My favorite bunnies are the twins! Somehow they look a tad naughty as if they would be in the middle of things. And the one in the blanket is a tad confusing: where is his ears?? Are they folded back behind his head? But it is confusing as the others all have ears and then he doesnt have any so it makes me wonder if he could be a different type of critter visiting his rabbit pals (if that makes sense).
Awee thank you!! They do look a bit ornery. 😂💛 The blanketed bunny is meant to have his ears stretched behind him as his head is thrown back in a yawn. 😊
I loved this video, which I found randomly when I was trying to psych myself up to even thinking about illustrating my book. It ended up making me tear up. You did such a beautiful job! I am so fearful of messing up and not being "good enough," but your delightful dialogue and cozy scene, and the sweet memory with it, has really inspired me. Thanks! : )
Thank you for a great video. Even though the film was sped-up I was able to follow your process and I learned quite a bit just from watching and the close-ups were very helpful. I've subscribed.
Ok I know that I say this every time, but I truly think this one is your best painting yet!! Those bunnies are just too cute; I can’t pick a favorite 🥺 also, I learned so much from this video!! I had no idea you could do the from greyscale to color technique with watercolor! I thought that it was just a digital and oil paint thing 😂 also when you talked about simplifying things and making sure you don’t distract the background details from the main focal point, I had never really considered that! You made so many good points.
Oh my goodness THANK YOU!! You are too sweet. 🥰 I’m so glad you enjoyed my illustration and that the video was helpful for you! The greyscale method has been LIFE CHANGING for me 😂
Wow, I’m astounded by how talented you are! I came here to look for some tips for illustrating a children’s book I’m writing. Do you profile a service for this kind of thing? I’d definitely be interested 🥰
Awww thank you so, so much! I wish I had some helpful tips on illustrating children's books, but I've only illustrated one. 😅 School of Visual Storytelling here on UA-cam has a GOLD MINE of information on book illustration though!
This was such a cute illustration! You always put so much work into it, and it really shows! I love it very much, and I really admire your talent! I tried out Watercolor the other day... It didn't go too well. Heh, but I did my best I think. Another great job! Very nice! =)
You said you used a lightbox to transfer the image to the final surface. Isn't watercolor paper too thick to use with a lightbox? What paper did you use for the final image?
I use Arches watercolor paper! The lightbox I use has a few different brightness settings, so I use the strongest setting when transferring to watercolor paper. 😊
That's a great question!! I don't think there's really one type that's better than the other; it's more up to the personal preference of the artist. I do have a video in my Beginner's Guide to Gouache playlist that goes more in depth on the different kinds of watercolor paper and what they're good for!
Thank you for bringing the joy & awe of illustration to light!! ❤

Is hot press or cold press better for watercolor children's book illustrations?
