Love that we're seeing Marcille and Senshi get along more and more. Their wholesome moments are so cute. Would you eat the worm? **Goes to eat some unagi**
I mean, I have no problem with anything except for grasshoppers, so yeah?
Kelpies are a type of monster from Scottish folklore that live near lakes/lochs and shapeshift into the form of a beautiful horse in order to lure ignorant passers-by into riding them. Once the Kelpie's human prey has climbed onto their back, their skin becomes sticky so the rider can't get back off, and then the Kelpie runs into deep water to drown & eat the poor fool.
Also, the sirens/ selkies/ mammal-type mermaids left simply due to the pure awkwardness of having some rando (badly) singing their song along with them.
oooooooo that's creepy, I'd never heard of it before
@@DefinitivelyZachAdditionally, the reason why the Kraken suddenly turned white after being killed is due to the chromatophores (color-changing cells) common in the skin of cephalopods, and the reason why Senshi stabbing right between the eyes killed it instantly is because that's where it's brain is (the mantle, the big bulbous part most folks think is a cephalopod's head, is actually more like the torso). Hilariously, squid & octopi have a donut-shaped brain that encircles their esophagus like a ring, so any chunks of food they swallow that are too big could theoretically give them brain damage, which is why cephalopods also have a parrot-like beak to slice their food into small enough chunks.
One last thing, there really are some parasites that live exclusively inside the bodies of other parasites, scientists call them "hyperparasites."
@@DefinitivelyZach you can meet them in berserk and ancient magus bride.
when its your turn to karaoke but everyone rush to the toilet or outside - aka laios's singing
LOL true
As an avid reader of the manga, the Senshi Pantyshots are plentiful 😂.
The thing with the Kelpie also really showcases how, even with his love for all things monster, Laios still knows when to exercise caution
He's the most crazy yet the most rational
You would eat it if you heard Marcille say "it was delicious", I think😂
BRO NOT THE GOLDEN BOY CLIP 😂
We have 23 eps not only 12. I really really hope more people know this show because with more another 23 eps, it can take this show end. Manga end with 97 chapters and always get better and better for each chapter 🤧🥰
Yeah I know that, that's why I said they'd maybe save Falin by the end of the first cour, then do something else in the second cour
@@DefinitivelyZach im sorry I hope you don't misunderstand me, I mean i hope Studio will produce ss2
I remember when the anime was first announced all these folks who had read the manga already were so worried we'd miss out on all the Marcille hairstyles. Her hair is an important part of her character!
They’re definitely delivering all of those beautiful hairstyles!
I recommend reacting to the anime “Mr. Villain’s Day Off”.
I saw one of those kelpies before in the second season of “The Ancient Magus Bride”.
I also can’t wait to watch more Sui for the second season of “Campfire Cooking in another world”.
If you like Camping anime, I also recommend reacting to “Laid-Back Camp” or “Yuru Camp” if you haven’t seen it already.
17:16 Ike-jime.
This is a type of Ike-jime called Shinkei(Nerves)-jime, which can be stabbed like this while still alive to keep it fresh.
* Generally, the rigor mortis begins in 4 to 10 hours after the blood is drained from the fish, but the rigor mortis does not begin for about a day after the fish is shinkei-jime'd.
Strictly speaking, I think I need to stab the base of the cartilage of the squid's head(?) on both sides, in addition to the area between the eyes.
However, we do not know much about the biology of the kraken, and this is probably all we need to do in this case.
The squid turns white at once when the nerve is destroyed, so success is easy to see visually.
18:59 Eel
The way to handle the eel is the same as how it is handled in Japan.
In the animation, it is a parasite, but personally, it looks like a lamprey eel, which looks delicious.
Incidentally, in the west of Japan, eels are opened from the belly, while in the east they are opened from the back.
This is closely related to Japanese culture.
In the west of Japan, commerce and merchant culture were strong, and it was considered good to "split the belly," which means to expose one's heart, not to hide it, when making a deal, so the belly was literally opened.
On the other hand, on the east side of Japan, as can be seen from the existence of Edo, the predecessor of Tokyo, there was a strong samurai culture, and cutting the belly was considered bad luck because it meant seppuku, which means to commit seppuku, so the back side was opened.
In the animation, it was not clear from which side the eel was opened, but seeing that they started grilling directly, it may be similar to the cooking method in western Japan.
* Eastern Japan's way of cooking eel is to grill it lightly, then steam it in a steamer and fluff it up before dipping it in sauce and grilling it again.
As Maomao mentioned, the blood and slimy mucus of eel are poisonous, so eating raw is dangerous.
