  • A visit to the JOHN COMPTON ORGAN COMPANY, in Chase Road, London
    illustrating the manufacture of COMPTON THEATRE PIPE ORGANS.
    All the processes are shown including pipe manufacture and voicing
    through to the completion of the organ rising from the pit in the cinema.
    Film produced by the company to promote sales of the instrument,
    under the title "The World's Best Theatre Organ".
    Notable Compton Organs included;-
    The original 4 manual BBC Theatre Organ, designed by Reginald Foort;
    Southampton Guildhall with two consoles (Theatre & Concert)
    and Wolverhampton Town Hall.
    MY dad and I were very lucky to enjoy an afternoon visit to the Compton works
    organised by RALPH BARTLETT on behalf of the THEATRE ORGAN CLUB members,
    many years ago, where we were shown all the facilities illustrated in the video,
    followed by an excellent Tea in the company's canteen opposite the factory.
    Video Presented and Uploaded by ComptonLodgeStudios in the Rhondda.

    The sheeting and rolling of the molten metal by hand is particularly fascinating! Thank you for sharing this amazing historical video.

    Is that Wurlitzer music accompanying this? Sounds like Mr R H Dixon at some points?

      It's definitely a Compton, just listen to the heavy reeds! No credit is given as to the organist. Maybe someone will come up with a correct answer.
      Sorry no prizes offered! Many Thanks for your interest. Best Wishes, PAUL.

      @@ComptonLodgeStudios A lot of this, if not all, must be RPB (Reginald Porter Brown).
