This is amazing! I was incredibly tempted to buy that console - being in Lincoln - but ultimately I couldn't because I'd have nowhere to put it. I'm so glad it went to a good home, and it's great that you're documenting its conversion to a useable instrument again!

My grandparents often spoke to me about going to 'the pictures' at the Rialto, Blackburn - It was their local cinema. They recalled seeing & hearing the organ many times. My grandfather was born in Blackburn & my grandmother was born in Darwen.
Glad to know that at least the console survives today. Good luck with this project! ❤❤

The Magnepan Magneplanar speakers are just amazing speakers for Hauptwerk. Low pressure so you can play loud, but the neighbors can barely hear. Also because of their large thin design the music arrives in a full wide dispersion without having to worry about the placement of smaller speakers. These speakers sound like the real theatre pipe is right there! You needn't get a top model, I have had amazing success with older Magneplanar SMGa speakers. If you buy a rattling pair the tar like adhesive is easy to apply and Magnepan has it.

Great to see your progress ! I often used to see the console at Eagley Bank House, Bolton in the 1980's.

Very enjoyable to see your progress. I did not realise what a state the console was in. I look forward to future videos, both on this and things such as the winding engine you mention.

@@TheMechanicalChannel I’ve got the opposite situation to you. At my church we’ve got a real pipe organ which is MIDI-enabled so I can capture my performances at home and work on MIDI sequences, and play them back on a real organ 😃

@@djjudas21 That’s a Brilliant Idea. It must be quite strange to stand back and hear yourself through the pipes, as it were.

@@TheMechanicalChannel yes it’s weird at first. I’ve got it hooked up to a laptop via a MIDI-over-Bluetooth adapter. In this video I’m just wandering around the church at night while it plays Bach ua-cam.com/users/shortsrcLnaiZxSyQ?feature=share

good luck with the project! Amusing how you didn't tell your Dad about the organ. When I had my Compton electrone, I 'forgot' to mention to my other half that there was an external speaker cabinet! I was not popular for a good few days!

Absolutely brilliant what youre doing,i found your channel quite by chance and I`m so glad I did ! I started playing the organ at the age of 12 (Im now 60 in a few weeks and sadly disabled now so cant do what I used to ) and my first foray into the world of the theatre organ was at the age of 14 , sat nervously on the organ bench next to the late Carlo Curley at Wurlitzer Lodge in West London in 1978 , sadly now the only room I have now is for a small home organ,Midi capable so I can use "miditzer" software so I can still relive my memories, just wanted to say, above all keep up the good work and I will be avidly following your channel now ! interested to know if its not an impertinant question,How much did it cost you to purchase the console ? Many thanks Chris

Glad you’re enjoying the videos, Chris. I was extremely lucky to get the console. I bought it from the Cannock Chase Organ Club after they unfortunately lost their premises. It was in bad condition having been stored in damp conditions prior to Cannock Chase Organ Club acquiring it. There was no internals in it either so it was agreed that £350 was reasonable.

Hey buddy thanks for the reply that was a bargain even though you've got tons of work still to do I know would love to see any hear it when it's done and maybe even try it one day lol I've tried hauptwerk before it's pretty good but after over 40 years of playing I prefer the touch and feel of miditzer . Keep up the good work and I'm glad to be able to follow your project . I'm based in Manchester by the way

Don't mind me asking but what's your name by the way and do you play anywhere professionally or is it just a lifetimes hobby in music ? I've listened to you play on the videos and must say I love your playing style

Having has 2 Compton cinema organs complete with there pipes and now finishing my own 5 manual 40 rank digital cinema organ I understand all the work it takes, The Compton console I have is all that remains of the ex-Halifax console after to top was eaten by woodworms. Keep up the good work.

I'd love to have a proper cinema organ console like that (Hauptwerk'd too obviously!) but mine happily goes along for now...
You've certainly upgraded from that custom bodge job Wyvern-come-Hauptwerk-come-TTT Blackpool samples!
I look forward to seeing how your project progresses!
