Jaguars are not aggresive to humans unless surprised or they have cubs around. Jaguars specifically target their prey with a devastating bite to the neck or skull and as such they are psychologically adapted to hunt "horizontal" animals. I.e. quadrepedes like deer, cows, caiman etc. They are not interested in "vertical" things like humans.
As a Brazilian there are a few nice things too like did you know rheas kidnap the children of others rheas just so they can raise them? We also have Spizaetus tyrannus which despite the name is actually adorable.

The first buffed lemur impersonator, the moose with the bee stung nose, and the first rabbit. All the rest, yes even the amazing silkie I had seen before at least once in various shows. That said, thank you for every video you make. I love them. Such a wonderfully different way of presenting these amazing animals.
I have heard of the tapir, the rabbit-copying Straya mouse, the salamander copy (I live n the balkans) ,& the poo-coffee creature.I can't remember if I saw the others elsewhere...

I fell in love with your verbosity to insert such chucklesome phrases into your descriptions of the animals. Overjoyed that the English language still lives.
@cookdislander4372 - don’t ever feel “dumb” beloved!! Life is so beautiful and there is so much to learn. I’ve been considered highly “verbose” since elementary school because I too just have a love and fascination for words and diction. I was also diagnosed with a rare genetic illness around the age of 10 and that led me to read medical dictionaries out of curiosity of my situation and to further comprehend what was happening to my body since my pediatricians oft felt I was “too young” to understand so that’s where my interest comes from primarily and after that I genuinely fell in love with descriptive verbiage and etymology. But I completely SUCK at math despite being an RN lol. I don’t think that makes me dumb, so don’t ever say that about yourself!!! There are so many beautiful, unexplored facets of life and such a huge plethora of subjects to study including all the animals I never knew about prior to this incredible channel. We’re only ever ignorant when we willfully choose not to learn. Much love to you darling and happy learning!!! ☺️✨
I’m so proud, I want to be a zoologist/marine veterinarian(or just wild animal veterinarian) and so I am always trying to learn about new animals. 1:34 Bear cuscus (did not know this one, though the name 'cuscus' did sound vaguely familiar) 3:16 Takin (AH! I knew this one! Seen it on a few of those Animal Planet ZOO shows) 4:24 Tapir (definitely knew this one) 5:35 Viscacha (the name didn't ring a bell instantly but also recognized this one, also from Animal Planet) 6:24 Silky anteater (I recognized it instantly!) 7:23 Club-winged manakin (had no idea about this one... though the dancing ones on the branches were featured in some Animal Planet documentaries and adverts) 8:26 Bilby (This one I knew!) 9:36 Olm (everyone who stuck around with Amphibia all the way through should know these) 10:47 Brown hyena (first time I've heard about these was in the documentary series "The Velvet Claw" from the early 90's) 11:52 Civet (same as with the brown hyena, I knew about this one for years :P) 13:34 Tree kangaroo (people don't know about these?! How?!) So I got 9 out of 11 right. I definitely qualify as an Animal Planet veteran here :P Heck, I watched AP back when they played "Kratt's Creatures" on it back in the 90's! Does anyone remember Ttark from that show?

I'm so glad that you mentioned the bilby and the tree kangaroo - and not just because they were the only animals I knew. Australia has a lot of unique and adorable animals that many people don't know about like the quoll, numbat, dugong, bettong, and more and I hope you mention them in the future!
Lmao that looked like you just started making up names halfway through 😂 What a perfect list for your point... I'd never heard of most or all of them you mentioned, unless i know them by sight but not name. Australia is one of the places in the world that feel sort of like the deep ocean in that it seems like there's always something more to explore, and always the chance of new or hardly known creatures who have lived in that space for ages yet humans still don't know
Man, I didn't expect to get stumped as an Animal Planet maniac in my younger days. But the manakin, the bear cuscus and the silky anteater all got me! Well done 😂

You are the next generation David Attenborough, phenomenal content, kids don’t need to buy the books no more when peeps like you give such engaging and factual resources as this, never change, thank you dude
Ok maybe they still need books but the fact that you make this content so digestible and relatable gives many the chance to learn without the financial burden of purchasing an Encyclopedia. That’s what I meant to say, again, thank you man
Way to make this animal video politically partisan. Also, they aren't banning books outright, and you advocate for "book banning" too. I guarantee there are books out there you don't want kids to have access to, which makes you a hypocrite. Have a great day.@@MileyCyrusPartyUSA

