Love your bike and comments! I have a 2019 road glide special. Billiard Blue and all blacked out and has the stage 1 setup. I personally like all the powder coat but it is a problem on the front forks. Every little Nick, Stone, Gravel, or sand will chip away at the powder coat leaving little marks that drive me crazy. With the chrome forks you don’t have that problem. I also agree with your comments about the Bullitt running lights. I didn’t understand why they make those cheap little halogens but your explanation makes sense. One of the first things I did was buy a new seat. The wife was complaining about the lack of comfort for her (the passenger) on the stock seat. So I spent the $$ and bought a blue diamond stitched Saddlemen Road Sofa that looks and feels great! Problem solved. Planning on getting some heated grips and installing them myself per your suggestion. Enjoy the new ride!

That sunset, awesome. Chrome lowers with the colour and chrome already on the bike would be my thoughts. Yeah, my thoughts are it's a lot of coin for a bike, I really like mine, but seat and bars suck balls. Nice thanks. I picked up the 8 inch klockwerks but I want a second screen for when I crush miles. The info you guys give me is for sure going into my research while I’m finalizing my build plan. Thanks Jeff.
Powder coating the lower forks black would be good. Matching the front fender. As for the ride I thought mine was pretty good until I shelled out for the Legends Revo As. Night and day. Not only did it make the bumps feel like I was in a car the handling tighted up and felt like I was on rails. Beautiful bike. Can't wait to see what you do to it.
Thanks I appreciate your suggestions. I test rode a 2019 road glide this weekend because I wanted to try out the bars. My dealer just hands me fobs for stuff I like knowing I won’t buy it cuz they love me. It has the Revo A. I used the brakes with some extra love, maybe a lot of extra love, and front forks still didn’t bottom out. I didn’t want to ride back home on my bike lol
Your welcome. I would be happy to answer any questions you have that were not covered in the video if I have the answer. Sorry the pace is so slow I’m getting better at having personally over time lol.
I like your plan to go with black lower forks vs chrome. I found the stock seat surprisingly decent and I’m 265lbs. I did replace it recently with a Badboyz cyclez freedom seat with removable back rest/ gel seat and so far it’s a big improvement, when the back gets tired I pop the support in and it make me comfortable again.
I have not. I did not know that option was viable. I have been looking at buying chrome units from Harley or having the poorly polished forks powder coated with super chrome. Do you have an example of how to do higher grade polishing you can send me to?
Figured that one out a few days after this video went up. Now I just need to figure out how to set the speaker volume to adjust with the throttle again. Dealer had to factory reset my computer and set everything else back the way I wanted it but can’t find that option lol
Awesome area you live. Brilliant riding for days 😎👍 Seats - Saddleman touring HD MoCo do a chrome and black lower fork. I’d go the BlacK 😉👍 New subscriber... cheers for the review 🍻🏍💨
I think H-D should lower price if not using led lights, modern upgrades, better exhaust! If someone wants $30,000 for motorcycle, it should come with optimum equipment already installed! If HD wants you to change out parts for better parts, they should lower costs accordingly! To many too choose from! Then Harley needs to build custom bikes with all customer needs already. My dealer says he's like to just give Harleys away an make money on parts & accessory items!
I will piece that info together tonight and hit you with it but it’s a GoPro 9black with GoPro factory audio adapter and a cheap 9 dollar microphone. Nothing advanced at all.
@@wyomoto1349 yea man it's that red America 🇺🇸 edition with the no.1 on it. I had a 2018 fatboy but I went to the bagger last year . Diggin it . Wind buffer ..stereo...storage to carry my shit..lol.
regarding the hill assist: you should be able to activate it any time, including a flat road. I don’t know if that amounts to user error, but if its not user error, you should have that checked out.
I mentioned it when I went in for the 1k service. They never said anything to me and it worked normal after that. I assume they did something to computer. I appreciate you looking out for me.
