I remember it being called the Easter show, went there many times as a kid, show bags, what a fantastic thing they were, animals cars trucks all on display, there was not enough time in one day for me to see it all. Crowds were huge, got lost from my Mum one time, scary, remember to this day,but it turned out OK. I have forgot many things over my 70 years, but will never, never forget The Easter Show, just sayin'
Oh how i remember going there so many times when i was very young my parents would take me every yr no matter what the weather they where the best and memorable times of my life we would go there early in the morning till dusk i didn't want the day to end i just loved it, as it was time to go home i would look back and cry didn't want to leave from the showground, i couldn't wait till nxt yr, Love the old buildings & the surroundings at Moore Park, my Wonderful childhood yrs ... mum loved woodchopping that was her most favorite Lol .. back then there where much more people, then they are at Homebush i really miss that old girl, i wish i could turn back time wish they hadn't moved I don't like it at Homebush. That is all. I was born 1967 and i can remember quite a lot going there back in those days, just like it was yesterday.
Hear hear terrible to move the show. Great to hear James Dibble as commentator
Those were the days when the old show ground at Easter time, was very special to kids. They also had Empire Speedway Inc, great days
When show bags were 1d, 3d and 6d (for the expensive ones)
1:48 - Reg Lindsay, the famous C&W singer.

Thant is all.
Such a similar vibe to the Royal Melbourne show in the same era. Both seem to have gone downhill since these peak interest days.
Would like to see any Melbourne coverage.
I agree Ross, its just not the same. I really miss the old girl.
same here :'(
" mummy mummy i i i i i " want a wagon wheel !" 😊
I was wondering if anyone knows if there was an accessible online list of all the Australian Diary & Australian Colour Diary episodes made? I seem to be looking in all the wrong places. Ta
"gay" in a time when such things were before the word was hijacked.
Moving the Show from the original location destroyed its atmosphere.
The Royal Sydney show was free for some Australian children and full price for other Australian children. The show is to teach city children about rural lifestyle and how there food is produced. Now the Australian national Anthem is called. Advance Australia Fair. The government should be bloody disappointed in themselves every Australian child deserves a education and Fairly. The words in our Australian national Anthem Advance Australia Fair have been paid for (lest we forget) all royal shows should be free in the future it is not a good look putting money especially entry fees that add up to a days wage for some families at the gate in front of any child's education in Australia.
The show was wonderful and exciting, now we have gang murders to add to the fun
