I use red Permatex silicone gasket maker, it seals well and has a high temp tolerance. Just smear on the pipe and slide it on the muffler. And you can use a SS lap band clamp that is wide maybe 3 inch wide and it overlaps the whole joint on both sides. It does not crunch the pipes together. In fact you can use it like a butt joint clamp.
That’s what I use when repacking 2 sproke and 4 stroke dirtbike silencers, they literally just use 5/6 bolts to hold it together and the red permatex makes a great seal that will never leak
I agree with the red silicone. He said the exhaust sealant will make the pipe easier to get on and off......not true! That exhaust sealant dries rock hard.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video I'm trying to teach myself how to fix my exhaust system. I read today I cannot braze these pipes together without some sort of special fitting so now I'm looking at using clamps

Very informative. Thank you!
With band clamps should we be cutting a small, say 1" slit on the tube ends to allow them to constrict when tightening the clamp?
Here because the PA inspection system is bullshit and hates the fact that I dont got a muffler haha
Thanks brother

Thank you
You never actually showed us how to tighten them lol.
That's what she said
