It is absolutely safe, this was actually checkmate had the Lily player gone for the command grab. Stocked OD spire is +2 on block, Gief can't even mash jab, much less call on his loyal fans, to avoid getting dunked in that situation.
@@longschlongjohnson6470 Nope. OD Spire is +2 on block -- Mexican Typhoon has 5 frame startup, making it effectively 3 frames following a blocked OD spire. This beats Gief's close jab (4 frames) and both level 3s (6 frames).
You don't have to take my word for it -- take Lily into training mode and set Gief to block all and counter after blocks with 5LP or L3. Get stocks and OD spire into Typhoon. When your timing is correct you will dunk Gief 100% of the time.

The worst part is that the Lily probably would’ve won if they were on Classic controls cause her special moves only do 4/5 the damage the normally do
What you have said is incorrect. Modern moves only do less damage when a shortcut is used, if the Modern player using classic inputs when playing there is no damage scaling or reduction from special moves or Supers.
New or lower level Modern players may do less damage as their learning but against advanced Modern players you are fighting a whole different type of animal. If you don’t know about this to the science 🧪🧫 and you will see what I am say is correct.

Apparently yes (I'm guessing tho just fact check it please don't listing to me it probably have to do with the critical arts/level 3 on block thing)
