Glad to come across something like this. Haven't tried it out yet, but hoping it will help. Basically if I stream on Twitch, the chat is natively supported in obs studio. But for Facebook, to stream I have to go into a browser and set up the live video and connect to obs, then after that I can't see the chat unless I keep switching between obs and the browser. Which means I have to shrink the two app windows side by side so I can run obs but see the chat feed.
Hoepfully with this, I can just not worry about the browser and stick with obs

OMG! THANK YOU & STEVE for this!! I have spent 3 weeks trying different programs and features for my Lives to capture singe comments during my Live's on Facebook and nothing was working properly. They would either crash, not show up, or only offer a chat feed to see. I stream mostly on Facebook but hopefully will be simultaneously streaming to UA-cam as well. One thing I did notice and don't know how to fix is the commenters profile pictures/avatars showing up on the single comments. I'll have to dig around on Steve's site and see if I can find it. But THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

@@kylehinderer81 Hey Kyle glad you like the tool. If you look at the top menu there is a button that says Auto.. if you click to it messages will automatically appear on screen as they come in. Hope this helps

After 5 hour of research and trial and error I managed to put the FB live chat, using only one monitor , and inside the game I'm playing, in the step where you pin the chat ,into OBS, you need to keep that window outside OBS and put it in the part you like the most in your monitor, and after that ,you need to download a program named, see through windows, using that one , you can move the chat and resize it , and see the comments while playing your games. Thanks for the tutorial, and thanks for trying to help. Maybe you can make another tutorial explaining this. Because I'm not a UA-camr, and also ,I'm not good at explaining things.

You want the chat to be full screen ?

Not the entire chat, but only the selected message.
When doing live production, you want to fill the whole screen with a message(preferably on a customisable background. That way we can choose from solid color to watermark picture or production logos)
This means you can cut to the chat alternatively. This also gives the presenter a chance to be off screen, squint, get out character, reboot, even sip on something while the show goes on....
@@rowliv it’s possible just use the single message overlay, add to a scene with a background of your choice and send it to any screen you want. It is transparent so anything is possible
hello! first able, thanks a lot for sharing this! Second, I have two issues, when the message is large, the font in the overlay appears very small. Is there a way to configure it so the font size is the same, no matter how long the message is? And...avatar picture appears very pixelated for me...I see in your screenshots they look very nice. I wish to know if I can do something to solve it. I'm using facebook gaming. If I can solve this...this will be PERFECT. I thank you in advance for your response :)
Thanks for the comment. Are using the latest update? Also when you resize try to keep the width at 1920 regardless of the height you use. Usually that helps in cases of longer messages. Avoid changing the aspect ratio when resizing

Do you have to have the browser window open in order for it to show on the source window in obs? What I mean is that you went to the dashboard in google groom, click on a comment for it to appear on obs dock dashboard. Do I have to bring up the google dashboard each time in order for it to appear on my obs dock dashboard?
As long as the browser is open you can even minimize it in background comments will still show up. Give it a try you will see

Thank you. I use Godox SL 60 W as my main light, in the background behind my monitor I have a IVISII G2 pocket RGB light and I simply downloaded a color full picture on my computer monitor that I have in full screen.
Check out this video I break down my lighting. The only thing I changed is the key light now I use the Godox.

hi great video and explanation. May I ask another topic if u have idea or any link video, that discuss - can we invite someone as guest to our obs from google meet/webex/others video conferencing, to stream on facebook? As far I know, the way to do this is just cropping window/display capture, but this way can't fix camera of guests. Hope you reach this out, thank you bro
Thanks for watching. Yes the only way to do it is by using the screen capture however there is another tool called VDO ninja that you can use to bring in guests. That requires you not to use Zoom

this is awesome, i have been looking for a long time for this, i only have one issue and it might be a simple fix, the problem is, every comment that pops up actually pops up twice, if i can fix this so they only come up once i will be a very happy chappy... any advice will be very much welcomed... cheers
That has happened to me before make sure you use the latest version and have only the video playback in the background don’t have the other chat link open as well, only the chat you see through OBS try that it should fix
@@LiveProductionTips I did what you said mate and what i have discovered (at least in my case is) that if i do as you did in the video it will just pop up the once (PERFECT) if i click the auto button so comments pop up automatically, it still puts them up twice, so i will just go with what you suggested and click on the comments you want to pop up, then it is kind of a filter so those comments you dont want wont pop up, You Sir are a legend.... thank you mate!!!