I tossed in the WHIM from Harley. If I knew what I know now I would have put the Sena module in the bike instead. Check out the law abiding biker he explains it all in great detail on UA-cam.
If you already have the whim then I had to connect both the headset and phone to the bike. I have to connect the headset first then the phone. If I do it in that order it give my phone a pop up that says “switch to car play?” I click that and I’m all set. If you need to talk about it in more detail hit me up on Instagram I’m happy to help any way I can. @wyomoto13
Chrome lower forks would look better to me. You don’t have any other black on the bike. The paint on the fender doesn’t tie to the metal forks. If you start adding black metal it won’t look right until you add more black.
Hill assist to me seems like I need a lot more pre load on the throttle to get the bike going almost like it wants to die out! So I’m not sure about it still
I’m on my second Harley and I’ll tell you, when I first bought my first Harley which was a 2020 road glide special, I thought about the same thing. Why is it that Harley doesn’t give me led’s, or apple CarPlay with a 30k motorcycle and man I never thought about what that Harley tech told you. Now I have upgraded to a 2021 road glide cvo and I still don’t have apple CarPlay lol. But a Harley it’s a Harley and love it or hate it, that’s a gorgeous, machine u got there.
Thank you sir. The CVO should have come with the WHIM it’s just a pain to set up a headset and toss it in your saddlebag if you don’t want it in your helmet lol
@@wyomoto1349 yea it comes with the Harley head set but to my understating you have to connect that headset to the motorcycle or something like that in order to be able to use Apple CarPlay and honestly who wants to do that. For example, I use the pack talk bold on my helmet. So for me, I would have to go to the dealer and I guess pay them to flash my radio in order for me to use Apple CarPlay by just connecting the phone to the usb cable.
There is a 25 dollar part you can plug in that makes the bike think a headset is connected and allows apple CarPlay if you don’t want to mess with a headset and don’t mind opening your fairing one time. Just trying to help I’m not a know it all I’m learning all this recently myself!
@@wyomoto1349 yea I know about it, I bought it for my 2020 road glide special and it was great, but while on a road trip and using Apple CarPlay it suddenly stopped working, and my usb stopped working completely, didn’t even charge my phone. So if ur planning on getting that plug in mod Be mindful that it mess up ur cable. I never took the bike to the dealer to find out what had happened to the usb cable because I upgraded my bike, but I can only suspect it had something to do with that mod.
Wow my friend I really enjoyed this trip around that beautiful place you live and I felt like if I were there doing the road by myself! One time I was in Cheyene Wyoming for a business trip but I would like to take a trip there in my Harley and live that experience. I’m from Guadalajara Mexico and I’m about to buy a Harley but I’m not sure about the model I should buy, I’m between a Road Glide Special or a Fat Boy, could you please tell me what’s your opinion and give me some feedback comparing both models? Regards and drive safe 😎👍🏼
The differences between those two bikes is such a long list I would almost have to make a video to cover it all. If those are the bikes you are most interested in I would suggest you ask yourself a few questions. Do you need GPS? Stereo? Bags? Are you ready for a bike that weighs 150 lb more than the Fat Boy? Do you need win protection? Then ask yourself do you like to carve canyons? Do you find yourself doing very long trips or in very busy and tight parking lots? If you answered yes to most of those questions get the Road Glide. If you do small trips around town and just want to look cool, have a lighter weight bike, and have a better suspension from the factory, you should go with the Fat Boy. That is the shortest version I can think of a very very long answer lol
@@wyomoto1349 thanks man I really appreciate your comments about all this, so Do you think the softails has a better suspension than the Road Glide Special? What about all the security? The IMU, RDRS, Double disc on Brembo Breaks, ABS cornering, etc. Is it worth paying for all this equipment? My main concern is on the issue of safety, comfort, technology that I will not have in the Fat Boy, however I live in a city with a lot of traffic where you have to be filtering all the time between the vehicles you almost feel like you are in the jungle And all that agility is not going to give me the Road Glide, my trips regularly are around a maximum of three and a half hours, but the roads in Mexico have too many potholes and are not very safe, I came from driving a Tiger 900 GT pro of the Triumph And I would like a motorcycle with classic style that will give me many of the characteristics, technology and comfort that I have in this motorcycle; What model would you recommend from Harley Davidson on the Softail line?
