It really wasn't until the 1990s that pop songs were expected to be performed live, and even then it wasn't common for a bunch of years more. It wasn't up to the artists. And then 10 years later they perfected it IMO on the Devotional Tour. The original version has sounded so dated for a long time (even though it's one of my fave DM tracks) that the Devotional version is the one I have listened to for years now. Everything literally peaked for them on that tour but like all good things, once it is up, it eventually comes down.
This is actually a good German crowd. The bad crowds clap, but off-beat. And the show was hilarious, I loved it as a child and teenager. It was music mixed with interviews and comedy.

I am mesmerized by this video for all the reasons others have stated. The baritone voice and Dave’s stage presence is just massive. In the dancing, it’s 80s style of course, but I see some Tom Jones and James Brown influences too. It’s the whole package. Rediscovering the greatness of this band.
And sadly, everything STILL counts in large amounts. Great song by the brilliant, wonderful, original band DEPECHE MODE! Condolences to Andy Fletcher loved ones. So sad to hear he died recently. Only 60 years old. R.I.P ANDY

Oh man, the 80's was the greatest time to be a teenager. I was 15 when I discovered Depeche Mode and the Cure...the fall of 84. Oingo Boingo anyone? So much amazing music. The 80's new wave was so awesome. I get all giddy when I discover a modern band that sounds retro. I never thought there would come a day when I would say "wtf is this garbage on the radio!?! I don't get todays music... this sucks." So sad. 🤣
This was depeche mode at their best in the 80's especially in Europe. My favorite dance and listening music all time of the 80's , the crowd in that show I believe was amazed by that synthsized electro tunes and Dave Gahan's passion for dance and singing. Best electronic dance music all time!!

Biolek and von der Lippe had a great sense for good musicians to soon enter the big German stages! Both shows look quite outdated from today's point of view, but at their time in the 80s, they were just great, even for younger people.

Кто хотел тот слушал.
Да. Также спокойно ловил зарубежные каналы в географическом центре Советского Союза, проблем с приемом не было.
