Freezing cold, grey and damp, blowing a gale, and everything closed. Yes,you certainly did replicate the authentic British seaside experience! For a similar seaside attraction experience you might try Barry Island next time you're here(in UK). Never heard of tuna as the "fish" but probably was tasty. Those chips didn't look right though. They looked processed not just normal bits of cut potato. And the beach - grey, muddy and unnalluring, could have been Weston super mare! Much better behaved seagulls, the ones in UK,as you probably know are,or can be bold, aggressive muggers. I really enjoyed this film. Im joking (a bit) with my comments. That hotel looked very nice. I've seen a few of your films and you both definitely have a psychogeographic link to UK. Maybe you could rent a house for a year and live here as a try out.
I'm an American married to a dual citizen 🇺🇸🇬🇧 and I agree with your comment about the Pac NW. that is why my husband's father settled in Oregon, because of the similarities! It did feel more like home. Also, I think some places on the beautiful Oregon coast remind me of Cornwall .❤ Great video! Cheers! Dara

If you ever visit the uk, head over to Tenby in south wales. Lovely seaside town in the summer time. Also barafundle bay has a really good 3 hour walk over the cliffs and the Lilly ponds on the coastal path going through secluded beaches. One of the nicest walks in wales, good to take your dog too!
Really enjoyed this visit which has made me interested in coming over to see for myself. I did visit Boston a few years back and really enjoyed it. Thank you for posting.

Blackpool, Lancashire is the best for amusement arcades has several big ones, and also 3 seaside piers with games and fake horse racing with live commentary. Love it.
If you're after a quirky little museum visit Bexhill museum. And whilst you're there, you can see iguanodon footprints embedded in the rocks on the beach right next to the main road (you can find them using geocaching). Also Brighton in the same area has loads of museums including the booth with some great taxidermy, police cells museum and toy museum. But if you're after somewhere uber cool to grab a drink, Zu Studios in the beautiful and historic town of Lewes also nearby is definitely the place to go. And whilst you're there you can visit Anne of Cleves House, the small castle (where I used to work) and the priory, though not sure how much they all cost as I got in free. And if your budget stretches to it, you could stay in a local lighthouse called Belle Tout near the famous Beachy Head and Seven Sisters, which are best viewed from Birling Gap. And if you love castles Bodiam is one of the best in the area. All these things are in the same vicinity not far from each other. And if you come here let me know and I'll tell you where you can drive right through the middle of a field of sheep.
UK person here. Watched your video earlier and the fish and chips looked so yum I’m sitting in my local chip shop waiting for scampi and chips with tartar sauce (pronounced like you do!) - excellent power of suggestion, thank you! 😊😊
I love your channel. I thought I'd share an interesting bit of history. I am from a town in the north east of England called Washington. It was built on a small village of the same name which is derived from the House of de Wessington (local nobles). The coat of arms of the de Wessigtons is the stars and stripes. George Washington was decended from these people and the US flag is derived from his coat of arms. As a child we'd mark July the 4th, several presidents have visited the village and lots of the places in the new town are named after american places and people. I was born on a street called Trenton Avenue, just off Valley Forge. My friends went to JFK primary school.
Thank you, Christopher! We saw Washington's family home last fall. Unfortunately it was closed the day we went, but we saw his family coat of arms at the cathedral in Durham.
I live near the coast here in South Wales about 14 miles to Porthcawl (Coney Beach) and about the same distance to the East is Barry Island. Both have large Fun Fairs that traditionally open for weekends from Easter. A month or two later they open every day & night. As a kid we would have annual outings with either the working men’s clubs or Sunday school. The Sunday School outing was usually the first Saturday in July and it was about 2 buses. The working men's clubs would travel in Red Double Decker buses, usually up to 10
Brilliant video. Great take on your own perspective on the UK ,to now. It's one of the best you've done. However, you are becoming Anglo Philes rapidly for sure. That was excellent. Xx
No,no, no! Blackpool is derelict in many places .It is the destination of chavs, wanting to 'pull' on drunken Stag/hen nights. The houses are falling down , and the streets are full of litter and filthy. We saw so many used needles in the Streets 🥹🤢🤮 The only benefit of the illuminations are that they disguise this squalor....