@@memoto3059 I have only found the RDRS to kicked in traction control one time in a month. Wet road and I was cornering, the rear tire was on a tar strip lost traction and RDRS kicked in almost instantly reducing throttle. Probably didn’t save me from a dump, but if I had been more aggressive it would have. The abs works equivalent on both bikes. The only time dual disc front brakes really matter is if you are riding the bike really hard somewhere with curves and hills, dual discs take longer to heat up fade. Otherwise you have same stopping distance. If your wanting to split lanes, do 3.5 hour trips max, and ride aggressively enough that your actually need dual disk front brakes… I would suggest looking at the low rider s or fat bob. The anti theft security stuff on any 2021 softtail or touring bike is almost identical. Just a matter of where the fork lock is on the bike. You can get a phone mount for your handlebars to watch gps and Bluetooth music into your helmet headset for a lot less money than the road glide special. You can also get a windscreen or fairing for either of the softtails I mentioned as well.
@@memoto3059 lastly the seat and foot controls on the touring models are the biggest sellers for me. The position just feels natural for very long rides. But you also have to dump more money on a good suspension to truly enjoy the long haul rides.
@@wyomoto1349 Apple. I do have a weird one though for ya lol. If I have my memory stick connected and my phone laying in the same pocket. It will occasionally drop off and go to the radio for about 10 seconds then back to the memory stick lol
I tossed some Vance and Hinds slip on. Still no auto tuner available so I did that temporarily until they resolve the issue or I trade this bike in for something that works lol
So I am looking to get one of these soon. I don't want to trade in my old fatboy 98 but its time for me to move up now. I'm 6'4 270lbs and I just want to make sure that the handling and the seat comfort is grade A. I already did a 6 hour drive on my fatboy and believe me my ass was asleep 1/4 of the way there. Also how are the speakers on it because I like to jam out while I ride and I want to know how the speakers sound at around 70 to 80 mph?
If you are 6 foot 4 you will want an aftermarket seat, you will want an aftermarket windscreen. The factory stereo is great as long as you have good wind protection to keep “clean air” between you and the speakers. The handling is good, but the road damage absorption is poor and the front end dive when braking hard is rediculous. I have changed my seat and my bars now (posted other videos about them) and things just keep better. Next move will be suspension and lower front fork replacement.
@@wyomoto1349 okay sounds good. I will definitely have to do that. I've been looking at some handlebars as well. I was looking at the gorilla ape hangers. They're 1inch 1/4 thick chromed and 14 inches in height. It keeps my hands and arms level with my head. I don't like them low or too high. Also I will look into the seats for long rides
@@walkingdeadalphaCO bagger bar clamps are 1 1/4, but all the hand control hardware mounts to a bar that is 1 1/2. So you will either need to find adapters or all new controls I believe. Also have a video on new 14 inch bars. I been busy in just over 2 months lol
I used the pro street from Harley. I’m not replacing the headers or using an aftermarket tuner until warranty is shot. Then we go with the big boy toys lol
I've never seen someone lug a Harley this bad. Shifting gears at 2200 - 2500 RPM? The damn motor is barely revving. Shift points are between 3100 and 4200. Even the break in procedure say's you can run it up to 3900 RPM. That's before your first oil change.
Yes, the mono shock from the Softail lineup handled far better when adjusted properly. I don’t feel the rear wheel on a sport glide move out of line an inch when I am carving a canyon and hit a bump but I feel it in the road glide. Maybe it’s my imagination but I doubt it because I have to correct.. the impact force just isn’t distributed as well and the tire comes off the road just a hair in my mind.
