I understand the frustration with 2K stats on paper but as a player you realize its all relative. 78 overall defense sounds bad but thats actually really high by 2K standards. Jrue Holiday is only an 80, and Wemby is a 74. Additionally, I get the bias but Paolos rating is perfectly fair, especially if Wemby is an 89. All the guys you mentioned being above him are definitely better than him right now. Hes somehere around 30th best in the league. I played hundreds of hours of the Magic in 24 and they actually made them VERY good and true to form imo. And I'm by no means a fan of 2K as a company I had HUGE problems with the game but the ratings were generous.
Definitely disagree. Especially when you compare him to wemby. When wemby has empty stats seeing how he didn’t add a win to his teams previous record. And the context of paolo is always underrated seeing how he did his damage and led his team in every statistic while being like the 5th doubled teamed player in the league on the team with the worst spacing in the league. I think a 90 or 91 suits him more. As for 2k none of the magic players with elite skills mirror their games counterparts. Jalen has like no defense badges, franz has no playmaking badges, Isaac has mid 70 defense ratings and lack of badges. Paolo and franz are slasher but have no speed with ball to consistently get to the rack. Luka has a 74 per defense… franz has a 73, Isaac 75. Fair is laughable.
@GohanBachPlays I'll give you the badge thing. I didn't even realize he had only one defense badge and that's ridiculous, but the ratings overall with the exception of JI is 1000% fair. I get the Paolo context but that's why we excuse his inefficiencies. He is NOT on Wemby's level. Wemby is already a per 36 20's scorer while being arguably the most impactful defensive player in the league. Every single player named that's higher rating than Paolo, at least right now, is better. Obviously JI needs some serious defensive buffs, but Franz does not deserve playmaking badges, as that's not an elite skill of his, and both him and Paolo don't need to have good speed with ball. That's not their game. If you're having issues scoring with Paolo and Franz, you're playing them wrong. You should be mismatching hunting with Paolo, playing out of the pick and role and looking to score in the mid range. With Franz you should be having him cut, again hunt Mismatches against smaller guards and forwards, and combining his INSANE footwork animations with his INSANELY BROKEN floater game. If they had speed to go along with that, they'd be broken.
@GohanBachPlays Franz should definitely have at least 80 perimeter defense but don't get it twisted, JI and Franz are WAY better defensively than Luka. Idk about their other defensive stats, but their animations and builds make up for a lot. Especially JI. He's still a top current defender in 2K even with the low stats. He consistently stops other teams best scorers.
@GohanBachPlays one more thing: you're completely forgetting the 2K intangibles. Doesn't seem like they show up on 2K database yet, but in 24, Suggs and JI have high defensive intangibles (behavior) that makes them more aggressive for steals on and off ball. Basically a whole another defensive stat category, that along with builds, arguably matters more.

I used to love 2K, but it really is gross now how much you have to spend just to play the game for a year.
NBA LIVE had no competition in the 90's.