I'm from stoke on trent Staffordshire and I'm currently watching your vid at 23:10 on a sunday night keep up the good work 😅😅😊😊 mushy peas needed on the fish n chips👍🏾
I lived in the (midwest) US for a few years and absolutely loved it. There was something I missed about the UK, but I've never been quite able to articulate it. Love these videos!
Seeing the beach after the storm, makes me wonder if you’ve heard of mudlarking. There’s lots on UA-cam about it. I think you’d find it fascinating, especially those about the Thames. So many historic items are found by mudlarkers
Just stumbled across your channel and it makes me chuckle. As a Brit who spent some time living in NYC it always interesting the difference between the two nations with a common language. PS sitting in your car eating fish and chips at the seaside on a rainy day is a very British experience 😂
I've only recently discovered your channel. I'm really enjoying it. I lived in Portland in the 1990s and really like the Oregon coast - Astoria, Lincoln City and Newport, including the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Lots of good memories.
The Vintage Emporium in Stockport, Greater Manchester is a fun place to visit - I've never seen alligator people there, but lots of interesting things and a cute little cafe in the middle. The nearby Moviescape Escape Rooms are great fun too!
Also, for a seafront arcade experience - probably Scarborough. Maybe Blackpool too - that's somewhere you should probably go once... maybe just once! If you're going to Brighton, then there'll be a few things like that on the pier. And nearby Worthing is like a calmer Brighton, but they'll have amusements when it's the right season for it.
As a Brit, I come to your videos to enjoy your take on the UK. I have to say, though, it was really fun and interesting to see you in your natural habitat.
Wookey hole in Somerset. They have an old penny arcade. 😊 plus the caves are fun to walk around with the legend of the witch turned to stone by a a monk from Glastonbury. It’s also been used for a film location for Doctor Who.
Loved this Video. In 2017, i was working at Tesla in Fremont CA for 7 months. In July, i took my Holiday over there, and flew my partner over form the UK. We had a hire car, and traveled all the way up the West Coast to Vancouver Island in Canada. We had purchased a load of camping gear from WalMart, So, stopped at a lot of Camp sites enroute. On the way back, we stopped at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Astoria, where you could here the Seals from the Hotel room 🙂. The next day, we got to see what was called the great American Eclipse, and WOW , what a great experience. I must say, Oregon, is my favorite US State and my girlfriend agreed. We found the people so friendly and genuine. I all so love the wine region, so beautiful. You are blessed to live in such a wonderful state. And one last thing, we had some great fish and chips there with the Pacific Cod ;). Keep up the great work guys, love your channel. ❤❤
You guys need to hit Margate,Broadstairs and Ramsgate on The Isle of Thanet ..east Kent coast 1 hour on the fast train from London . You might just end up living there full time.
Ever since I was a young kid, all I ever wanted was to move and live in the US. I've been over a few times and it never disappoints but, alas, I never did live out that ambition. Love the place and the people.
When back in the UK and specifically Nottingham you got to try Tippoo on Alfreton Road Nottingham and The Cod’s Scallops chippy, if you want desserts try The Cake Solution, there’s 3 around Nottingham. Good old fashioned seaside towns got to be Skegness, Blackpool, Great Yarmouth, they’re the ones that are mainly visited by northerners and midlanders. Another idea is why not visit the Blue Plaque sites around England, there is one on Pelham Street Nottingham, not far from Pret, it sits under the window of an old newspaper where a young journalist used to sit and watch a street urchin beg every day, it gave him the inspiration for what is possibly his most famous work, the journalist and author JM Barrie and his book Peter Pan
You both have such bubbly joyous personalities,, ❤,,, so funny you looking for anything to remind you of the UK 😂 I have a beach on my doorstep (well 10min walk) and I like to find a patch of small shingle stones and look through them for the very tiny shells ,, so many ,, such pretty colours ,,, I’ve started making jewellery and was thinking on a sea side theme…
Speaking of all the movies filmed there, there is a place on the Isle of man that looks very similar, same style itf houses etc (actually it has a few different anerican style houses built in it) and it is actually used for filming movies and shows set in America, they are aet up complete with American plug sockets and light switches, American road signs outside even old American cars parked up to complete rhe atmosphere and illusion. I've seen it a good few tears ago and it looks really cool. Ive seen it in a few movies (cant name any off hand, but i do remember one had David Schwimer and Simon Pegg in it) its got a deck area with old boats scattered about the place. It reminded me very nuch of the Goonies filming location. Well worth visiting.if you can afford the ferry to the isle of man that is. When i went about 20 years ago it cost around £45 for a damily retuen ticket on the ferry. I think it's over £100 per person now. Its a Shame because i would d love to go back, but with my family it would cost nearly as muxh as it would to go abroad now.
