Three years ago I'd have said Haney had no chance against Lomachenko. He'd get humiliated, like Rigondeaux or Nicholas Walters. Now I see it the other way around. Haney is vastly improved, bigger, and has gained more confidence and experience. I think Haney humiliates Loma now. Being undersized for 135, Loma relies on his extraordinary reflexes and instincts to compensate against bigger fighters. But Loma is approaching 36 years old now. Unlike a boxer's power, a fighters reflexes are the first thing to drop off as they get older. But Loma never had big power to begin with...and I just don't think he has the edge his great reflexes always gave him anymore. Haney might even make Loma quit on his stool out of sheer frustration, like Loma has done to several other fighters in the past...though I doubt the word "quit" is in Loma's vocabulary.

Lomachenko is a decade older shorter less reach and naturally smaller. All that being said he had been in there with far better competition and has far more advanced skills. Lopez was a far riskier fight than Devin. I thank lomachenko gets into midrange and close range and puts a beating on Haney. Lomas southpaw stance is death to the Philly shell. This will be Lomas last great performance.

Three years ago I'd have given this fight to Lomachenko hands down...that is, if Lomachenko still had the sharpness he had 3 years ago and Haney was, right now, at the point in his development as a boxer that he is now, Lomachenko would still take Haney to school. But I haven't seen the Loma people were once calling the best in the business since before his Teo Lopez loss.
Lomachenko is an undersized lightweight who relies on his extraordinarily developed reflexes and footwork to compensate for his lack of size and power in that weight class. Lomachenko is going on 36 now, he's been relatively inactive, and his head and heart haven't seemed to be so much in the fight game these last couple years. Given all that, it remains to be seen if Loma will still be as sharp as he was in his prime years. Personally, I don't think he has that edge his superior reflexes and instincts gave him anymore. Meanwhile Haney has only gotten bigger in size, more experienced, and more confident these last 3 years. Haney is just entering his prime and is still developing his innate boxing talent.
Now, I've switched and don't see Lomachenko being able to deal with Haney anymore. Haney will humiliate him, like Loma used to humiliate his opponents in his hey day, making them quit mid-fight. It won't be pleasant to see because I've been a big Lomachenko fan all these years. Should be a great fight though...an old master against a hungry, roaring, up and coming young lion. These are the kinds of fights that often turn out to be classics...like the first Donaire-Inoue fight in 2019. This will be the match where Haney seals his station among the most elite ranks of the boxing world.

Southpaws neutralize Philly shells, so if Haney comes in using it, he'll be open for many shots. If Haney wants to beat Loma, which I seriously doubt, he'll need to look at the Linares tape and adjust for the liver shots.

Great fight, but should be noted Loma is not a true lightweight. He could easily make 130 and his ideal weight might be 126!
On the flip side Haney struggles to make 135, he's maturing and there's a possibility this is a fight too far for him at 135.
See it as a fair fight, Loma is more experienced, in his prime, Haney is still learning but is naturally the bigger man. Evens it out IMO 😊

Haney was with matchroom so Top Rank wanted to keep the undispiuted fight in house with Teo , so they requested frenchise belt so they could leave Haney and matchroom out of the picture . Having franchise belt means that you do not have to face your mandatory. Loma and Teofemale both shamelessly ducked Haney and if you say otherwise you're been very disingenuous or misinformed. Nobody just gives up or surrender their belts for someone they do want to fight. Riddick Bowe would have requested a franchise belt to avoid Lennox Lewis but there was no witness protection belt at the time.

Haney should win. Can't count Loma out, but at this weight, he's a bit too vulnerable and punching power too light. Linares put Loma on the canvas so even the lightest of punchers are dangerous to Loma at this weight.
Haney is fast and has some power, but he is a very dirty boxer. Lomachenko is more experienced but I’m positive that Haney is going to run like a scared deer and then try his dirty tricks when Lomachenko gets close to him.

If loma cleans up that cross and rhythm step every time he resets then that jab won't mean anything when fighting off the jab at range. Better inside than Devin and has proven punching power as well. Pure boxer vs the boxer puncher always favours the boxer puncher. Devin's Philly shell defence is not solid enough to create the offence midrange to inside like Floyd. He might get clipped. Now Loman Chanco wants to fight after he took some losses. This is a low reward high rise for devin. If devin win it’s going to come out as Loman isn’t the same he weaker than before but if he win it’s a he’s back reunion.
