      My goodness how wonderful :D
There may be hope for me then, I lived in temporary accomodation as a child (one step above being homeless) so we didn't have fancy things like bikes and computers and what-not. In my teens and young adulthood I learned to code and now I'm a fulltime software engineer :D
As for the cycling though, I've always wanted to learn but it seems like an insurmountable task to learn how to ride a bike as an adult D:

I have the same housing challenge. Amelia Island is as far Northeast in Florida as you can get without being in the ocean or Georgia. We also have a big tourist season it starts in April and goes to September.
Houses on the island start at 400,000. And these are for houses that are two bedrooms basically and one bath and between 60 and 70 years old without being updated very much. A new house is about $650,000 and up.
Thank goodness there is a bridge off the island instead of a ferry. I live off Island in the cheap seats. I bought my house 21 years ago and it was $125,000 US. It is only 40 years old but we've done a fair job of keeping it up to date. If I had were to sell it today it would probably be worth $400,000 to $450,000 US.
As of last year I'm a widow. I can't afford to move anywhere because my house will not bring me enough money to buy something even smaller.😢
Tourism is wonderful it keeps the area alive and growing. But it also makes it hard for the average working person here to afford to live here. A lot of them live at least an hour away. Hope this does not happen where you are. 🤞

Hello Andrew! It's always good to see you. Congrats on getting to the sleeves on your daughter's jumper. Father God, please wrap your loving arms around your flock on Arran - they need your love and guidance right now. Especially your son, Andrew. Please place the right home in his path for his family and teaching position for his wife. Amen.

Your knitting podcast is one of the more relaxing ones and is also very realistic and relatable. (Meaning you don't say things like, oh double pointed needles are so easy I use them to knit lace in the round while also bathing my cat!).
Also, I am homesick so it's nice to hear a Scottish voice.

Another enjoyable few minutes spent with you and the feeling of friendship that your podcast exudes. Many good wishes towards a beneficial outcome of the uncertainty that you and your family are facing. Such a testament to the belief we often don’t have control as to what happens to us but definitely can face our challenges with calm and resolve that helps us find our way to the solution. Good luck on finishing your daughter’s jumper. I’m working on my own birthday sweater and keep reminding myself that no getting around it, knitting takes a lot of time. But time well spent. I so enjoy the time you spend chatting with us. Transitions in life are hard no matter if they are positive or stressful. Good luck with whatever happens with your living situation. I have two color work hats to complete and one other project prior to the start of a shawl KAL starting on April 21st. Once it is completed, I will begin to work on a Gansey sweater. I have all my materials gathered now and will be ready to go hopefully by June 1. Hoping to be able to make myself sit and knit for two periods of the day during the summer so I can make good progress. I would love to have it completed so I can have it to wear next winter.

Hello again Andrew. I am working on the sleeves of my Monday Sweater just like you. Kudos to you for doing the Italian bind off. I got a little impatient and decided to try it on a project that didn't have quite so many stitches. I do like the way it looks. I pray your family will find the best fit for a house and you will be able to continue with your ministry on the island. A welcome morning to be with you before I have to go to work. Bleurgh! I'm finishing up the bunnies I made for the kids at church...just the tails to do. I'm going to hide them along with their eggs to find after services on Sunday. Once they're done, I'm going to get a few long terms projects off my lap and work on my kep and perhaps take a look at Gansey's patterns. I'll send some prayers upward that your housing situation resolves and you'll be able to remain on the island. My own diocese is studying a merger with a larger one which I'm not to keen on. I understand that reasons behind it, but even within our own diocese, we smaller churches at the fringe tend to be 'forgotten' and most activities happen at the diocesan center, often a 2-3 hour drive away. I worry how much more we will be forlorn if we merge with a large city diocese. I must trust in Him to lead us ! A blessed Easter to your parish and your family, and God grant you a blessed retreat with your family afterward.