That is crazy! I am from UK and yet I have been to Astoria and I have had fish and chips there! I stayed in Portland which I loved. I didn't go to Long Beach though I went to Seaside, Oregon. Any seaside town in UK will have amusement arcades. I normally go to Southsea. The Penny Falls are my favourite, they have loads of them. As for the museum, there are plenty of places like this. Near me in Hampshire there is Milestones living museum and also a village in the New Forest called Burley that is associated with witchcraft and all the little shops have quirky witchy things, I love it there LOL
Ahhh, this was my typical childhood holiday! Clouds, cold beaches with rocks, and fish and chips. 😂! I live in Australia now, and the beaches are way prettier, warmer, and cleaner. But, I miss home, and always will. Wow, I honestly thought you were in England 😂
Hey guys! Thank you for the perspective between there and here, always wanted to visit the pacific north west, Olympic National Park etc. if you want seaside towns with amusements etc, Blackpool, Skegness, Minehead, Brighton, amongst many others. The Hotel looked lovely too. Plus a different twist on fish and chips, may have to do a homemade tuna variety. Thank you and hope you are both well ❤
I really love your videos and the enthusiasm you put into them as I am British I really like the way you are trying out everything in the UK. The fish and chips you had looked delicious but I never heard of using tuna, I would give it a try though. Thanks for another enjoyable video.
If you want arcades and some fun days out head over to Blackpool in Lancashire. Awesome prom, arcades along the beach front and on the piers. You have Blackpool tower which is a mini Eiffel Tower. Blackpool is home to the infamous £1 burger! I used to love going here as a kid, we’d call them penny falls with the sliding shelf and coins - 5 quid would last all day and bag you loads of prize tickets - Won way too many dinosaurs and unicorn plushies over the years!!
@@TheMagicGeekdom Liverpool is much better with nice and friendly people. Beddgelert village is nice. Newborough beach is nice. Blackpool is a very cheap area where working/benefits class people tend to go on holiday with their children, with crack heads wandering around offering you pills at night time. You could go but it's definitely not what you'd call a nice area.
The notorious seaside arcade town is Blackpool. Its a popular destination for stag and hen night's. Think of it as budget Las Vegas. Known for Blackpool Tower, worth a visit. Every visit needs to have a cone of chips and a "99" ice cream 😋 A "99" is a whippy ice cream with a Flake in it
@@TheMagicGeekdom they also have "the Blackpool illuminations" which is a series of big neon lights in various images and designs all down the sea front. Looks amazing at night! They turn them on in September till the end of December. British weather tends to be hit and miss then though
The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is spectacular, it's one of a few places that takes your breath away! The Pleasure Beach if you like theme parks. Sandy beaches and three piers, so much better than Brighton. Sadly, it has been used as a dumping ground for migrants so be careful at night.
I actually thought you were in the uk! I first started watching your channel after seeing your visit to chester, im planning my own visit now on your recommendation 😀 i figured if you can make the journey from america i can make it from the south coast of england!
The only time I've seen Tuna in a Fish & Chip shop was in the form of Fishcakes (The Brigg in Dunfermline used to sell them, along with Cod ones), pretty sure they were bought in from a whole-seller as opposed to anything made on site, as it was obviously the same tuna you get in cans. That said I do remember another chippy in Rosyth selling battered Salmon Belly once, far as oily fish goes. That said, we clearly must send emergency shipments of Curry Sauce to the USA... like several barrels worth of it.
For the arcades, has to be Yarmouth (Great Yarmouth, Norfolk). The most quintessential thing is the Snails ride at Joyland - though it is aimed at the younger kids!
As an American, I am fascinated by Britain because of the people, and because of the extremely old architecture and history that is woven into daily living. Also, England has such a unique feel to it. It reminds me of King Arthur, and The Sword and The Stone.
Ok so, next time you are in the U.K. check out the suffolk coast, esp Aldeburgh and Southwold for awesome fish and chips and beer. Arcades can be found in Great Yarmouth or any sea side town. Random museums, the U.K. has lots. My fav is the Pencil Museum in the Lake District.
