On TUBI, I watched the early 2000s version of the "Dunwich Horror" starring Coombs as Wilbur. It was campy, but weird enough. Dean Stockwell, who played Wilbur in the 1970 version, also starred.
Herbert West is the most genuinely creepy story i have ever read. The thought of the escaped demons stalking the fields and lanes just on the edge of town
Thanks a ton for the subtitles! As someone hard of hearing (but not totally deaf) it makes a huge difference in how much I get out of these wonderful readings.
Is that you Warren? I thought you were dead! Oh youre back I see, wow Im really late! (since this seems to be a going trend right now, thought Id pitch in my two bits.)
If it wasn’t for this story, I probably wouldn’t have the career that I have today. And once I get the subject subdued on the table I’m going to retire for the evening and listen to my favorite HP Lovecraft story.
A fantastic narration of one of the great horror stories. What a fantastic job. The St. Elois crater... Thanks for this gem! I listened to it twice back to back. I'll be divorced by Christmas if this rate of release keeps up! Ha!
Wasn't this one of those that some places didn't want to print because they called it obscene, as being unnecessarily shocking and gruesome or something like that? It's a good one though, ofc. Thanks.
the soul is hardly a myth... after all, if the soul exits the body on death then perhaps the violence exhibited on the resurrected is perhaps natural the result of the body absent of the mediating conscience of one's soul. what a creature is like when entirely upon instinct...
I'll skip one this since I'm already as familiar with it as Acorn-electron is with The Statement of Randolph Carter. But for anyone who isn't this will be a real treat.
that has already been tried. Unfortunately, Herbert Wests formula was not quite what it should be at that point. Mine however. I bring them back routinely
Thank you so much! I was listening multiple times this story, on your channel, few days ago. Would you like to try "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath"? I know it's a hard task but it would be so captivating! I really love your work and wish you the better! 🇨🇦 Edit: Thanks for the subtitles too!
He already has and it's one of his best recordings, just search for it. It should be in a playlist called "dream-cycle" if you also want to hear the rest of the Randolph Carter stories. In any case, you're in for a treat.

❤everything is great
This man single handedly carries me to bed every night, and when he doesnt, he calms my day with the most enticing stories ive ever heard
You fool! Warren is in bed! 😜
Don't tell his wife
Yep, his voice is my companion on many a sleepless nights...
I want Ian to psychically carry me to bed every night and tell me enticing stories too. What Patreon level does that require?
Same
Nice to get a good clean read. This story might be the best of Lovecraft's non-mythos horror, certainly high in the count if not. Thank you.
What a wonderful story to calm down to.
I can't help but imagine Herbert West as Jeffrey Combs...
There’s an audio book of this read by him. It’s absolutely amazing
On TUBI, I watched the early 2000s version of the "Dunwich Horror" starring Coombs as Wilbur.
It was campy, but weird enough.
Dean Stockwell, who played Wilbur in the 1970 version, also starred.
There's no competing with Combs!
I just watched the Reanimator movie last night thanks Ian😊
One of my favs!
Loved the movie. I've never listened to this story and I'm sure it will be outstanding.
I've heard the movie is very different in tone - a horror comedy of sorts? How would you compare the two?
This has always been one of my favorites
I really find this to be one of Lovecraft's creepiest and most unapologetically vicious stories... I love it 😢❤
I can’t help but think about how the storyteller is kinda just along for the ride, when he is the biggest accomplice and enabler! 😂
I noticed that too, the more he retells events at the start of each chapter, the less responsibility he takes
Love this story, love your voice and your talent
Herbert West is the most genuinely creepy story i have ever read. The thought of the escaped demons stalking the fields and lanes just on the edge of town
sends a warm chill down the spine, doesn’t it?
Lovecraft has some crazy material. I love it. And of course, you narrate it as best as one can find.
I was reanimated! Great work again, Ian.
I’m down to listen to this one again.
A classic that I never get tired of thank you 😊
Thanks a ton for the subtitles! As someone hard of hearing (but not totally deaf) it makes a huge difference in how much I get out of these wonderful readings.
Awesome!
I don't often commend Lovecraft for subtlety, but the dean gets more depth here than in the movie.
Fantastic update and a great reading.
Thank you.
This is fantastic work Ian cheers and thankyou so much xo you have the best storytelling voice :)
Love Lovecraft 🖤
Cool! I'm off to get my popcorn now!
I'm four hours late for the show so I'm catching the....souree!
Thank you for the video!
Right on! Good on you man! Exactly what was needed. 🧑🔬🧟
Is that you Warren? I thought you were dead! Oh youre back I see, wow Im really late! (since this seems to be a going trend right now, thought Id pitch in my two bits.)

A concerning thought, Winston...!
@@HorrorBabble 👍🏻😂
@@HorrorBabble btw, Great readings and channel
This is a excellent story I have not ever read any h p lovecraft
Thank you g Man 😁😊
Really appreciate the effort, Ian.
Best audio and narration!
Great job Ian. Im a fan of your audio drama of this story but its nice to get an updated read of just the story itself too.
Thanks again!
You have the most soothing voice
I'm glad the voice works for you.
A fantastic narration of one of the great horror stories. What a fantastic job.
The St. Elois crater...
Thanks for this gem! I listened to it twice back to back.
I'll be divorced by Christmas if this rate of release keeps up! Ha!
YES MY FAV!!!!! THANK YOU
I love this story. Thanks for covering it.
Excellent
Ya love to see it
one of my favorites!
Thank you!
"... a snow-white, terrible, cylindrical object terminating in a tiny hand." 😱
Great yarn
Yay!!!! Thank you!!
As I was here so early, I was wondering how Warren is?
YOU FOOOOOOL!!!!
Wasn't this one of those that some places didn't want to print because they called it obscene, as being unnecessarily shocking and gruesome or something like that?
It's a good one though, ofc. Thanks.
Ah, the timid folks of yesteryear...
But, I just saw Warren last week and he looked great!
the soul is hardly a myth... after all, if the soul exits the body on death then perhaps the violence exhibited on the resurrected is perhaps natural the result of the body absent of the mediating conscience of one's soul. what a creature is like when entirely upon instinct...
Good idea for a book.
I'll skip one this since I'm already as familiar with it as Acorn-electron is with The Statement of Randolph Carter.
But for anyone who isn't this will be a real treat.
So then, should we have Dr. West try reanimating Warren, or...?
🧟♂️🧟♀️🧟♂️
that has already been tried. Unfortunately, Herbert Wests formula was not quite what it should be at that point. Mine however.
I bring them back routinely
I wish for a mulligan on the film, and then I don’t.
Hello, Ian. I love you, bro
Thank you so much!
I was listening multiple times this story, on your channel, few days ago.
Would you like to try "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath"? I know it's a hard task but it would be so captivating!
I really love your work and wish you the better! 🇨🇦

I'm planning to re-recording Dream-Quest at some point. It sounds rather dated now.
🥳🍿Thank you so much!!@@HorrorBabble
@@paulandreotti1639 Thank you; it was a real treat indeed!
"you fool! Warren is dead!"
Best open ever, and inside joke
Damn look at your sub count! Come so far
Slow but steady growth!
“You fool! Warren is dead,”
“Bugger”.
You fool! Warren is dead!
Herbert West: I have been summoned!