Hi Andrew, thank you for another great Podcast, I have just joined your happy band, hoping in a small way it will be of some help. Housing is such a big problem the world over, the homeless list just gets longer and longer here in Australia. My daughter and her family have the same problem and life can be so difficult when you don’t know where you are going to live, I bought my daughter caravan as they could not get anywhere to live as they are 1200 k’s away from me in South Australia, as a disabled pensioner they had no hope of getting a rental property and government housing lists are horrendous. Anyhoo I have to say they are extremely happy now and can live anywhere they want too. Hopefully eventually they will find something more permanent. Take care and hope all goes well for you and your family 🤩

My high-tech method of row counting is to get some matches or toothpicks or the like and move one at the end of each row from the "start" pile to the "end" pile, and then, when I've got to where I need to do whatever it is, I do it & I sweep the counters back to the "start" pile. If you had a couple of pieces of foam rubber you could put pins on one of them & then shift the pins to the other.
When I was a child my mother used to have a little counter that went on the non-business end of a needle (using a pair of straight needles, that is) but she wasn't really a big fan of it and I ended up playing with it. I have a feeling I killed it when I tried to vivisect it.

I am knitting a sweater in plettulopi. This is my first time knitting with it it and I ordered it from the Icelandic store. It smells so deliciously of sheep (clean sheep). And because you need to be very mindful as you slowly pull it off the plate, it helps me to be a mindful knitter!

Over the winter, I knitted hats, headbands & such for the local thrift store that supports the battered women's shelter. Now I'm working on a pot holder to go with the one I made last year. For me, simple knitscare meditative & calming. We too live in a tourist destination &in 4 years, our house has doubled in value. It's at a point where people like you are renting space from homeowners & buying used RVs. One house has tiny caravans as a short term rental solution for visitors here on holiday. I have NO idea where waiters, cooks, cleaners& such can afford to live!😢

Thank you for your podcast. I"m Scottish by heritage, so your podcast feels a bit like being with family while I relax and knit along. I agree about using DPNs. Every time I use them I think of an angry porcupine. 😆 I only use them when there is no alternative.

Hi Andrew, I really enjoy all your podcasts, as well as the mini scenes of your island. I pray you find a perfect new accomodation for you and your family. I'm from the middle of NB , Canada, finishing a blanket for a newly married couple expecting their first baby girl, and a shawl in the spike trellis stitch (on youtube). I'll be praying for you. Happy Easter and God Bless.

Hello Andrew. When you are thinking about hat patterns, you might want to look at the 1898 hat. It's a free pattern on ravelry from the Seaman's Church Institute. With a doubled brim and shaped ears it's especially warm. It suits our Canadian climate! Following you has introduced me to your Sannox Saturday which I very much appreciate. Blessings....

Here's to a blessed Resurrection Sunday to you and your family! I am including you in my prayers for a miraculous answer to your housing needs. It is so sad that many churches have seen a huge decline in attendance. (Ours as well) Your daughter's sweater is coming along nicely. Enjoy your family vacation. And I'll see you the next time.

You inspired me to pick up one of my knitting projects I started last year. I learnt how to crochet last year so I've been on a bit of a crochet bender, so I've picked up the scarfe I'm knitting and hopefully I can finish it over today and tomorrow. Best of luck with the house hunt, I hope you find something magical.

I live in Niagara Falls USA, so understand perfectly when you are describing increased activity where you live. There are blessings and curses to living in a tourist location. 😊 My church I belonged to for about 50 years recently closed due to declining membership and all the repercussions from that. I now watche services that a group of pastors lead that is broadcast on Sundays & while I'm thankful, the in person experience is so much better. I'll add you and your family's house hunting need to my prayers. Enjoy your after Easter respite & thank you for sharing yourself, your family & your faith with all of us.

I'm knitting on the first sleeve of Adventurous by Joji Locatelli. Oh, and then I crocheted some more on an amigurumi turtle for my older daughter. Happy knitting and here's to not getting stuck on "sleeve island".

My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family during this unsettling time. And I hope you don't end up broadcasting your podcasts from a tent! Thank you for a lovely relaxing chat. I don't know how to post on Instagram so that it is linked to you but I have been doing some gansey knitting. I've just finished a gansey for my partner and now I'm knitting up the sea biscuit cardigan in Di Gilpin's book which you recommended, using some wool I bought at a knitting show in Leeds last weekend. If it hadn't been for your podcast I wouldn't have known about the book and wouldn't have discovered all the wonderful motifs in it. xx

Just cast on Daily Pullover by Purl Soho. Using stash yarn in a glorious mottled red from Countess Ablaze. Sadly she no longer dyed yarn but luckily I have some. Here’s hoping your house needs are met. Take care.