I love your enthusiasm for the UK 💚 but after 52 years here, I can't share the enthusiasm. That said, as long as the UK is better, easier and safer to live in than the US, I guess this is where I'll stay. Keep on enjoying it as visitors; thats the best way to enjoy it. By far.
come to NY in Greenwich Village, there is a fish and chip shop called A Salt and Battery...you'll get your curry sauce there. Great vlog guys, really enjoyed it, I am in the UK right now as mom passed away, but as soon as I get back I do miss a lot of things from England. xo
I did a road trip around New York state and New England several years ago. It absolutely pissed down with rain a lot of the time, and I really felt at home! ;) Yeah, people go on about all the differences between the UK and the US, but there are actually a lot of similarities too, especially in some places. Yeah, the seaside is the seaside. On another trip, Santa Monica felt pretty much like Bournemouth on a nice day. 😀 With the pier and everything.

The beaches on the North west peninsula are absolutely magical, as are the moss forests.
Cheers! Dara
Thanks, Dara!
come to Liverpool guys!
Omg...that T-shirt is everything! 💯😄
Thanks. 😂😁
Looks tasty! Great video, The cool cloudy weather is of no consequence to your friendly, smiley & positive manner, unlike so much else on You tube, Well done!!
You’ll fit in perfectly when you finally get here on a more permanent basis.
Keep up the good work you two and, as always, stay safe!
Thank you so much!
The museum of childhood & the camera obscura (both Edinburgh) are very quirky & filled with curios!
Thanks, Philip! Boston is really different, but also a great place.
I’m the same. Born and raised in Tennessee but absolutely love UK! Been 3 times and never gets old to me!
It is really fantastic!
hi guys Glad you're lovin' the UK.I am in the UK lots to see and do.I love your channel.I am in the progress of moving to the USA lol....You have got some amazing places over there as well.
There are some great places at home too. Good luck moving there! Where are you moving to?
@@TheMagicGeekdom I am moving to a place called Harrisburg In pennsylvania Spent a bit of time over there and I absolutely loved it got to see lots of great things and I'm looking forward to doing many more.
Cara and Jeremy your a lovely young couple and thank you for teaching other Americans that uk food is not disgusting and inedible. Believe it or not a lot of Americans think the uk is dark cold and miserable with no sunshine! Love you pair of lovely people. Maureen South Wales uk.❤
Blackpool, Lancashire is the best for amusement arcades has several big ones, and also 3 seaside piers with games and fake horse racing with live commentary. Love it.
Love that you're so enthusiastic about the UK.😊
And if you come here let me know and I'll tell you where you can drive right through the middle of a field of sheep.
great idea! also, that simpsons t-shirt is first class. that pub/hotel is really cosy.
Thank you!
@@TheMagicGeekdom Wonderful! I love Durham as a city. I hope you had a lovely time.
The working men's clubs would travel in Red Double Decker buses, usually up to 10
We need to check South Wales out. We need to visit more of Wales in general.
Brilliant video. Great take on your own perspective on the UK ,to now. It's one of the best you've done. However, you are becoming Anglo Philes rapidly for sure. That was excellent. Xx
Thanks for that!
Hello from England 🏴 I love You two. Welcome too the UK ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I live in Tacoma and am loving your channel. Reading the comments I see so many from the UK, loving that as well!
The Biggest and best seaside town in the UK is Blackpool, but there is also Brighton, Margate, Southend-On-Sea and Skegness (a bit hard to get too)
Awesome thank you! We did need mushy peas!
@@TheMagicGeekdom maybe next time then hahaha love your vids glad you like the UK
So many historic items are found by mudlarkers
spot on, Lorna ! :)
Oh, wow! I will have to look that up. Sounds very interesting.
Wow! that battered Tuna looked lovely , wish they did that here.
It's quite good!
Jeremy's T-shirt has made my day! Love from Durham, UK! Say hi when you next visit.
Love your energy ❤ looks like an amazing day 🎉
Just stumbled across your channel and it makes me chuckle. As a Brit who spent some time living in NYC it always interesting the difference between the two nations with a common language. PS sitting in your car eating fish and chips at the seaside on a rainy day is a very British experience 😂
Your channel is brilliant, I love watching your videos.
Thank you so much!
You should visit Great Yarmouth for the arcades, we also have the Norfolk Broads on our doorstep and Cromer to the north.