@@wyomoto1349 maybe that will be something they fix on the new 2022 model? Who knows but after my wife and I have our wedding service we're just doing something small just to save money I'm gonna go ahead and trade in my 98 fatboy and put some money down on one. I will do a little more research on them though before I get it
@@walkingdeadalphaCO I would say test ride everything. The big 3 fixed fairing bikes all bring something different to the table. If it had not been for the rake and trail at low speeds I would be on a challenger right now cuz it was the far superior bike for ripping canyons and traveling on crappy roads.
We have a debate gooing in another video about those two and a seat from bad boyz cycles. Corbin seams a little out of my budget and i would really need to be sold on that one. I appreciate you trying to help me out. My favorite softail and dyna seat was saddleman step up but I have to go with more hours of comfort over stunts and appearance lol
You will need to pair your headset to your phone and your bike. Plug your phone into the USB port on the bike. Click the “switch to CarPlay” button when pop on your phone. If you have never updated the CarPlay software on your bike, and you have one of the newer iPhones you will need to pop into your dealer and have them update to latest software. If none of that works hit me back. If it does work click the like button on this video 🤪
That is actually my next upgrade. Didn’t think I needed one until I rode to Sturgis and did all the rides without one. I am torn on 2 different choices. More on that soon lol
@@kedwards1952 The million reviews I have seen for Klockworkz and Memphis Shades put them above all others in my mind. It’s just a matter which one makes exactly the right height, width, and slope for me. I need the right height, but I also need it narrow enough that it does not impede my GoPro mounted to the fairing. I have received a lot of positive feedback on Instagram that the angle and distance is perfect there.
So Harley is charging $27k for a bike without LEDs, heated grips, heated seats or a nice sounding exhaust because they want to make sure customers don’t over pay??? 🤨
I was making a video from Lincoln Memorial to Cheyenne but the video lost its point when I the fairing GoPro footage went bye bye. It’s on the list to reshoot again.
I considered that or having them powder coated at the same time we powder coat a bunch of stuff on my wife’s sport glide because she wants to go 100% black and pink. It is far cheaper if you powder coat that many items at once than it is to buy Harley replacements in gloss black. Good lookin out.

As soon as you said Lincoln monument and Laramie, WY I was like I know exactly where he’s going. I drive a truck so I’ve been there several times
Nothing says adrenal rush like driving a truck and trailer up and down that summit as we are having temperature changes and the wind goes nuts 😜
@@wyomoto1349 especially when empty lol
@@Overlord3420 Yes sir. We have “no high profile light weight vehicles until further notice” signs flashing a lot lol
@@wyomoto1349 hell yeah you do, I’ve shut down in Cheyenne many times bc of wind or snow
Hey have you thought about stripping the clear off the forks, then polishing them. They look just great and just require elbow grease.
I have not. I did not know that option was viable. I have been looking at buying chrome units from Harley or having the poorly polished forks powder coated with super chrome. Do you have an example of how to do higher grade polishing you can send me to?
Gloss black forks would take it to another level.
I like the saddle man pro. They have it for the touring models.
I picked up a solo seat after solid advice from a lot of people but I am still tossing around the 2up options.
Long press the Home button and it will give you the option to go to your info screen and you NEVER have to touch your screen.
Figured that one out a few days after this video went up. Now I just need to figure out how to set the speaker volume to adjust with the throttle again. Dealer had to factory reset my computer and set everything else back the way I wanted it but can’t find that option lol
Awesome area you live. Brilliant riding for days 😎👍

HD MoCo do a chrome and black lower fork. I’d go the BlacK 😉👍
New subscriber... cheers for the review 🍻🏍💨
Aprecio tus palabras.
@@wyomoto1349 haha I don’t speak Spanish. I’m Australian 😂😂
I have those words tattooed on me.
