We all know that Christopher Columbus discovered today's America or as he called it the "New World", however, only a few know that a place that has played a major role in his journey are the Canary Islands, this place was his last port when leaving for America. But besides for Christopher Colombo, the Canary Islands were very important for other travelers who sometimes took their own dogs with them and then bred them with the native dogs. From this kind of adventure was created the dog known today as Presa Canario. The physical characteristics of this dog are the height of up to 26 inches and weight up to 140 pounds, on the other hand, their personality is built on dominance, strength and independence. The bite force of this dog reaches 540 psi and it is thought that he can pull more than 1 thousand pounds. So, they possess real potential to do harm as they are one of the strongest breeds in the world. However, there are some other breeds that turn out to be stronger.

I think I would put dogo argentino and cane corso as equal to the presa but not stronger. caucasian ovcharka is probably little bit stronger than presa I don't know about Alabai and kangal but they are very strong at least equal to presa and tosa would probably have an edge over presa, and boerboel might as well. I think fila and Bully kutta would equal or even surpass presa and should have been mentioned. also Turkish mastiff and Persian mastiff should be mentioned as well. English mastiff has the strength and the size but does he have the aggression and stamina to be honest I simply don't know.

However while its bite is extremely strong even stronger than that of a presa. presa is more aggressive and has higher pray drive. both are very brave and very confident. all and all its very hard for me to say which will win in a fight. that is why I'm putting them at about same level. but I don't disagree that some of the things favor Cane Corso in this fight. but if Cane Corso and even English mastiff was mentioned. so should be fila, Bully kutta and few others. now all of those dogs have somewhat of an edge over presa. but there is probably no modern breed of dog that will have easy time facing presa. there were dogs that would probably have significant edge over presa but they don't exist anymore.

I once saw a Pressa attack a Kangal. The Pressa was on it's back with the Kangal gripping his throat in one second flat. Kangal's are the king of dogs.

No way Kangal is seen as the strongest breed. Alabai, Caucasian Shepherd and Malakli are example of races that are definately stronger than a Kangal.

Although I like the dogo Argentino, I wouldn't agree it's stronger. I would say it works put up a good fight or be on par. I think if it were between a Presa and Corso, like boxing, I think the Presa world fight offensively while any hit the Corso gets in world be devastating.
I disagree and think the dogo would be a much bigger challenge for the presa than a corso.

A lazy corso with no training would hold his own against a presa or trained dogo but not beat them because they got a mind of their own. A willing corso will desmolish a dogo argentino giving him the biggest scars and bone crushing of his life. Correct type corso are the few dogs that can submit a dogo argentino. By breaking bones of their face.

Bandogs' bite force is not as strong as this. Look at the dog's head. The bigger the head, th larger the jaw muscles. No way that little dog has a bite force close to a Kangal. I think the Caucasian Shepherd is less as well but the Boerboel is very underrated. It has a severely large head and I have seen one that was 228lbs and could pull almost anything (it seemed, but in reality no). When the dog brushed against me , it reminded me of playing football against much bigger players. All dogs are good..just depends on how you train/use them.
Hyenas don't have very large heads yet they have one of the strongest bite forces in the animal kingdom. A crocodile which has the highest bite force has a tiny head in comparison to its frame. Head size doesn't dictate bite force just as size doesn't dictate strength. The bite power of a Bandogg or Kangal has to be witnessed to be believed. I have seen both first hand. Also I'd like to give an honorable mention to the Tibetan Mastiff and the Bully Kutta. Two absolute beasts.

I think so too. I have been a die hard pit bull man (we just call them "bulldogs"... gamebred pitbulls) all my life . I'm 50 yrs old been around pit bulls since I was 5 yrs old. I have a female Pit/Corso now ( best dog I ever had) with me 24/7. But I think as far as "BIG DOGS" go the BULLY KUTTA I believe is the roughest toughest of all the big dogs. If I lived in Alaska in a remote cabin my dog of choice would be a female Bully Kutta. Out there size would matter to me and I would want the toughest dog. Bully Kutta would be my choice
The Cane corso should not be in this list. Tiny dogs .the dog the bordeaux are mostly Nice big dogs. You should look at the agression level what a dog could reach. What about the bully kutta or Sarabi much more dog breeds can compare with canary dog.and hoe can a small dog like the Corso have more bite force than a Boerboele. Most cane wil be max 60 kilo while a boerboel can wheight 80 or 90 kilo.I think many Canario dogs would shred many dog breeds .it goes to temperament , drive and mass.

I'm probably bias but I'd put my 176lbs Presa or my 145 lbs Akita against any of these breeds. Mike Tyson & Bruce Lee weren't the biggest or strongest but not many getting in the ring with them. RIP to both my dogs

Wrong.....the Bandogg is a mix of Pitbull or bulldog and Mastiff not just Bulldog. Only one dog has higher bite force than a Bandogg and thts a Kangal. Bite force isn't everything but when you pair it with the size , strength , aggression, and pain tolerance , the Bandogg will be a serious problem for the Presa or Corso. I wanted a Tibetan Mastiff but got a APBT x Corso mix and I haven't found a bone or dog toy she cant destroy. I have even tried bike tires, wheel barrel tires and construction helmets. 😂

I've stop watching in Dogue de Bordeaux. Yhis is ridiculously inaccurate. He is judging just by bite force, forgetting about personality, aggressivity and the fact that the Presa is raised for FIGHT. Only thr Caucasian, Kangal and Alabai here can match a Presa Canario.

Presa's are beasts (before pitbull fans comment, my mechanic has 2 pitbulls and a presa here in the UK (imports) and 1 of his pitbulls tried it with his presa over food I think it was, unfortunately the presa tore it's head open badly very fast, cost him a lot in vets bills, thankfully he recovered though. (not promoting fighting it was randomly over food once, but the pitbull got beat up real fast)

I would like very much to cross breed a Presa and a Boxer.
I would also like to cross a Caucasian Shepherd with a Keeshond - like the aforementioned crossbreeding idea, it would not change the look of the dog much nor the personality but it would make it more manageable for me to train.

While we are on mastiffs, I'd take a German Mastiff, AKA the misnomer Great Dane, X Boxer = Taller Boxer ( for a better nose for Boxer, a taller appearance, beefier bark, better heart & blood flow for "Dane")
Then take Bigger Better Boxer X Taller Boxer = Big and Tall Boxer (
for a quick, large catch dog that can escalate as necessary, but still, not be a liability, and be sociable).