Lovely people, all the very best to you both from Wales, UK.❤
That sounds fun!
As a Brit, I come to your videos to enjoy your take on the UK. I have to say, though, it was really fun and interesting to see you in your natural habitat.
Thank you, Tony! The next video will be a UK one!
Wookey hole in Somerset. They have an old penny arcade. 😊 plus the caves are fun to walk around with the legend of the witch turned to stone by a a monk from Glastonbury. It’s also been used for a film location for Doctor Who.
Our friends have told us we need to visit Wookey Hole!
I love seeing you both back in the PNW... I miss Whidbey Island WA and the surrounding areas so much..
I have always wanted to go to America all my life. I live in UK and hope I may get to go one day. Love your videos.
Cool video, really liked the look of the Shelburne Hotel and the museum of curiosities 😃
They're both very cool!
Thank you, John! It is a very beautiful area!
You guys need to hit Margate,Broadstairs and Ramsgate on The Isle of Thanet ..east Kent coast 1 hour on the fast train from London . You might just end up living there full time.
We are spending more time in Kent this time.
Mmm. Not sure about that!
Ever since I was a young kid, all I ever wanted was to move and live in the US. I've been over a few times and it never disappoints but, alas, I never did live out that ambition. Love the place and the people.
Sounds similar to how we feel about the UK. Don't know if we'll ever be long term residents, but we love visiting.
5:29 well that sign isn't right. In Australia there is a beach called Ninety Mile Beach that is actually 55 Miles long.
You both have such bubbly joyous personalities,, ❤,,, so funny you looking for anything to remind you of the UK 😂
I have a beach on my doorstep (well 10min walk) and I like to find a patch of small shingle stones and look through them for the very tiny shells ,, so many ,, such pretty colours ,,, I’ve started making jewellery and was thinking on a sea side theme…
Thank you, Macki!
There's the Derwent Pencil museum in Keswick.
That sounds interesting!
Its a Shame because i would d love to go back, but with my family it would cost nearly as muxh as it would to go abroad now.
hi guys, love it, glad you enjoyed our country
Thank you! 😃
We love Portland and Seaside too! It's so cool that you've been there too!
Your always welcome in the UK x
Thanks! We're excited to be back now!
Thank you and hope you are both well ❤
We are doing pretty well. Thank you, Philip!
I really love your videos and the enthusiasm you put into them as I am British I really like the way you are trying out everything in the UK. The fish and chips you had looked delicious but I never heard of using tuna, I would give it a try though. Thanks for another enjoyable video.
I love America and Americans, but please, we really want you back 😊
If you want arcades and some fun days out head over to Blackpool in Lancashire.
Are you serious. Recommending Blackpool? It's.. not good.
@@WokeVeganLiberal feel free to recommend somewhere else then…
We need to visit Blackpool While we're here this time!
I think you said you're living in Rye for a while. Might I suggest the vintage penny machine arcade, in the Rye Heritage Centre?
Same over here but we may have warmer this week ❤
We've been mostly lucky so far over here, but we'll take some nicer weather.
Deep fried, battered tuna sounds amazing! Fresh tuna is relatively rare here in Yorkshire.
It's pretty good!
There is a fun arcade at Portobello Beach in Edinburgh. Also, ice cream, fish and chips and charity shops.
You guys brighten up my day, absolutely love your channel ❤
The notorious seaside arcade town is Blackpool. Its a popular destination for stag and hen night's. Think of it as budget Las Vegas. Known for Blackpool Tower, worth a visit. Every visit needs to have a cone of chips and a "99" ice cream 😋 A "99" is a whippy ice cream with a Flake in it
Don't forget the tram ride.
We do need to go there!
That's so exciting that you're going to Chester. We hope that you love it!
They clearly need more curry sauce in the US.
It is really cool seeing all the history they have. It just feels different.
You guys are so gentle
Thank you.
In Newcastle-upon-Tyne there is a pub called NQ64 and it has neon decor and is lit by black lights and is full of retro arcade games and consoles.
Great vlog guys, really enjoyed it, I am in the UK right now as mom passed away, but as soon as I get back I do miss a lot of things from England. xo
Me and my husband go to Brighton (england) every year for our anniversary. I love going to the pier as it has an arcade and rides well worth a visit.
We're going to check it out!
And pebble "beaches". Northern seaside towns have sandy beaches, far more character and northerners are far friendlier.
