The fact that their daughter wants to honor God shows that the parents have done well and probably have a good reason for needing their daughters' attention at the moment.

Unless the parent tells the child to sin then the child has to obey the parent. The child did right to her parents & God. And God promises to bless a child for obeying his/her parents.

Nope. Honoring your parents has nothing to do with listening or obeying your parents. Honour your parents means to live in a honorable manner that will not bring shame on your parents, just as we are called to be a light unto the world and not blaspheme the name of God through our actions.
In Ephesians there is a duty for both the child to obey their parents and parents to nurture and bring the child up in admonition both doing so in the Lord according to Ephesians 6:1-4. Honor is respecting the position of parents in your life and treating them accordingly, not based on your feelings towards them. Parents should be hearing from God about their children, not applying Word for the convenience of making them do something, which I’m not saying this mom is or is not doing that, but parents who are abusive can and will do that.
This generation needs to be hungry for God. Nothing on earth you do matters apart from which you do for God. Put God first and the rest shall follow. She was teaching others also learning.
While I was married to my ex, I always asked myself how was I ever going to introduce my kiddos to God. (Ex wasn’t a believer).
When I finally moved out after he’d filed for a divorce, that’s when my new lease on life began.
I found my way back to God, I got baptized (first time was as an infant), and started freely talking about God. My kids have been hungry and curious for His word.
Glory be to God and His ways of making everything work for our good.
Just keep sowing those seeds, nurture them and they WILL grow in good soil.

The devil has had me stripped of all my resources (savings, 401k, etc), and that’s not all he’s thrown my way the last 3 years I’ve been in divorce and custody court.
And yet… here I am. Thriving.
If it weren’t for the grace of God… I promise you that I would’ve folded a long time ago.
So while some may doubt the existence of God, they can’t deny my testimony.
I will publish my book. And even if it never sells, it’ll be a legacy I leave for my children.
God is **so** very real.
He is as real as another person sitting in the room with you. I truly believe that now, with every fiber of my being.
And it’s an indescribable feeling that I pray other people will have.

I was a kid in an abusive home. My father has serious psychological disorders. And let his rage out on his kids. When I was 17 I walked away from my parents home and never went back. I lived outside that first year.
The one Bible verse my father always drilled into me was Exodus 20:12.

Well theres also the cerse where he says parents spare the rod. And essentially says be kind to your kids and teach them about me. Because they will be judged for hafming their kids and leading them astray.
A kids job isnt to stay with an abusive parent. If for whatever reason your dad needs a nursing home thats all you should provide. He gave you a roof over your head even if it sucked. Also better to be the bigger person while not hurting yourself in the process

And yes he gave me a roof over my head. He reminded me of that constantly. He gave me a roof over my head and fed me he would say. So I owe hi m and I should be grateful. Hmm. I should be grateful he didn’t let me starve to death and didn’t let me die from exposure to the elements. That’s the minimum required by law. Anything less is criminal. So I don’t feel grateful for that.
And I think the verse saying spare the rod and spoil the child means discipline your kids or they will grow up to be bad people.
And living with him didn’t suck. It was a nightmare. Think about what a kid has to be going through to decide to live outside instead of at home with their parents. I lived under a bridge that first summer. Had to steal food from the grocery store to eat. I had two jobs while living under that bridge. Saved money for my first car. I paid $600 for it. I’ll never forget that first winter living in my car.

You must not understand what putting God first means. It doesn’t mean oh let me talk about God as long as I want and neglect other necessities, especially not as a child who has to honor her parents. When you honor something you hold them to a higher standard than others and willingly do as they ask without causing a problem, unless it’s something against God, then you can refuse. The mother wasn’t asking her to do anything but to say one last thing and leave because the mother also has things she must do, she can’t leave her child there day and night to talk about God. You have limitations and talking on a podcast isn’t the only way or place to talk to or learn about God. So no the mother did absolutely nothing wrong in this situation. The hierarchy is Man, Woman, Child and you should learn the word of God before saying a child should disobey their parents because you think you know best.
@@tycanterberry Even Jesus left his mothers side as a 12 year old child to go to the temple of Gods house while the mother was worried where He was at. The heirarchy is God.
I totally agree!! Parents are not above God. Luke 14:26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes, even their own life-such a person cannot be my disciple."
Missing the whole point. Yes, God comes first, But without rules on how to obey God, We become lost.

Mom was right what a great lesson for her kid
My son who is 13 is playing an online game with a boy he met today and he said, momma, I was preaching to him and the words were just flowing. It came so easy. He said the boy was really listening to what I was saying.
There is no doubt that at every age we can preach the gospel in hope a soul is saved. So thankful my kids love the Lord and have their own relationship with Him.
