I would've enjoyed some more silence here.
Time I meant to say ?
I believe one band member passed recently? X bless rip x
I remember them like this. Happier times for me. 😊
DSOTM Pink Floyd..
What a beautiful era... people enjoying the show and dancing... not filming the concert on their smart phone...
And no auto-tune making everything "perfect"
For a bunch of young kids...those synthesisers must have cost a fortune.
perfect response.
There might be a reason for that....
YT recommendations are amazing. I was born that night😊
Missed the gig then.
😯
The future belongs to the kids.. Not the current population... 😌✌️
Imagine just 8 years later, these guys would drop Violator. Wrap that awesomeness around your head. What an unbelievable run this band has had. My absolute favourite band on the planet ❤️🎹❤️
When you look at it like that it is pretty amazing
And 10 years later they would have a run of shitty albums while they could have exit at their peak
@@theytstowaway1483 i disagree . Not all good but there are some excellent tunes
@@theytstowaway1483 Real fans would buy a DM album if it was just 90 minutes of Mediterranean fart noises. There’s hardly another band on the planet from that era that could still do a full run of stadiums 40 years into their career. So respect the boys or shutdafucup 👋🏽😑
A high school colleague got a few of us tickets to see them perform live during the Violator tour. I’m not a DM fan, but I have that album because it’s profoundly good.
They look like children here, and they sound bad technically, but I can see that the elements are there - especially the courage and attitude, and the smarts to use sequencers to at least look like they can play cohesively. David’s voice is good. The other guys not so much but they’re enjoying themselves. That confidence took them a long way. 👍🏻
Here we are, 2024 and still think this music was ahead of its time for sure
Most music from Europe feels "ahead" to us Americans.
Absolutely!
Fresh sound. Very 80s. I bet this band does well in the future.
Whoever recorded this did an amazing job capturing the band and the scene kids in the audience. The footage is gold! 💖
Isn’t it?! Fantastic.
The sound is fantastic when you think when it was recorded
@@damienhart9149 You're kidding, right? The sound is obviously overdubbed. Not a single sound from the crowd...
Pity the video and audio are not synchronised which I did very offputting
boiler room 80's style
💥💥💥
Brilliant night! That's me at 7.33 in black shirt taking a photo of the guys. I don't know where the photos went to through the years. Went back stage afterwards to meet them, never forgotten!
Very cool. Were they friendly chaps?
You legend ! Cool
@gerardanalepa...🤗🤓👌👍
Love story..!
Where does the time go? How cool to find footage of you being there.
you are so fucking lucky guy man
what a gem of a recording. dave had all the confidence in the world at such a young age.
That voice, that presence, those rhythm, all from his teen years and still!
Dave was too shy
19 yrs old here
He had such a mature voice for such a young person.
A good dancee too
Brutal harmony vocals in the See You intro.
😂😂😂
That was a rough start for sure
Seems, like they don,t hear themselves in monitors
I'm 59 and lifelong hardcore fan but this is soooo bad but I give them credit at least they were really singing
the pogoing tho 😊
Amazing footage of the best band of my lifetime. Bar none.
They all look so young! Especially Dave, whose mum has clearly just said to him "I really don't think this whole band business is ever going to amount to very much, but if it really means that much to you then you can stay up late just this once to do your concert thing with your little friends. But it's back to normal tomorrow. 8pm bedtime - no arguments!"
R.I.P. Andy Fletcher...
Dave Gahan doesn't age at all and still keeps with the same energy! Depeche Mode we hear your music in Tijuana, Baja California, México
Salutes!!!
Love this so much! It's a true live performance, no lip-synching here! They each look like they are only 15! Classic.
Exactly it's really bad but give them loads of respect for actually singing
But how old they were, really?
@@ok_romanaround 20.
Martin & Andrew: 1961
Dave :1962
Wilder: 1959
Random dudes doing little ditties in a small club will later become the most influential electronic band in music history. What a perfect footage of the early days of Depeche Mode.
And by the way, you see that "Fletch" does not only bum around like he always used to say. This is a great video. Thank you very, very much for uploading this.
