When I saw that woman go viral on TikTok for perming her locs bc she said her edges looked like coochie hair I knew texturism is never gonna go away in our community 😒🙄
I agree! It took me years to love my 4c hair and now I sincerely believe that I’m blessed ! I love everything about my hair! And taking care of it is fun to me!🙏
It probably matches your features and coloring. I look fake with 4c hair, not my natural texture. Hope you aren’t wearing weave or wigs to disguise your real texture.
I have 4c hair as well, and I love it so much. But I don't think it's the "best". I don't think any hair texture is better than others. I believe God made varieties and we are all beautiful in our own way. I think every race's hair that grows out of their scalp as the creator intended, is valid. 4c or straight.
I had to learn the hard way that eating unhealthy and having no vitamins negatively affects my energy and my hair growth. I try to eat more fruits and take vitamins supplements which make the root of my hair feel stronger.
Yasss it’s def not genetics. I believe that the vast majority can grow hair down their backs. Texturism is not going away. But honestly when you love your hair. It doesn’t matter. It gets comical after a while. Learning to love myself and all my blackness meant more to me than anything. It wasn’t a social justice thing for me either. It was literally just a journey about myself. But black women loving themselves innately is social justice because the world is antiblack so it is what is. Don’t let people’s opinions about you bother you bc they usually fall under 2 groups…. Those that don’t love themselves or those that never had to walk in your shoes but think they understand your journey.
Two things can be true at the same time. Hair growth is part genetics. But that being said it's also for a big part how you take care of your hair. No one's genetics prevents them from having APL hair.
@@leila_de_hautjardinHow is hair growth part of genetics? I would say hair type and hair texture can be part of your genetic make up. As the DNA is in the hair strands.
@@mariepearl-harbour2335 genetics is the determining factor in how quickly hair grows from your scalp (obviously nutrition or illness/medications can affect this). Your length is how much hair you’ve managed to keep after haircuts, breakage etc over the years 😅
@mequelle So are you suggesting a woman with mixed heritage is more likely to have a faster hair growth? Eventhough their are non-mixed/non-admixed women when they get their hair routine right, their hair rate growth can be quite fast...
@@mequelle When women of various Afro-descent or various African descent put their hair in locks. The hair can grow quickly. I see your point. But I'm trying to open your mind to a different perspective.
You helped me move past a hair plateau by pointing out in earlier videos that 4C women with long hair are consistent and “boring.” Game changer! Congrats on all your growth, it is so noticeable
The length is lengthing! A year from now it'll be steadily traveling down your back. 😊 So interesting that your hair does that! Sometimes my hair will swell a little overnight in twists but it usually drops after being free to hang for an hour or so. I wonder if your hair is also reacting to electricity in the air. 🤔

You my dear, you deal with these issues like a Queen 👑 Thank you so much for your input 🤝 The more I watch your videos, the less I think (like my mother, grandmother and great grandmother made me to) that I'm an inferior and undesirable human being who doesn't deserve a sweet and happy life. All hair types can grow long. It's important to find an organic hair routine that suits your hair type. I find women seem to dislike coarse textured coily and kinky hair. I find spiral curly, silky soft shiny hair is just a very popular and is probably a preferred hair type, particularly amongst Afro-American women. All hair types and textures have beauty and glory. Congratulations on your hair journey. Trust the Heavenly Father through the True Messiah to blossom your hair. And that your hair reaches amazing lengths. Peace and Blessings.
@@mariepearl-harbour2335 I think it is the preferred hair type. I never was big on straight hair. When I used to wear weave I was addicted to the wet and wavy. That is definitely still one of my favorite hair textures to this day. But now it’s the Afro hair for me. I think because it’s new and people tend to get bored with the same old thing. I wish they let you share pics on here because some of these new styles are gorgeous to me and they simply just suit us better. I think 4c hair is all about the styling vs showing off the texture like the wet and wavy.
@jasminscarbrough2596 Ok. As long as you are embracing your hair, that is all that matters. I find coily and kinky hair is preferred, when it soft textured with a shiny and glossy appearance. Especially when she is blown out straight.
@jasminscarbrough2596 What is 4c? I find this hair typing system debatable. Their are hair models on UA-cam who claim to have so called 4c hair, when the hair type may not be that. I think the texture of the hair can correlate with the hair type. If a woman has soft, shiny hair texture and a coily and kinky hair type, women will say 'Your hair is too soft to be 4c, it's 3c/4a. Or the most 4b.' I've seen these type of comments...
@ well I don’t have that and everyday I get people of all races complimenting my hair. Yesterday I have a black man. Middle eastern man, and a little white girl who looked about 10 compliment my hair. I think kinky hair is about style, length, and confidence. As long as those things are in order it doesn’t matter if you have glossy hair. Our hair isn’t glossy. My aunt with waistlength hair gets attention and her hair damn sure isn’t glossy lol. It’s just thick and out there lol
@jasminscarbrough2596 Ok cool. It's good that your hair is being admired. Your hair may not have a gloss and a shine to her. However, their are women with coily and kinky hair, whose hair is naturally soft with a shiny or even glossy appearance. Each woman must embrace their uniqueness.

That is so sweet! Thanks 🥰
Let’s all just ignore the media, marketing, and messiness. Nothing wrong with any of the textures, especially 4C. It’s all a matrix.
