My life is fucked up enough why would I want to see myself becoming more miserable in a video game?
I don't care if DEI stuff is in a game as long as its an organic part of the story and setting. You don't need to define the sexuality of every character if its not connected to the story. Nor do you need to include a lot of racial diversity if its contrary to the setting. Forcing those things in ruins the story. If you want a story about diverse racial groups, choose an appropriate premise and setting. You don't want a white guy as the lead, then write it so that it is natural for your character to be the lead. Don't write them as a white man but draw a black woman. So much of the DEI stuff is done in a clumsy, unnatural way.

Making games nowadays is easier than ever. No more size limit, many engines to pick from, and assets available for download. Yet it feels more held back in creativity.
We're going backwards in terms of creativity. Why should they limit themselves if they want to make something? Let the market decide if it's wanted not some corpo execs who are scared of offending twittards.
@@DefinitivelyZach Not only that, they also scared to experiment and play it safe. AAA always follow the same meta, anime games either gacha slop or arena fighter.
@@5_tokki this is true but anime games also get cancelled by western idiots for serving the “male gaze” as if straight males aren’t 85% of the real gamers. At least there’s a few breaths of fresh air this year with Wukong, Stellar Blade, First Descendant to name a few. I can’t even tell you the last time I bought an American AAA game though. And it’ll probably stay that way until GTA 6 cuz I’m gonna be on MH Wilds for like 2 years xD
I appreciate when people are open about their propaganda so I can ignore it. 'It is not for me' and 'I am not the target audience' are my favorite things to know about beforehand.
Congrats for telling the truth many are afraid to speak. Games (and not only games but anime, manga, any form of entertainment) are exactly that: ways to have fun and escape from real life. I don't play a game wanting to learn a lesson for my life, but to immerse myself into a story. When people start putting real life matters into entertainment, that's when you stop having fun.

Disagree? Art can be an allegory for real life politics. It can be what inspires change to the real world. It's just weird for people to react so negatively these things when it can so easily be ignored. But to the ones with some media literacy, it can be inspiring to see it play out
It is being ignored, nobody is buying it, because people generally don't want it in their video games. If the creators are interested more in propaganda than making a good product that people actually want, then they shouldn't complain when they lose their jobs.

@@saedo9723 uhh no? Nobody is buying it, that's why games like Concord have shut down instantly, why games like Suicide Squad and now Star Wars Outlaws are failures. I'm not sure what planet you are living in, but nobody is buying it. Saying they are buying it has no meaning in this conversation.

Suicide Squad cause execs basically tricked devs into making a live service game, when their bread and butter was single player.
Star Wars Outlaws is generally a decent game. And some just like to dunk on Star Wars nowadays. But there is a baffling decision not to release it through Steam.
Take BG3 then, the most woke shit ever. It broke through and no amount of hate on it from the grifters was able to take that down. So it can be done.
It's not like Western culture is Lacking in Legends.
Off the top of my head if someone did a Game revolving around the legends of King Arthur of Britan they would be spoiled for choice. From when he was a boy growing up to the moment he pulled the sword and beyond into his Kingship. Meeting his Knights, the round table and his relationship with his Sister Morgaine leading to Mordred, all could be made and be as thrilling as Wukong.
Play games to escape, have fun and maybe learn something about our rich human history. Above all though, don't make a game just to turn a profit.
They should make games to turn a profit, because if they are turning a profit it means gamers are actually buying it and interested in it. The issue is they are making games marketed for literally nobody with the sole purpose of virtue signaling.
Honestly, the fact that Japan has made more memorable games and or fictional literature about King Arthur is kinda sad. Like, what the hell is the west doing?