Back in the days of this gig, you could not imagine that only a few years later these guys would drop "Black Celebration", "Music For The Masses", and "Violator". This was fun watching this.
He played a lot more in the early days. Dave on Fletch, Q mag, 2003
Q: Is Fletch´ skeyboard ever plugged in?
A: Yes, it´s plugged in, but I couldn´t honestly say what you get from it. He performs with us live but he seems to spend more time out in front, waving his arms in the air than playing the keyboards. All I Know is that when he goes back to his kit, I look round and I know there ain´t anything happening there.
@@jakubpetricekDave always seemed to have a prob with him , sad
Wow, a lot of bands in front of them, Kraftwerk being one of them. At the time of this recording even Blancmange were. bigger.
Great band ... but nowhere near as influential or game-changing as Kraftwerk. DM could have sold more albums albums though
absolutely incredible band. just incredible
Dave was already a star ❤️
Man I can’t even believe Dave Gahan’s self confidence at that age. He’s probably 19 or 20 here. Guy was born as rockstar!
Didn't realise that Alan Wilder had joined the band, if only as a touring musician, this early on. NEVER forgotten.
He's not dead...
@@2Skinny The reference is to him never being forgotten as a member of the band. Especially with the death of Fletcher, there's an attempted rewriting of history by some people.
I know, I couldn’t believe it was Alan Wilder either, at first I just thought it was Vince Clarke! I had no idea he was already with them in March 1982, crazy.
Alan Wilder is such a multi-talented musician and writer. He really gave DM an expanded dimension. Acknowledged by everyone at Mute as a creative genius who often stepped in to keep everything together. When Dave almost died after the Speedball incident, it was Alan who kept up the momentum and provided the quality drive to keep DM at the top
@@flashtheoriginal And the others didn't care until he left.
Hard to believe that these young boys in a small club in Luxembourg ended up becoming world famous and played repeatedly at underground clubs everywhere.
Almost didn’t want to sit down while watching this footage. Total fun.
So glad I found this video! I’ve been enjoying Depeche Mode since the 80’s and my teen daughter recently “discovered” them. The best days of my life happened while listening to Depeche Mode.
Glad i was there in the 80's to see it unfold and be part of it. New life was the first single i bought. It was out if this world back then.
No meu♥️ também!!!
40 years ago wow. I was 7 years old. And believe it or not, I was already listening to DM, thanks to my older teenage brother (RIP). Also, RIP Fletcher.
I wad 16
If this was in March of 1982 I was still 6, my Birthday isn't until October I turned 7 then. I miss the 80's.
@@rnkmode1876 me too!
@@rnkmode1876 I was the same age as you in 1982 born 6 May 1976. How time flies.
@@matthewfarmer6830 it sure does. Waiting for my chance to go back in time to see the DM concerts that I wasn't able to see. Preferably a Violator tour show, Black Celebration and a 101 show.
42 years,,, how time flies... still love to play this songs to this day...
The year is 1982.
These three have no idea what a genius they have on their left side.
I was looking for this comment
And he was!
Amazed at the quality of the filming and recording. And the music.
Takes balls to get up there and do that. Not perfect, kept going. Fantastic sounding songs recorded.
@@mogadon7 I saw them maybe a year later at Hammersmith Odeon I think. They were kind of huge by then. Superb band.
Wow the quality of this recording is amazing, the crisp sounds, the clear visuals. A real treasure. The lads are loving it here!
Great to see that Dave’s dancing is still as enthusiastic as it was here….42 yrs later and they’re still killing it ❤
He's no Fred Astaire but he tries...
Absolutely fantastic footage of Depeche mode before they hit the Big Time ❤❤❤
This is synth gold
Beautiful synth work on top of a completely souless drum machine ...and oh, the hair! Welcome to the 80's
I would give anything to go back in time and hear this live.. it sounds so much better then there record/cd
It''s funny to see one of the best music bands in the world ..
...which is performed for several dozen people in a room that looks like a school
cafeteria.