I didn't know the olm was real, I unironically thought the images of it I saw was some kind of sci-fi CGI project and paid it no heed. I also thought the Silky Anteater was some kind of Caterpillar, since the only pic I ever saw of them was that first image shown in the video. the Tapir was the only one I fully knew about. Like, I've seen *pictures* of every animal on this list, but I didn't know a bloody thing about any of them except the Tapir.
Belizean here. Yes i have seen a wild tapir, and visited the ones at the zoo. Our whole nation mourned when "April" our favorite animal "brand ambassador" friend passed away a few years ago. Love your channel, btw. My whole family often watches you together. ❤ 🇧🇿
Fun fact about the club-winged manakin: the males have solid ulnas (bone in the wing) instead of hollow bones like most other birds. This helps them to make that sound but is very likely to be a disadvantage to their flying abilitys
I am of little shame to admit half of these animals have been known to me either because of Zefrank (Tapir), research about video games (Bilby, cause Crash Bandicoot), or my crippling addiction to animal documentaries that have drained me too much money to stop now (like the Olm and Brown Hyena). Thank you of this video regardless, because you are one of the few UA-camrs who cover these animals without reducing them to bullet points.
I was excited to see my beloved silky anteater getting a spotlight on the list! … I definitely failed the test on the first one. But hey, I knew one! lol
You underestimated how obsessed I was with animals as a child. I'm ngl I only found out about silky anteaters a few weeks ago when my friend shared a post with me
The cuscus and silky anteater were the only two on this I have never seen or heard of. I adore brown hyena’s and the sound of the manakin will never leave my memory. I also love the mention of the civets!! Civets deserve some more love, they are so cute!!
For me it was the cuscus and the Michael Jackson bird (I don’t remember the name). I’ve heard of all the rest and have seen Takin at a zoo near where I live. They’re pretty awesome animals. I first learned about Civets from the movie Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. And yes, for the same reason mentioned in this video 😆
Thanks for the bonus animal! Those tree kangaroos are beautiful. And the zoo I grew up with had both tapirs and civets. I always thought the tapirs seemed bored. They looked intelligent and curious, and I once got one to stand up on its hind legs to get close to me when I was leading a group of kids on a visit. I'm tall, and I leaned way down into its enclosure. It came over, stood up, and reached very close to my outstretched hand with that almost trunk-like nose. Then it sat back down and studied us while we started to walk on, before getting up and following us as we walked, putting its face as close to us as it could. The kids stopped and talked to it, and it seemed to listen to each of them, turning its head to and fro. That was a cool moment.
we had tapirs and civets too and I was allowed to hug a tapir as a child which probably wasn't very safe but i was unharmed and the tapir wasn't really unhappy
@@weloniko Cool! I picked up a baby beaver in a pen at the Minnesota State Fair when I was a kid. It was on display at the Department of Natural Resources building, and right next to the enclosure fence. I was about ten years old, and my friend dared me, jokingly. He did not expect me to do it (his subsequent expression told me that), but I had already been thinking about it, so the dare was like permission. There was a crowd all around the area, and we had squeezed our way to the front to see what was happening. So, when I reached in to pick it up, the crowd made a noise like, 'Oh, man, I'm not sure you should do that...' Not with words, but with a sort of collective questioning/doubtful sound. I didn't hesitate, and just picked it up. I figured it had to have been found as an orphan, and was used to human contact, so I wasn't surprised that it didn't mind being picked up. In fact, it snuggled right up to me, and the crowd made another sound, like, 'Awww, that's sweet.' But, almost immediately, a ranger, in his uniform with the Smokey Bear hat, appeared, with his arms crossed and a frown. His expression didn't change as I put the beaver down, nor as we started moving away. But he never said anything, so I like to think he didn't blame me. That little critter was so cute!
I have been obsessed with animals ever since I was a baby. My mom and grandma always brought home books on animals, and I even had the whole collection of those Wildlife Fact-Files that were collectible and placed in binders, and the Wildlife Treasury animal cards. There were lots and lots of animals in there that my schools never taught us even existed. I was lucky to have been encouraged to explore learning about nature and wildlife as a kid, not every child gets that from their parents or guardians. I think your list was very thoughtful. All very unique and not well heard about animals. I was stumped on 2. The Takin really threw me off, I thought it was some species of cow, like a Yak or something of that sort. The other I was disappointed in myself for not knowing what it was... the Vizcacha. It threw big chinchilla vibes, but I had no idea of its name. Oh, and I nearly called the Cuscus a Kinkajou but knew that wasn't right. Took me a few extra seconds to dig the right name from my cluttered mind. This was a really fun video for me. So many of these types of videos out there that are just not challenging enough. Well done, Sir, well done. 👏
I looked at the Latin name for cuscus, but it said ailurops bear. Then I changed it to “alurops ursi” (ursa is bear in Latin and ailurops bear translates to ailurops ursi), and it said bear’s claws. It then translated again to ungues ursi. Idk. That’s Latin for you.

Club-winged manakin is what got me. It's the only one of these I didn't know. I don't really think of tapir, olms, brown hyenas, civets, or tree kangaroos as obscure, but I admit that I'm an oddball who has actively read animal encyclopedias because I just find the variation in life fascinating. I really love how you go into all of this, an I always learn things; even the ones I'd heard of here I didn't know many details you brought up!

