have all love, these colors al ,lot and NUVO the Pure Sheen are bling, bling love, 7 Embellishment Mousse are fantastic for background to end it';s SARASA Porous Pen which are my big discover supplies in 2022 so anyway thank you so very much for sharing your top 10 and completely addicted to these stickles right have them all and buy every times they came on special xxx
Prismacolors are not so readily available in the United Kingdom so I have been trying Brutfuners, Kalour, Castle Arts Gold and Arteza. Dedicated art supply shops are harder to find find too and Amazon is my new best friend😂
This was a great end of the year video. I now finish off most of my pictures with a bit of bling using Stickles all because of your recommendations in past videos. And I agree that the BTSKY cases are the best! Did your contact get back to you about when (or if) this Jarlink sharpener will be back in stock? I'm kicking myself for not trying to purchase one sooner.
I absolutely love my stickles! I’m so glad you’re enjoying them too. I have not heard back from my contact from jarlink yet. I just went to go check my email when I saw your comment. I will update everyone when I hear something which will hopefully be soon.
Interesting video, I think my Castle Arts metallic pencils are probably my favourite set I was given this year, but it is very hard to choose one, I guess that is why you chose ten!!
@@PamelasPassionforPencils I think it has to do with humidity, in Florida the humidity was so thick, and Colorado has zero humidity, plus I was below sea level down south and 1 mile above sea level in Colorado.
Dear Pamela, On Cyber Monday, I bought some beautiful marker books from Colorit. I also bought a set of 121 Caliart Art Markers from Amazon, which was a major expense for me. It seems that there are few dark to medium dark browns, only one true red, and not as many gradients of mid blues, mid pinks or mid greens as I thought I would. It seemed to me that I did not see many colors that would be easy to blend for a beginner. Not being an artist like you, I have no idea how to choose colors to mix together to make colors that I don't have. Does Caliart have smaller marker sets that would supply colors that aren't in my 121 set without a lot of duplications? Are there other brands of markers with small sets that I could add to my Caliart set that would have colors that I don't have now and that would work well with Caliart markers? Do water-based markers have a larger variety of colors in their sets that are more affordable than the same number and quality as comparable alcohol markers? Would water-based markers be more affordable, offer more colors for the price, and those colors be just as vibrant as the colors in alcohol markers in my new Colorit books? It was your review and tutorial on their new Colors of the Jungle book that made me want to try these things. You have a real gift for teaching. Sorry for so many questions, but I really respect your talent, knowledge and opinion so very much. Thank you, for your wonderful teaching videos and honest reviews. I watch your videos almost every day. Dee Powers
Hi Dee! I think it was the 80 set of Caliarts I started with and that was plenty of colors for me when I first started experimenting with alcohol markers. 121 colors seems like quite a lot. I am not familiar with that set and don’t know what colors are included. As of late I have been using my Tombow markers which are water-based. The other said I have been using more often is my Ohuhu, set which is alcohol based. It is really user preference as to whether or not you prefer alcohol based or water-based markers. The alcohol-based markers will bleed through to the other side of your paper. The water-based markers will not bleed through. The alcohol markers will have a stronger smell, and the water-based markers won’t. I would suggest watching videos, practicing, and learning how to use your new alcohol markers. I really hope you start to enjoy them. If you find that you don’t enjoy them, Amazon has a wonderful exchange policy.
@@PamelasPassionforPencils Oh, please show us how to use Tombows! I started with alcohol markers, then I learned colored pencil from you, and I recently got a pack of Tombows to try to learn how to use water based markers. For some reason, I just can't seem to get the hang of it. You've been such an inspiration for me, Pamela. Thank you so very much. :)
@@aprilnelson9044 I would appreciate the same instructions and reviews on Tombows and both water-based and alcohol-based Markers on how to use them alone and as a base for colored pencils

When I lived in Florida, my alcohol markers stunk to high heave, now that I live in Colorado I barely smell them at all.
That’s so interesting!

If you compare the Holbein pencils with prismacolors and caran d'ache luminance, which are your favorites?
Prismacolors will always be my top favorite ❤️
@@PamelasPassionforPencils thank you for your answer!
What sharpener do you use for your soft white Holbein? Thanks!
Yes please ohouho glitter pens!!
So interesting thank you so much. May I ask do you like Holbein more than luminance &/or lightfast?
That is such a hard choice. I would say I use the Holbeins most because of the color choices over the Luminance.
What is your opinion on using Ohuhu markers on coloring books made of Amazon paper?
As long as you put the sheet that comes with your markers behind the page, you’ll be fine 😀

I wish I could afford the Prismacolor pencils. I'm on a fixed income. I'm kinda stuck at the moment.
I add a color each month... why I like the open stock!