Years later, the beginning of a career can be so touching ...
Thank you Depeche Mode !
Larga vida Depeche mode!!
Una auténtica joya! Viva Depeche Mode👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
Depeche Mode needs to release Live albums from the 80's like this because its nice hearing those 80's synths live

@@anderprise ..

@@anderprise ..
That fact that in 4 years they would go from this to things like Fly On The Windscreen is so mind boggling it’s crazy. This is very cool footage!
Or to Blasphemous Rumours and Master and Servant in just 2 years! 😭
"Fly On The Windscreen" was in fact only 3 years later, as B-side of "It's Called A Heart" ... even more unbelievable now! 😲
If you don’t get it done in your prime you’ll run out of time
Alan...
A year and something aftr this they recorded Pipeline.
Legendary! ❤
Amazing! RIP Andy Fletcher.
Its time for his return.
this is the group that has accompanied me in all stages of my life and now I am 51 years old ! You are the best !!!
It's great to see this early-career video. It makes you realize we all have to start somewhere. You just have to get yourself up there and do it.
40 años despues y suenan tremendos, DM best electronic band ever!!
The best band in the world!!!
This brings up memories! I saw them later that year in December 1982 in Goslar. Amazing! So young! And it really honours the work of Andy. Rip
I'm curious to know if you're able to remember how much that show cost. It's interesting to see how a band progresses in popularity from absolutely nothing to where they are today....
@@danrodrigues3531 do you mean the price for the ticket? One year later in Berlin it was 19 DM.
... and the tickets for the Goslar concert on December 4th 1982 were 18 and 20 DM. I took the 20 to be closer to the stage ... :)
ha ha! you’re old.
@@buendheimproduction I live in the US and it looks like 20 DM converts to roughly $10.93US today and that gives me a better idea of what I was looking for. Thank you for being able to remember how much you paid back then. I really appreciate it...
1982... Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark ..with Maid of Orleans. Duran Duran with Save a Prayer. Dexies Midnight Runners with Eileen. U2 with I will Follow and Simple Minds with Promised you a Miracle....what a ERA in time. What a time to have lived in...to be part of. 1982. Unbelievable! And then DM in Luxembourg...at the start of something so big, even they didn't realize. Thanks for showing us these beautiful images.🙏
Y SOFT CELL, DAF, HUMAN LEAGUE, , JAPAN, BLANCMANGE, THE THE,
Larga vida a Depeche Mode.❤
Legends.
40 years later they're a Hall Of Fame band😄. Life is full of surprises. RIP Fletch🙏💖
This is the Depeche Mode I fell in love with. Of course, I was at the “impressionable age” of “Little 15”. As a synth player and keyboard teacher today, this music, along with so many others stirred my imagination, filled my little music heart with so much wonder- took me on a lifelong journey for sure.
I am still hypnotized by the fact the keyboards were played live over a drum track on reels. Brilliant!
Thank you for sharing this awesome footage! 😎💕🌹
Most did not know how to properly use synthesizers and make electronic music. These guys are on a short list of people who did it brilliantly. The song writing is fucking great too. Love this band
At this point, their use of synths was quite elementary but they soon learned a huge amount. As a fan from the start, I was astonished at how each succeeding album was a true artistic progression - which lasted until Alan Wilder left.
Amazing. RIP Andy
Esse formato só com sintetizadores é perfeito.
Loved how it took a couple of minutes into See You for it all to gel. But gel it did! :)
I believe these kids have a great future.
This is amazing! They were so young.the beginning of a 40 year legacy! RIP Andy 🙏 Hope these gentlemen continue to bring us amazing music. I'm sure Andy would have wanted that. Love this band!
Formação clássica do Depeche. Grande banda. Agora sem Andrew. Vai deixar saudade!!!!
Classic. Alan Wilder - GENIUS
Wau!!
There are nights when the algo leads me to pure gold like this. Thank you for posting 🙏
@@valdemaarhitlar ..
Amazing, really enjoyed this video, one of my favorite bands since the early 80's along with The Cure.
