- Unboxing and setting up my new friend Alexa, the Amazon Echo. Short review and impressions.
I brought extra Belkin Wemo light switches from eBay for only $15. They are not available anymore.

*I bought this as my second **Newest.Technology** device for my living room. I LOVE having them around my house. Especially with the smart plugs! During Christmas it has been so great to tell Alexa when to turn the Christmas lights on and off.*

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

I'm having a terrible time setting up my Amazon Echo. The app keeps freezing up. Mine did not come with a remote. Where can I pick up light switches to use with Alexa?

Mine says " you've connected to echo, go ahead and finish the settings in alexa app " and the alexa app keeps buffering, it doesn't send me to a settings window, just buffering lol. Tried it 100 times.
As a person with a poor memory. What is the best option? Google Amazon or something else?
I hope I dont sound stupid here, but do you have to have a phone to be able to set this up or can you use your home computer as well????

Mine keeps saying internet not available. And that wifi is not setup even after it says you are connected.

From what I understand, you can choose your preferred music playback service. Either Prime or Spotify in the App.

can somebody simply tell what this echo does. does it broacast music form mobile, computer or music system like a radio, cd player etc. such simple information is not available.

That's apt to make her mad. Women do NOT like being called by the wrong name.
What does it do if you just flat out buy the thing and don't make any other subscriptions or purchases? Can it play music from your phone? Can it tell jokes?...I just want it for the entertainment, not the light switches, weather and stuff like that. But I am kind of a donkey around things like these so someone please use some simple language so I can understand what can I do with plain amazon echo.
I'm the same. My wife bought me one for my birthday 14 months ago and I still haven't used it. I can switch my own lights on, and I'm not going to buy new light switches to save me the trouble! Switching them on is complicated enough without changing the switches! But I'd like to get it playing music and stuff, if only to get her off my back.
