In your test, I preferred the Legere Signature. I have played Select Jazz and Legere Signature reeds. I play mostly on Legere Signature reeds now for my alto sax as I often get low humidity where I practise and Legere reeds don't get effected by moisture which helps. I think Legere said you have to play their reeds for a few minutes to get them warmed up, then they play better.
I usually put a BG reed performer patch on the Legere reeds as the bottom half of the reed isn't as thick as cane reeds are and without the patch, the reeds don't always sit well with some ligatures and won't play the best. Also you need to rotate the reeds every 40-60 minutes or so or they will go softer faster. I have found as well that moisture can build up and sit on the Legere reeds when you play them and that can dull the sound until its wiped off.
I also found that with thinner tip mouthpieces the Signatures for me don't respond well, either too buzzy or not smooth sounding, but they do sound better on mouthpieces I have tried like Selmer S80 C** and E, Soloist E and Claude Delangle mouthpieces, those have a thicker tip but the Legere American Cut do play well on thinner tip Jazz mouthpieces as they are designed differently, more like unfiled cane reeds but they can be a little bright sounding for my tastes.

Glad to see your impressions on Legere. They did win this round. I bet you can now see that there is a real convenience and comfort factor if you know your reed will be in that tight of a zone regardless of the conditions. You may find a better cane reed on occasion, but that Legere reed will outlast it’s counterpart and always sound that good. You can get almost everything to work, ie Vandoren java green was just off a bit, your Hemke was what I expected it would be out of the box, but you would have adapted on a job with both like you were starting to on this Select if you had too. You still would sound good and like yourself. You would just have to work harder. The audience generally would not know the difference.
I agree that the BSS and V16 have been good so far in your challenge. Legere is a great choice for bang for buck: consistency throughout horn and between reeds; how long it will last; no need to get wet, wear in, or work on, playability in all environments; you can just leave it for months and it will sound the same coming back to it, etc.

Wow thanks Jeffrey! you make excellent points about the reed and I was genuinely surprised about how great this reed turned out to be! I might use this more on the future. I think this might be a strong contender for future rounds just by how consistent the reed is in all tests! Thanks for watching!

The Legere are nice until you have to play a live gig in a horn section. They have no projection in a live situation, and they blow flat all night long. I went back to cane after playing one live-they just don’t have that solid, cane core element

@@MAlexRamirez When I was on the road a lot and playing a bunch of different gigs
like big band and really working constantly, I discovered Legere Signature. And they played great on the mouthpieces I was using at the time, Tenor , Alto and Soprano.
The thing for me was being on the road, the Legere was the same every night. My stress level went WAY down. Even the cats in the band
could see my load was lightened. Plus legere has a great return policy. Ok, now I am 75 I don´t go on the road any more, internationally, I work in town. So I went back to cane because it is cheaper then Legere. And I am very good at reed adjustment because I also played Oboe.
Legere works on some mouthpieces but not on others. They are fragile just like cane.
if you accidentally brush the tip, it is a much more expensive accident than a cane reed.
This was a super long reply, but you asked.
I use DÁddario jazz select, Rico Royal, Ligaphone and Berg Larsen Reeds.
