How to fix BMW E36 convertible Knocking sound from motors in the trunk

If your Bmw e36 1990 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000. Has a convertible top that is not working and is making this knocking or popping or banging sound check out this video,
I didn’t show, but in the process of how I bent the plate back on the motor. All I really did was move it away from the plate of where the gear goes into the gear is more flush into the motor.

Nice video. My 1999 323i had the same problem with the tonneau motor. I adjusted bracket as you have shown. In addition, I replaced 2 struts for the tonneau cover and 1 strut for folding roof. it appeared that all of them were not holding up. I was able to test tonneau motor was working outside of the car. When I attempted to reset the top, the tonneau cover would close as shown in your video, but it stayed closed and nothing else moved. What do you suggest to try next? also, the folding of the top acted like yours when it last worked. Look forward to see what you do or find next.

If you do the test i did in the other video i made, and the cover works good, i would try changing the convertible module because that same issue was happening to me where it would pull in the cover for the reset and nothing else, i changed the module and it worked after, also dont forget there is a fuze in the trunk by the battery and that is for the module

I have one more question, My top was in the locked position and couldn't use the allen wrench move the front part of the top. Able to remove the cover over the top locks to access to windshield locks. Any idea how to turn left and right gears manually. See videos on e46 with access holes to turn manually with hex or torx bit. Thanks

hey, so my tonneau cover gets stuck on the truck on its way up. Do yk why that might be???

Maybe the cover needs to be adjusted 🤔 if it’s when the convertible is in the storage make sure it’s in all the way and not sticking out pushing into the tonneau cover
