- Rapper DMX has died at the age of 50.
The rap artist - real name Earl Simmons - died after going into cardiac arrest earlier this month and being admitted to White Plains Hospital, north of New York City.
The rapper's family confirmed his passing in a statement to People: "We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days."
The statement continued: "Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him.

This is what it looks like for God to use a willing vessel. Many would discredit this message because of Earl’s known struggles but that’s why I treasure this timely word even more than I would from any well established pastor or religious figure. It was heartfelt, no gimmicks or underlying motives. Thank you, Lord for looking at the heart and beyond what our humans eyes can see. Earl led what some would call the “unchurchables” to Christ and for that I rejoice and I know God said “well done thy good and faithful servant.” This was such a testament to “better is the end of a thing than the beginning.”

I remember watching this live and had a feeling that he had learned some bad news about his health. What he said after 9:55 seized me because I did listen to his albums' prayers they were a staple for me as a fan. The day he went live with this he did announce it and asked his people to tune in for a special message. The world woke up to the news of his hospitalization on 4/3/21, one day before Easter Sunday, and passed away 7 days later. Now they say you live to die but I have a feeling DMX will live on thru his music and his spirit. Every time his music and his voice are heard he is resurrected in the name of Jesus.
