I understand her situation was bad, but she wasn't able to fulfill her end of the bargan and from the dialog he had given her extension before. He allowed her to be behind 2 months already, which was more generous than he legally had to be.

I can't really agree with calling him a scumbag. I get that she was in a really bad situation. However, business is business, and she wasn't fulfilling the part of their contract agreement. As soon as he was paid, he was very happy to leave and let her do her thing.