You got me on five; the Bear Cus Cus (I thought it was a Potto at first), Viscacha, Silky Anteater, Club-winged Manakeet, and brown Hyena. Funnily enough I've seen Takins, Tapirs and Civets in local zoos growing up so I thought they were relatively well-known 😂 This was an incredible list, and I'm grateful to have learned about five "new" animals!
I’ve personally worked with three tapirs, two of them were very chill and only bothered us when they wanted a scratch/ petting, the third and youngest one very nearly cost one of my group his hand and ended up compromising by the tapir taking his ring finger and his pinky finger
Yup...yup, got me with the first critter. "Bare Cuscus" or whatever? I'm all done right there! I thought I'd get half of them at least but nooope! I'm dead right outta the gate.
I knew a good number of them, but the Bear Cuscus and Club-winged Manakin took me by surprise. Tapirs and Civets are some of my favorite animals, very underappreciated mammals.

Hey ima need an update on that story bro ❤
About to say the same thing, everything was news to me until we got to tapir.
@@kellyalves756 i mean, he talks about tapirs enough that everyone who watches probably knows them. granted i'm a nerd and knew all of them except the vicacha.
Same, I also knew the brown hyena as I was lookin' at sum family members of the brown hyena once.
Have come across cuscus, tapirs, and civets but not in person and don't remember even hearing about any of the rest
I am a major animal nut and watch tons of animal documentaries and such but you actually got me on 3 of these.
As a Chilean: Thank you so much for bringing attention to the Vizcacha. There are several unique animals in Chile, given how isolated it is from the rest of the continent, but the Vizcacha, along with the Güiña cat, are some of my favorites.
As a Chilean: I was about to coment the same thing thanks

7:22 - Club-winged manakin
8:19 - Bilby
9:35 - Olm
10:45 - Brown hyena
11:51 - Civet

1:34 Bear cuscus (I had NOT heard of this one. I thought it was some kind of loris)
3:16 Takin (thought it was a tahr - I was kind of close?)
4:24 Tapir (I thought everyone knew about tapirs. I love them so much esp. the babies)
5:35 Viscacha (I didn't know about these ones!)
6:24 Silky anteater (I have heard of this one)
7:23 Club-winged manakin (I have not heard of this one)

11:52 Civet (I love civets! And genets. Have known about them since middle school)
13:34 Tree kangaroo (I did know about tree kangaroos. Love their colors!)
So I got 7/11. I feel like you brought out the big guns at the beginning though. I feel like it'd have made more sense for them to get gradually more obscure to be like a real challenge gauntlet.
Fun fact the only reason why the olm is familiar to me is becuz I watched amphibia

I fell in love with your verbosity to insert such chucklesome phrases into your descriptions of the animals. Overjoyed that the English language still lives.
Verbosity lol. I feel dumb when I read UA-cam comments I've never heard that word before and am heading to Google 😂
The video did get me as I didn’t know two of the animals on here! The cuscus and the tree kangaroo were the only ones I didn’t get but it was still great learning facts about the others, love this channel, keep up the excellent work!
He made the silky anteater my favorite animal
1:34 Bear cuscus (did not know this one, though the name 'cuscus' did sound vaguely familiar)
3:16 Takin (AH! I knew this one! Seen it on a few of those Animal Planet ZOO shows)
4:24 Tapir (definitely knew this one)
5:35 Viscacha (the name didn't ring a bell instantly but also recognized this one, also from Animal Planet)
6:24 Silky anteater (I recognized it instantly!)
7:23 Club-winged manakin (had no idea about this one... though the dancing ones on the branches were featured in some Animal Planet documentaries and adverts)
8:26 Bilby (This one I knew!)
9:36 Olm (everyone who stuck around with Amphibia all the way through should know these)
10:47 Brown hyena (first time I've heard about these was in the documentary series "The Velvet Claw" from the early 90's)
11:52 Civet (same as with the brown hyena, I knew about this one for years :P)
13:34 Tree kangaroo (people don't know about these?! How?!)
So I got 9 out of 11 right. I definitely qualify as an Animal Planet veteran here :P Heck, I watched AP back when they played "Kratt's Creatures" on it back in the 90's! Does anyone remember Ttark from that show?

Ok maybe they still need books but the fact that you make this content so digestible and relatable gives many the chance to learn without the financial burden of purchasing an Encyclopedia. That’s what I meant to say, again, thank you man
Well books are being banned in Florida and Texas and other red states so thank goodness that kids have access to these videos at least.
Way to make this animal video politically partisan. Also, they aren't banning books outright, and you advocate for "book banning" too. I guarantee there are books out there you don't want kids to have access to, which makes you a hypocrite. Have a great day.@@MileyCyrusPartyUSA

Fun fact about the club-winged manakin: the males have solid ulnas (bone in the wing) instead of hollow bones like most other birds. This helps them to make that sound but is very likely to be a disadvantage to their flying abilitys
Makes me wonder if the club wing from the name is literal, though. Reminds me of how swans have a bony spur on their wings they can whack you with.

Love this. As a long time nature video veteran, I was really surprise to only know about 4 of these. Respect for the Ferrari shirt too!

Cool!
“That was a wild sentence.” 😂Please, brother, do not ever stop making videos!
