I've been informed that the mesh filter is completely sold out on his ebay store, you can still email him and receive the discount by mentioning derby koi, details in the description.
Hi Andy, Thank you for sharing the review of the filter. I bought one this week and was astounded how much this mesh filter captures. It's an awesome piece of kit.
Hi Andy, I have been looking to upgrade my filter system. After watching your videos. I got the easy pod compleat. And I'm very happy I did. The mesh filter you reviewed is just amazing. Thanks for your help and advice.
I love the easypod, and the mesh filter has really helped with the fines, im glad the videos help in some way, and I really appreciate you commenting and watching the channel 😊
Hi Andy, Thanks so much for the full review. Glad it's working well for you. As you said I'm in Mallorca for a week, so will ship the ones sold and start back making a new batch when I get back on Thursday and will try to respond to messages when I can. wifi is spotty in hotel haha. Clarification on the mesh, the one you tested is 60 mesh (250 micron) I also stock 50 (300 micron, same as beer filter) and 40 (400 micron). The 50 and 40 will take longer to block, so you get a bit more time between cleans, but are slightly less efficient. I'm also going to be testing a 20 mesh as a low maintenance version. Thanks again! Ian
I bought some of your easypod covers to stop the media escaping when I cleaned the filter, great job! I didn't realise you made other easypod upgrades, I'll be ordering more!
Anyone buying one of these, this video is spot on, GREAT review Andy, Ian who’s making these has nailed it, I’ve been using mine for a few days, 100% Happy, it’s better than described.👍
Brilliant review, I have the beer filter on pump fed system, it works really well, but it only uses half the mesh, this seems a much better idea being over the outlet pipe. I will be investing in one of these, I appreciate you taking the time to test this. And thanks for the discount 😊
Hi Andy I’ve had 1 for about 6 weeks great piece of kit works a treat clean mine every 2 days. He also made me a replacement black hi flow skimmer face plate & skimmer guard top quality fitted millimetre perfect
Hi mate, im really impressed with it, and the build quality is superb. I'm still cleaning once a day, but hopefully, that will get better as it removes more fines.
Looks like a fantastic product if you have the time to constantly clean it. I appreciate that it will overflow when fully loaded but still really for someone who has the time dedicate to cleaning it
Hi Andy great review of this fantastic product I watch all your videos and bought the beer filter on your recommendation which works ok but was always worried that if it blocked then it would cause the eazypod to overfill not that it ever did but with this product you don’t have that problem because when blocked it just overflows back to the pond. I forgot to mention that my system is pump fed 👍🏻
Hi Derek, it's a great filter and work so much better than the beer filter did, and as you say, there is no need to worry about the pod overflowing either. 👍
Great bit of kit Andy just don't think I could do with cleaning it so much be good to see how often it need cleaning when it's settled down, great video again Team Derby Koi 👍🙏🐕
Hi Craig, the cleaning takes about 20 seconds with the hosepipe, and it's about once a day at the moment, but at 20 seconds, I wouldn't mind cleaning it twice a day.
@DerbyKoi thanks Andy would be better if they only needed cleaning at the same time as the filters, make it much easier but I guess there's always going to be a lot of fines and it's doing just what it was produced for, look forward to the next update 👍🙏🐕
Looks great I've ordered one ! Could you actually notice from looking at the water that there were less 'bits'? Also how did you find was the best way to clean it ?
I was surprised at the amount it was collecting, i thought my clarity was ok. Its easy to clean, i just run it under my hose pipe for a few seconds. Let us know how you getbon with it. 😊
Certainly a great piece of kit and does an amazing job of removing fines from the water. !checked out his Ebay store a while back after Vince (Twisted Koi) showcased one and the only downside for me is that shipping to Canada costs more than the filter itself. Still considering a purchase though.
@@DerbyKoi Yeah I’m sure I won’t be. 👍🏼 Yes I saw that he’s on a well deserved holiday just now, so I have sent an email for him to pick up when he can……. 👍🏼 Thanks Andy
I’ve just been looking at these and wondered how good they are, had the beer sieve for a couple of years and been fairly happy with that. I do have the eazypod covers from them and impressed with those too. Good review and think I’ll get one of these sieves.
There's different sizes of mesh, ian is testing a 20 mesh that will need cleaning less, but obviously catches less fines, looking forward to his results
Nice video Andy 👍 That filter seems to be the collecting the fines the wrong way round, on the outside and not the inside, but seems to do the job. I'm using a beer sieve on my Nexus, with a 3D-printed collar (by @Koi Ponics), and that is also collecting a load of fines, but I'm only having to clean it every 2 or 3 days now, although the same as you, was every day at the beginning. Hope you're all well.
Hi mate, he has designed it that way, so once it is full, it will overflow back to the return pipe, so there's no chance of flooding and emptying the pond. But I'm really shocked how many fines it removes.
Hi Richard, I don't make them. I was just testing and reviewing it. You will have to contact sculpted layers directly, but I believe he is in the process of designing one for the nexus. Andy
I home made something very similar to this its 260 micron how often it blocks up varies from every day to every 3 days but my pond is certainly a lot cleaner now
Thanks mate it's doing a much better job at removing the fines than the beer filter did, and as you say, the cleaning will vary depending on feeding, weather, temp, etc. Andy 👍
Hi. I purchased one of these and it keeps making my blade stop. It feeds fine one minute then runs out of steam and stops? Not sure why. Mine is gravity fed.
Hi susan, I'm not sure why it's doing that, but I haven't tried it on a gravity fed pod. Have you emailed him to ask if he knows why? Is the filter pushed all the way down? Sorry I can't be of more help. Andy
Andy is it changing how you tempest is. As that is to take out the fines. And can you remember the dark chestnut koi we got off you can you let me now what it is please thanks.rember jobs a goodun 👍.
just found this having added an overflow to my beer filter version but going to the website they seem to be sold out already! the downside of youtube success!
Eazypods are a great bit of kit easy to clean you do have to get the flow rate right for your needs as every pond is different, and stocking levels will also have an impact as well, which is why I have added extra filtration to my setup.
Hi Andy I have spoken with the guy he is looking into making one for the nexus I have a nexus 220 and I suffer horrendous fines and particles even with a trident up flow eazy I’m cleaning my nexus everyday and it does my brain in
Try reducing your flow rate ! Due to the way K1 works as a static media you need a slow flow even on a nexus 220 / 320. Yes they can take higher flow rates than an eazy pod but at the expense of fines in your pond ! Don't believe me ? Try it and see for yourself !
@@oliverskinner8962 I’ve just doing a test where I have put jap Matt in the exit chamber of the nexus plus’s a piece of jap Matt in the eazy weir tube and with in 24 hrs fines are gone