It is even more dangerous because it is a parasite.
21:25 Anisakis
It is probably an anisakiasis.
In this case, the parasite was a large parasite, but it can also be found in squid.
Many parasites such as Anisakis can be killed by freezing or heating, but in the past, freezing was difficult, so heating was the only way to kill them.
However, Japanese people really want to eat sashimi of squid, so we thought about it a lot.
In conclusion, they found a way to kill parasites by cutting squid into thin slices.
This is what is called ika sōmen(squid noodles).
Sōmen are very thin noodles made of wheat flour, less than 1.3 mm, and are called ika(squid) sōmen because of their similar shape.
Of course, it is a matter of luck whether the parasites are completely killed, so sometimes the parasites were still alive.
Like pufferfish, why do they try so hard to eat them?
Is it because it tastes good?
I wouldn’t risk eating that ever!!! Not worth it!!!
@@DefinitivelyZach By the way, did you notice that the voice actress for the mermaid was Saori Hayami?
She is also a great singer.
Honestly surprised this is considered big for a kraken in their world, but if they don't show up outside of places like this dungeon.... then I guess it wouldn't be so outrageous.
thanks man ! :)
ライオスの異常な行動にショックを受ける視聴者を見るのが最近の俺の楽しみ。
いい反応を見るとライオスが魚人の髪を粥に入れた時みたいないい笑顔になってしまう☺
Raw is risky
sometimes worth it in the case of sushi
I don't know, I ain't gonna touch the porridge either, it got mermen eggs in it.
looks more fishy to me, I like roe on my sushi and stuff, so it'd probably taste good
Senshi deciding to butcher and maybe consume Anne later reminds me of farmers who grow attached to individuals in their livestock but have to butcher them in the end. It feels like a sending-off in their own way.
Consuming your loved ones to honour their lives one last time... Sure hope this becomes a core concept of the series.
I can assure you that concept not only happens again, but is arguably one of the core messages of the series
@@korrochime2432 I've been following the manga since 2017. I don't want to comment too much about the middle and end parts about the story.
Reminds me too of Gin no Saji
Great reaction!
tho I expected much more reaction from you when Marcille was continuously stomping the ground, not wanting to cook parasitic worm. I for one can watch that all day, or is it just me?
FYI giant squids in real life contain too much ammonia in their meat, making them extremely stinky and practically inedible. I think that's why Laios hated it and why they chose not to cook Kraken.
haha she's so freaking cute
In relation to the kelpie, horse meat is actually good IRL, and my favorite is this Filipino dish called Tapang Kabayo, which is horse meat cured in soy sauce, calamansi (Small citrus fruit found in the Philippines, similar to lemon and lime), and spices. Best served with garlic fried rice and fried egg, which is also an ideal breakfast meal.
*party reaches water level*
me: *has post traumatic stress flashbacks to Ocarina of Time Water Temple and the obscene annoyance of equipping and de-equipping the Iron Boots to navigate*
😵😵😵😵😵😵 dawg don't remind me
OH and a part of this episode that got cut, (this whole episode is arranged very differently from the manga) is Marcille's cooking of the soap. I'm kinda sad about it, it really parallels Senshis cooking and shows how Senshi doesn't really trust elves or magic, but now he respects how much time and effort she puts into her magic. He starts to be more accepting of her way as not just the easy way out, but as a practiced art.
Now we have 3 type fanservice but i here for 2
Fanservice in Frieren and fanservice in Dungeon Meshi 😂. My fav time for anime ever
Well, eating the Mermen was not too much of a moral issue... Kinda... The manga goes into more detail, but basically Mermaids (or the Siren, not sure which way you'd call them) are basically Humanoids with fish like characteristics, so yeah... Those are absolute Demihumans like the Kobolds we've seen so far or other races in the show that can be considered more "human like". Still a threat though. While Mermen are fish that gain Humanlike characteristics at the later stages of their lives. But they do reproduce, lay eggs are looks pretty much like regular fish until they reach maturity... So yeah, those are just fish.
Also, Chil's race is known for its amazing hearing, so it's common for sailors to bring them along as some sort of "Siren alarm". Since, save for maybe one or two other races in the show, they're the ones who will hear the Siren way before the others and thus, they can avoid them... Heck, the reason Laios took Chilk on this little side mission is precisely because he knew there'd be Sirens on the floor and wanted to be safe 😂
The horse Kelpey on Ancient Magus Bride it said they pull people into the water and eats them.
The porridge looks delicious, and the parasite eel too.. But I think I will be more cautious when eating that parasite meat
