Not much is known from scripture, nor from history
Possibly the apostle most shrouded in mystery
But most importantly, we know he found his way to Christ
It is Simon the Zealot, or Simon the Canaanite
For the saw may have severed through his flesh and bone
but now his soul would migrate to God's eternal home
He did not belong, for the world loved him not as its own
To Our Father which art in heaven, let Thy kingdom come
And deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom

When the day of Pentecost arrived
they all came together where they with Christ had dined
Suddenly the sound like that of a mighty wind
came and filled the house in which they were seated in
Now they saw what appeared to be a dozen cloven tongues
and all of them were filled with the Father's Holy Ghost
They spoke in other tongues, for by the Spirit they were able
This happened on Pentecost, or God's reversal of Babel
And so started the task of international evangelism
With the aid of God, Simon set out and began the mission
Although the records are uncertain as to where he preached it
some say he brought the gospel to Britain all the way from Egypt
But whichever path he chose, he took the Roman roads
The seed of Christ he sowed deep within their hearts and souls
Along the eastern coast of the Black Sea lies a town called New Athos
Follow the trails and we find the cave to which he fled and hid in the shadows
Away from the ones who were plotting his death, but in the end Simon could not escape
And somewhere along the river below the hills is the site where he met his fate
He preached to the region for more than a decade
By his words have millions of hearts awakened
to Jesus Christ, the Messiah long-awaited
But with truth comes fear and with love comes hatred
And the saw was the method of execution
Needless to say, his death was remarkably gruesome
Hung upside-down and sawn apart right down through the middle
Still preaching the Word of God as the blood began to dribble
And to the very end, even in the midst of his martyrdom
he shone a final light upon the world he was departing from
For the saw may have severed through his flesh and bone
