Ichiran and Ippudo Ramen are some of my favorite Japanese Ramen Chains. This time I'm going to compare the 2 Instant noodle version of these Ramen restaurants along with a mix of other instant noodles I found at the local Japanese grocery store.

The way Mikey describes food literally makes anything sound good lol like this is legit just 2 minute noodles
Yeah but sometimes instant noodles can taste better than actual restaurant noodles... If you watch the videos you know he expresses when something tastes bad
you obviously haven't tried other japanese instant noodles, some literally taste like it came out fresh from a ramen restaurant
asian instant noodles are on a different level and people do not see them as a povo meal
Have you tried good instant noodles? They're heavenly. I they weren't so calorific and sodium heavy, I would eat them all the time

Here I was back in college eating ramen straight from the package. Then I learned to throw everything but the kitchen sink in it. Making egg drop, veggie, thin cut chicken, fish,etc. It’s such a versatile dish that can please just about anyone.

I've tried that "Ocean's Halo" brand stuff before. I completely agree. That's the food you give to your girlfriend when you don't want to see them anymore.
Same, I had the tonkatsu Ocean's Halo ramen and it was so bad I tossed it out after two bites without finishing. It tasted like it had no salt and it had a strong bitter flavor.

Watching Mikey eat a bunch of delicious looking instant noodles while I eat my sour and spicy sweet potato noodles with home made beef and shiitake mushroom broth, homemade hot oil, and a side of kimchi and some marinated beef I made myself.

12:50 That Myojo Ippeichan Yakisoba instant noodle thing is my all-time favorite instant noodle. There's another flavor of it that is a little lighter but really good too. I could eat these every day.

@@Galactic123 Nah. He exercises an insane amount, and he has said that off camera he eats very little and healthfully. His muscles naturally burn more calories as well. Lean muscle increases the amount of base calories you burn each day.
I knew it! I pick up the Super Big Ramen every time I go to Uwajimaya and the noodle texture is surprising. I tried it initially because it was on sale for like $1 a bowl. One of my favorites for the price point.
The moment he picked up the Ocean's Halo ramen box, I flinched. Had it from Walmart once and instantly regretted it. Have not come across a good thing from them and couldn't finish the bowl despite all the Christian-raised guilt. No amount of "THERE ARE CHILDREN STARVING" rhetoric could get me to do it, sorry mom. Please don't become an ash wraith to haunt me.
Mike, I hope you read this.😊 My grandma came from Taiwan many decades ago to visit us in Bellevue. Grandma didn’t know any English, so we had to come up with creative ideas to teach grandma some English words like “Uwajimaya”. So grandma would say she wants to go to 我的媽呀 then we know she meant Uwajimaya.😂

Nexttime in japan look in 7/11 for Nakiryu instant noodles, they are from a 1 star michelin ramen restaurant.
I think he had it in one of his Japanese 7-eleven videos. He has lots of them by now so idk which exact one lol but I agree with you. Nakiryu is actually I ask people to bring back for me whenever they're on a trip to Japan.

The Nissin Curry cup ramen is soooo good!! I always get that one at the store. Also if you like fish, there is a Seafood one with little pieces of re-hydrated calamari, fish, scrambled eggs, green onions, and cabbage - the sauce is thick on it as well just like the Curry one. Good stuff!

Thank you so much for doing this. I was generally curious about some of the choices you purchased and didn't want to spend money on instant ramen I may not like. I wish I could try that Ippudo ramen but unfortunately I don't live in an area with such a wide range of Asian choices like you do. I was really looking forward to this type of video. I hope you continue to do compare and contrast to a wide-range of similar instant foods so we, as a viewers, can get a general idea of what they may taste like.

I had that yakisoba with mustard mayonnaise recently for lunch while at work, and I agree with mikey's reaction. It was great, slight hints of wasabi and creamy mayo.
Hi Mikey! The Curry Cup Noodles I actually recommend microwaving it, it’s also recommended by the directions on the side
The curry is more thick if you microwave it, versus the thin curry from just pouring hot water

Hey Mike, love the videos! Been binge watching your videos during quarantine, and I, personally, feel like the sound is a bit soft. Sometimes I switch between other youtube videos and I have to keep lowering the volume after I watch yours. But other than that, keep up the good work and stay safe!
I moved away a decade ago and thought I was over missing Seattle, but man I miss the rain. Also, I've been trying a lot of different instant noodles the past year thanks to you and some other channels. Gotta say, I think personally Korean ramen is the winner for me. There's something about the bold spices and subtle simplicity of the ones I've tried that just really hits the perfect ratio. Also Shin Ramyeon has about the best noodles around for an inexpensive instant noodle.
I moved from the west coast to Tennessee and even though there are Asian markets I miss the one's in Portland. I haven't even found a restaurant that has roast duck here 😭
The Ippudo instant noodles are supposed to taste pretty close to what they serve in the restaurant because that was the selling point when the Seven-Eleven convenience store developed the product in joint with the ramen restaurant. They wanted to create instant ramen products that taste like the real thing in the restaurants.

Lol it is, I would say to burn those noodles with fire if you ever see them but the fire my spit them out. The secret ingredient must be bleach or embalming fluid. They are that gross.

Curry Cup Noodle sounds so good! The yakisoba with karashi mayo is so good. It's mustard, not wasabi, though. Try Myojo Chukasoba in the blue pack sometime, they're great in summer.

I'm glad I'm not crazy, lol. I bought one of those Ocean's Halo ramen kits, and I was really excited about it, but it was just. Inedible. I really tried to get through it, but it tasted like damp cardboard. I don't know if it's the bowl it cooks in or what. I rarely throw food away, but it had to go. :(

We literally only have the nasty gross cheap cup of noodles with radioactive vegetables in my town like I don't understand like I understand that it's texts but why can't we have some diversity and are Walmarts and targets and things like that instead of just plain out cup-a-noodles like like down in Dallas and stuff you can sometimes find stuff but I've done to other states and be able to find you know huge amounts of different ramen usually I just have to order everything online
You can try the first yakisoba that he liked if you get them on Amazon. Search "Myojo Ippeichan Yakisoba Japanese Style Instant Noodles." They're very expensive online right now, I am thinking because of covid. They are very good though.

@@wendygutierrez2323 there are few supermarkets in the city who brings in imported noodles here but they are so hella expensive that even if you like eating it, you probably would think twice before spending money on it again. but now during the lockdown situation here, they are giving priority to deliver other necessary stuffs from amazon and most of the noodles are marked unavailable :(
@@rai.b Not only that, but Japan isn't shipping to the states right now....at least for commercial stuff, so if the noodles are coming from there they actually CAN'T mail it to you.
I love those Curry Cup Noodle and the seafood one too. What I like to do with the curry one is put a slice of American cheese on top and let it sit for a bit longer, then mix it all together
Suggestion : You are amazing. If possible please try to do testing while sitting on high table. Eating something continuously standing not good.

Using instant yakisoba to construct a Yakisoba bread is amazing btw (and better than actual Yakisoba bread imo cause the texture of springy instant noodles just match better with soft fluffy bread than the thinker soba noodles)
