Oral History: Doris Dunkelberger

Monroe County Memories: An Oral History Project presents an interview with Doris Dunkelberger, recorded December 20, 2024.
In conversation with Dr. Martin Wilson, retired Professor of History at East Stroudsburg University, Doris Dunkelberger shares her memories of growing up on a 100-acre farm in Stroud Township, where today's Stroud Mall stands. She details the daily operations of the farm, her typical routines, and the variety of jobs she performed. She also discusses her marriage to Ray Dunkelberger, their early years together while he was in the service during WWII, her experiences raising a family, and her work as a trust officer at First Eastern Bank. Lastly, Dunkelberger reflects on the remarkable changes she has witnessed in Monroe County throughout her 101 years.