Well thanks for the video but mine doesn't auto pop chats even if I keep it on auto. I have to keep clicking all chats to show up on the display/screen capture screen. Not sure if I am doing something wrong.
Make sure you have the lasted version usually it works. If not get in touch with Steve on discord he will fix it for you

Hello, I'm using this for streamlabs and it works perfectly fine with youtube. For some reason though, it doesn't work with facebook. I can't make the comments appear on social stream dashboard. I have already enlarged the video.

is there any way to not to keep open the browser in background and have live chat in obs at the same time like twitch? keeping browser open in background with live streaming running takes a lot of ram and impact game performance. let me know if there is any thank you. i just want to read the chat in obs like twitch.
Hey Fahim, Unfortunately you need to have the browser open for the tool to be able to grab the messages. You can set the video on the lowest quality maybe that would help. As for reading the chat in OBS that’s possible by creating the Dock which I believe was covered in the video.

Hey Vincent, thanks for the comment. If you disable the chat tools it should clear all of the messages. Even when I shut down OBS and the browser it resets everything.
For the day something box it may not be working on all platforms I will take a look at it .

If you have it set up in OBS it’s already set. So comments will just show up after you go live. No need to repeat the steps
They I am too late to know about this wonderful tool but It is not working now. the look is totally different and after installlation it shows an error. Where can I share the details. Any new guide to this if any new updates has released and I missed out the new procedure to install sucessfully?

Works with twitch, Facebook and UA-cam. I am not sure about Zoom. You can send comments if you want from OBS to zoom though using NDI or OBS virtual camera.

Is this compatible if someone streams from streamyard onto the FB platform?
It may not work in StreamYard since SY doesn’t support web sources.
However I know Evmux supports Web sources so that’s an option

It's really hard to look over to a separate monitor to see comments. I wish there was a way to have it overlayed over my active monitor like you can do with twitch. This doesn't help me.

I’m currently in the process of setting up a streaming system for my girl when she goes live in Facebook and this is perfect since she didn’t take notice to people leaving comments on her last stream. I got it to work but when I have the plug-in set to auto in OBS to automatically load the newest comment it loads then about 5 seconds later it loaded it again I’ve tried restarting everything and it keeps loading the comments twice

Hello, usually UA-cam runs their own ads if you are monetized but if you want to run your own ads, you can use most streaming software including OBS, you will need prerecorded video ads that you would play back during your live streams

so sad, the extension has an error now, need to contact the one who created it. It says "manifest version 2 is deprecated, and support will be removed in 2023.

Unless you tried and it didn’t work. It’s supposed to work on both Facebook pages and personal profiles including groups as long you enlarge the video. You are not logged in with the extension it is just pulling the chat from the video that’s being played.

You can set it up in the under : Featured chat Overlay === Mechanics === Hide overlay after 20s ( You get 20 seconds)

Yes it does work on UA-cam as well. You can even do both Facebook and UA-cam at the same time. For UA-cam you need to pop out the chat window for it to work
So In order for this to work, both Facebook and UA-cam page have to be running in the background?
@@mikecarter5515 if you need to pull comments from both YT and FB yes make sure they are running in background. Even when minimized will still work. For YT you need to pop out the chat.

I don’t understand because if you can see the comments and are able to bring the comments into OBS you should be able to easily overlay them on your game. I am sure there is something you maybe skipping

I noticed that on my extension for ninja the 2nd link doesn’t appear to show as yours, it shows ‘featured chat overlay’’ and it not in green mode even though I enable the extension. Any idea why? By the way thank you for your content., it really helpful. It will be great if I make work, thanks ❤

Yes, I followed all the steps mentioned in the video, I downloaded the folder, loaded that in dev mode in browser, when I'm triggering a fake message from the extension itself, it's working, but when I'm commenting on my YT channel live stream or Twitch live stream, I'm not able to see any messages on the window@@LiveProductionTips
@@puerileplays ok I see for UA-cam and Twitch you have to Pop out the chat window. It’s a little different.
