    Legend 💙
I'll be in Coniston Monday 16/01/2023 and I will be thinking of him as I climb The Old Man of Coniston.

They often talk about heroes today. Footballers who score a last gasp penalty, political activists who run on the edge of social acceptability. I believe that these so called heroes haven’t got a thing on men like Campbell. In a time when it was lethal just to go motor racing normally, think of how dangerous a thing it was to run the ragged edge of speed records, just as Campbell, Cobb and Seagrave did. They are definition of heroism, and I’ll never, ever forget them.

Thanks Helen :) Glad you like it. The music is called 'Sensual Cinematic' and it's by WaveArt. It's just from a music licensing website so it's nothing too mainstream.

I would be a little bit more prudent while using the word "hero". Recordbreakers, test pilots, barnstormers etc., well, they certainly put their life on the line, are extremely courageous and all that. But one can not put them on the same level as let's say firemen entering burning buildings to save people, or special forces going to extremes to save hostages out of the hands of terrorists, those doctors that tried untested drugs on themselves, knowing too well there wouldn't be other volunteers legally possible etc. The latter simply are in a higher dimension. Their names are generally not known to the larger public, most of the time they aren't as dashing as the Donald Campbells with Jaguar E's and a tumultuous love life the press mosquitos like so much. Let's agree though that both categories are "special men and women", courageous, adventurous, focussed, dare devils; quite uncommon. Having said that, that short tribute is very well crafted, beautifully made, almost like an artistic videoclip. Love it. Should be a bonus on the DVD of the movie with Anthony Hopkins as Campbell....
