- I've nearly recovered from Covid in Haida Gwaii after isolating in my van for a few days. I feel motivated to accomplish my goals. But first, a pep-talk. Can anyone here relate to my thoughts?

Regarding the cold, insulate the van the best you can and install a diesel heater.
All the above will be cheaper than one week in an apartment.

Speaking at the other end of the scale,, went to my 55th reunion, in Vancouver and YES, I see that I had accomplished MANY things people thought I was crazy to move etc.... BUT looking back, ALL for the BETTER, even in things I wanted to do, but VERY UNCOMFORTABLE I can relate and reflect, so GO FOR IT and ALL the BEST!! Cheers, stay well, warm, and dry! !!

Life is short, true. OTOH, Life is a LOT longer than it takes to make some mistakes and recover. Especially when you're young... take chances! What's the worst that could happen? You fail? So? Are you still alive? Then what have you really lost? What if a "thing" takes 2 years? Sounds like a long time, right? Well, when you're 80, that's only 2.5% of your life. A pittance. Nothing. You could try four things that each take 2 years, and it'd still only be 10% of your life. Time's passing whether you try or not. You'll live your entire life whether you try or not. So try. :)

Self motivation need to be learn and take time to develop the proper pep-talk for yourself, but there are ppl who cannot do that but need help elsewhere.
Short answer to your question is ppl find excuses, like giving more time/space when they don't need to, before that mindset dig in you just go on and start working on it. Once you started, you should able to carry on until it is done.
I feel your pain...I've been working on a book for years, I'm down to the last chapter but I can't get sufficiently motived to sit down and write. I'm not sure if it's because I think I might fail and I don't want to face that? Is it just that I lack the needed motivation? I get close to sitting down and writing, but then I find a distraction, then after I'm done with the diversion it's too late. I'm making myself a place that might motivate me, I'm fixing up a partially finish porch with glass on 3 sides so I can look out occasionally and take in a view of the outside. Will this help? I hope so.

Yes, it's a Master Chef induction cooktop. I think it was on sale for $50 at Canadian tire back in 2020. Surely they still sell them! :)

This was filmed in summer of 2022.... Covid was very much still a thing on the islands of BC's West coast.