Now I gotta google what you replied 😂
I think H-D should lower price if not using led lights, modern upgrades, better exhaust! If someone wants $30,000 for motorcycle, it should come with optimum equipment already installed! If HD wants you to change out parts for better parts, they should lower costs accordingly! To many too choose from! Then Harley needs to build custom bikes with all customer needs already. My dealer says he's like to just give Harleys away an make money on parts & accessory items!
You can hit up Willy Shiny for chrome lowers or black lowers. For less than $200
I thought HD made a small antenna to replace that long whip antenna. Congrats on the RGS. Still waiting on my Harley.
They do, but eventually I am changing the rear fender to a fender that doesn’t have a hole there so I wanted a solution that works for both.
They make a wireless antenna that mounts inside the fairing.
I must look into this for when I leave home and go to places that have FM stations lol (Funny but also true)
@@randyswanson3300 Exactly. The CVO has that hidden antenna.
Filling your tires with nitrogen may help with the elevation change
What microphone setup do you use? Your voice comes through loud and clear.
I will piece that info together tonight and hit you with it but it’s a GoPro 9black with GoPro factory audio adapter and a cheap 9 dollar microphone. Nothing advanced at all.
That is a good looking bike man . I've got a 2020 RGS
my favorite color ever was 2020, but i just hated hydraulic clutches and didnt get my first bagger till now.
@@wyomoto1349 yea man it's that red America 🇺🇸 edition with the no.1 on it. I had a 2018 fatboy but I went to the bagger last year . Diggin it . Wind buffer ..stereo...storage to carry my shit..lol.
@@MrCtsSteve I love that paint scheme a lot!!!!
Just got one this last weekend, look forward to seeing what y ado with it.
I’m almost 8 grand deep with mods but you can barely tell and now it’s winter and I quit my job so upgrades are taking a pause lol
Just bought mine. Loving it !
Nice! It’s a dream come true if you don’t want an exhaust that requires an auto tuner. Congrats man!!
regarding the hill assist: you should be able to activate it any time, including a flat road. I don’t know if that amounts to user error, but if its not user error, you should have that checked out.
I mentioned it when I went in for the 1k service. They never said anything to me and it worked normal after that. I assume they did something to computer. I appreciate you looking out for me.
I didn’t realize it was working properly I made that video same day as 1k service
I have a street glide and cant seem to eliminate buffeting, i heard its less of an issue with road glides
Love hearing about Laramie BTW. I'm from a small town in Southern Indiana. About 2k people. We worry about those same things.
Have you noticed the bike being extra top heavy? I had a 2016 roadglide and it seems a lot lighter however it was not A limited.
Good video and info. Is that the Sena 50R your using? if so how did you get it to work with Apple CarPlay?
I tossed in the WHIM from Harley. If I knew what I know now I would have put the Sena module in the bike instead. Check out the law abiding biker he explains it all in great detail on UA-cam.
@@wyomoto1349 Thanks for the info, I have a CVO RG and the Sena 50R, but can not get it to work together, yes I do watch the Law Abiding Bike logs.
It’s more complicated that I ever thought bike decisions would be lol
Hill assist to me seems like I need a lot more pre load on the throttle to get the bike going almost like it wants to die out! So I’m not sure about it still
I noticed that on a hill in Sturgis where I needed to get into traffic quickly. It was frustrating how much it needed to unlock.
Great review, you just got a new sub, also what bike is that next to the road glide?
2020 Spott Glide
It was my bike for almost 2 years but my wife wanted it so we didn’t trade it in.
I have a mustang super touring seat on my 2019 road glide it is so comfortable.
You inspired the opener for my next video.
How do you black out the forks?
I don’t get the no playable media found message. I don’t have whim either though. Could be the cause. I listen to sxm on my ride a lot. Apple as well.
I appreciate you bringing that up. I will do some homework on that and get back with you. Are you using android or apple?
@@wyomoto1349 Apple. I do have a weird one though for ya lol. If I have my memory stick connected and my phone laying in the same pocket. It will occasionally drop off and go to the radio for about 10 seconds then back to the memory stick lol
Sorry 2 minutes all I could take
I must have missed it but, what make of mufflers did you install?
I tossed some Vance and Hinds slip on. Still no auto tuner available so I did that temporarily until they resolve the issue or I trade this bike in for something that works lol
What mufflers did you put on? Slip ons? Brand ?
Vance and Hines Twin Slash
Have you heard of everything regular might get some ideas for black lowers or any other color
Yes I have watched a few of his salvage projects. He is boss mode with some of those fix and flip projects.
@@wyomoto1349 I'm watching it now lol
What tuner did you use ?
I used the pro street from Harley. I’m not replacing the headers or using an aftermarket tuner until warranty is shot. Then we go with the big boy toys lol
Hold down the Home Button for 5 seconds and see what happens. Your Welcome
I actually learned that one 3 days after I made this video, but I appreciate the hell out of you for trying to help me out.
I've never seen someone lug a Harley this bad. Shifting gears at 2200 - 2500 RPM? The damn motor is barely revving. Shift points are between 3100 and 4200. Even the break in procedure say's you can run it up to 3900 RPM. That's before your first oil change.
This was one of my first videos I was focused on so many things it made me nuts lol
Where dis you move tho Wyoming from?
I am originally from Florida..
Bought my 21 RGS in April. The whim thing put me off too lol
100% sweetness.
I mean from this video I can see that the handling is great
I just wish the rear shocks were a little more "premium"
@@wyomoto1349 are they not that good? If you go over a bump does it throw you a bit?
As far as seats, I'd choose a Mustang or Corbin.
I can't get my Apple carplay to work, any tips?
You will need to pair your headset to your phone and your bike. Plug your phone into the USB port on the bike. Click the “switch to CarPlay” button when pop on your phone. If you have never updated the CarPlay software on your bike, and you have one of the newer iPhones you will need to pop into your dealer and have them update to latest software. If none of that works hit me back. If it does work click the like button on this video 🤪
The order you pair everything up is important. Matt Laidlaw did a great video explaining the order and why.
Just picked mine up last week. LED lights all around should come standard for 30 grand. What windshield are you going with if any.
That is actually my next upgrade. Didn’t think I needed one until I rode to Sturgis and did all the rides without one. I am torn on 2 different choices. More on that soon lol
@@wyomoto1349 Yes I've been researching windshields since I bought mine.
@@wyomoto1349 Thanks for the tip. I have seen good reviews for Freedom shields also. I'll keep you posted if I pull the trigger in one.
I have had two Freedom Shields windshields. Outstanding product; almost 30K miles and zero issues. John at Freedom Shields is terrific.
Have 17 road glide special. Good videos on UA-cam about the M8. Look up Baxter’s Garage. It may interest you.
What’s your miles per Gallon results ?
About 40. Even with a tune this elevation and constant going up steep inclines in my area I don’t get advertised mpg lol
I just did a search on UA-cam for polishing harley forks

So Harley is charging $27k for a bike without LEDs, heated grips, heated seats or a nice sounding exhaust because they want to make sure customers don’t over pay??? 🤨
Yes that is the sales pitch lol
Good quality
I blew up my Grandpas truck on Sherman hill . Back before everybody had cell phones . If you ever ride Happy Jack be careful on that road .

@@wyomoto1349 I’m really digging the scenery ! Some day you should do a video on Happy Jack past the tubing hill Hines Lodge And Gowdy into Cheyenne .

Thank you. Already a few mods done since this video and new bars this weekend 🥳🤩😎
Why not pull them off and paint them yourself? Rattle can spray black would be easy and look good, lot better than polished alum.
I considered that or having them powder coated at the same time we powder coat a bunch of stuff on my wife’s sport glide because she wants to go 100% black and pink. It is far cheaper if you powder coat that many items at once than it is to buy Harley replacements in gloss black. Good lookin out.
9:00 BLACK out the front forks.......Just my opinion....or Half BLACK them out.
